...would it be too frumptastic to buy this and live in it over (thick) leggings all winter? (Am in Aus...winter incoming.)

Do 100%-cotton sweater dresses get a ‘pass’?

Please say yes. Thanks. Wink

I'd wear that with opaque tights, and tbh I've never really understood why people treat leggings differently to thick tights! They look basically the same, no? So I say go for it, that dress would look lovely with dark leggings underneath

HuskyMcClusky · 06/03/2018 14:04

Thanks Buffy. I’m wondering if I could do coloured ones as well...gym leggings, basically?

I’m not talking about going out for lunch or somewhere nice, just walking around shopping etc.

Is it something similar to this ? I bought 2 of these in Next and have lived in them with leggings since I bought them. I am short so could possibly wear with tights but feel more comfortable in leggings.
I'd say go for it.

BarryTheKestrel · 06/03/2018 14:21

I would. I feel more comfortable and less exposed in leggings rather than tights. I don't like the top of my legs in tights at all!

HuskyMcClusky · 06/03/2018 14:23

Pink, yes, it’s kind of like that but double the price 🙄 (because Australia).

Branleuse · 06/03/2018 14:28

I live in dresses and leggings, and anyone who frowns at this can kiss my legging clad arse

BlueKarou · 06/03/2018 14:33

Dress and leggings is a fairly common work outfit for me. Go for it!

HuskyMcClusky · 06/03/2018 14:35

Blue, you are living my dream! I’d never get away with it at work (sadly).

I'd wear this sort of thing with leggings, I just don't like leggings worn sheer material flowy dresses

Purpledahlia88 · 06/03/2018 15:16

Worn with*

0ccamsRazor · 06/03/2018 15:16

Leggings only seem to be frowned upon in mn style and beauty, many women wear them around here, south east UK.

Op it would look lovely with leggings, there are so many different colours out there to chose from.

SingaSong12 · 06/03/2018 15:19

Just call them footless tights, if style gurus allow tights.

HuskyMcClusky · 06/03/2018 15:40

It just seems a shame to ruin the supreme comfort potential of such an item by putting it over jeans.

OP posts:
Tiredmum100 · 06/03/2018 15:49

Why are they frowned upon? That's what I've been wearing all winter, and am actually wearing now. . . .don't tell me I got it wrong?

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 06/03/2018 15:51

I wear leggings under dresses WHILST wielding my loo brush!

Can't understand how I haven't been banned yet!

HuskyMcClusky · 06/03/2018 16:07

Tired, oh, I don’t know...frumpy something something.

I dare you to go over to the French thread and drop in a query about dresses over leggings. Grin

RubbishRobotFromTheDawnOfTime · 06/03/2018 16:14

I’m wearing this with leggings today and it looks nice.

I know dresses with leggings are frowned upon, BUT...
MrsJamin · 06/03/2018 16:29

If you don't wear them under a dress, I don't see how leggings should be worn?! I have horrid skin on my legs and wear leggings all year round! I don't care what the French say! Wink

moofolk · 06/03/2018 16:33

Leggings and dresses is a massive yes from me.
Plain-ish jumper dress and garishly patterned leggings is also what I'm wearing now acceptable.

Mintylemons · 06/03/2018 16:37

Doesn’t matter does it? Are you comfortable? Yes? Then do it. I wear leggings most days either with big jumpers or a shirt and Doc Martins. The 90s never ended for me.

squoosh · 06/03/2018 16:38

Leggings are okay as long as worn with some kind of boot. It's when there's a gap between legging and shoe that I think it looks bad.

beardybeardy · 06/03/2018 16:42

love it this is what I wear all the time and I certainly don't look frumpy

cupcake007 · 06/03/2018 16:52

I always wear leggings and dresses to work. 😬

slug · 06/03/2018 16:56

My Australian SIL rocks the leggings under dresses look. Go for it.

FrickingNora · 06/03/2018 17:12

Any recommendations for comfy leggings that don't go all baggy round the knees? (sorry OP - just hijacking your thread! Blush) I'm 5'4 - size 12/14
