Unexpectedly chic or vile curtains?

I am inexplicably drawn to this dress.

Is it the sublimely chic dress of my dreams or, in fact, a pair of curtains masquerading as a dress?

Yuk.

PavlovaPrincess · 09/03/2018 11:23

I like it. But then I'm a big fan of clothes that could be mistaken for my nan's sofa circa 1972 (I'm actually serious btw. Love retro style prints and cuts).

ChaChaChaCh4nges · 09/03/2018 11:25

Hate it with a passion.

newdocket · 09/03/2018 11:26

I'm the same PP, drawn to 70s style looks that make most people feel unwell!

I love prints and colour but just think the style and fit of that dress is extremely unflattering and would look awful

squoosh · 09/03/2018 11:28

Margo Leadbetter meets Frida Kahlo. Not a style combo you come across every day.

Thankfully.

Still, if you love it go for it. I like to see people making bold fashion choices even if it's not to my taste.

Finderscrispy · 09/03/2018 11:33

I like the print, but the style and cut is not flattering even on that skinny young model wearing it.

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 09/03/2018 11:36

I like it a lot but you have to have a hell of a vibe to pull it off. Do you op, do you?

newdocket · 09/03/2018 11:38

Hmmm, it's a fair cop. Thanks.
I still weirdly like it but the reality is likely a 'middle-aged woman in retro sack'.
I will save my pennies!

In my head I have the vibe ItsNice!

I also have the vibe in my head Grin

Iwasjustabouttosaythat · 09/03/2018 12:55

I can only see this on a very gorgeous, very thin yet busty, blonde, tanned, shiny-skinned, early 20s woman.

IJustLostTheGame · 09/03/2018 13:13

I love it

But I have boobs. It would look terrible on me
Sad

Joinourclub · 09/03/2018 13:24

I had something very similar circa 1995 styled with DMs. I couldn't pull it off these days!

Upsidedownandinsideout · 09/03/2018 13:27

I love it, if you are delicate and willowy. I'm more hourglassy and would look like an 1810 peasant all dressed up for festival...

newdocket · 09/03/2018 13:31

On the upside, I am fairly willowy and have small boobs. On the down, I am 45 and my skin is shiny in a not-good way.

I love florals but I don't like this the style or the print. Basically I hate it ;-)

Badumdumdum · 09/03/2018 14:21

If it was shorter, maybe sitting on the knee or higher, and has less billowly shorter sleeves it would be good. However as it is it looks horrendous. I hate midcalf length clothes.

AlbertaSimmons · 09/03/2018 14:23

Love it. I'm going to pop in and buy it tomorrow as it's in the sale. Won't buy online.

newdocket · 09/03/2018 14:29

they do have a www.stories.com/gb/Sale/Ready-to-wear/Dresses/Mini_Dress/114723559-0429150007.2short version. Is this better?!

OP posts:
newdocket · 09/03/2018 14:29

SHORT

OP posts:
halfwitpicker · 09/03/2018 14:34

I like it actually but I don't think it'd be flattering.

blueskyinmarch · 09/03/2018 14:36

The long version is hideous but strangely the short version looks lovely.

Upsidedownandinsideout · 09/03/2018 14:56

Scratch what I said before! Short version nicer esp if over 24 years old and size 6...

Skippetydoodah · 09/03/2018 15:01

Love it
