...would it be too frumptastic to buy this and live in it over (thick) leggings all winter? (Am in Aus...winter incoming.)

Do 100%-cotton sweater dresses get a ‘pass’?

Please say yes. Thanks. Wink

I think you've misunderstood the French thread, if it's the one I think you mean...

Go for it, OP.

FlippingFoal · 06/03/2018 17:58

Why are leggings frowned on? I ALWAYS wear short dressed with leggings eek!

Dozyoldtwonk · 06/03/2018 21:14

I wear leggings a lot but my one golden rule is my bum MUST be covered…so dresses, long line jumpers or T’s are acceptable Grin

Two fingers to anyone who is anti-leggings, BTW Grin

Bluesheep8 · 07/03/2018 07:48

I wear similar to that with leggings all the time, It's my go to outfit!

CurlyRover · 07/03/2018 07:52

Well I'm currently wearing leggings and a t-shirt that barely covers my bum. I normally wear them with a dress but since my washing machine packed up my dresses are all in the wash.

It's comfy, that's all I care about Smile

Lidlfix · 07/03/2018 08:02

Husky (off topic) Next delivers to Aus. My DSis would be lost without their Tall range. Sometimes it's free if not nothing like standard shipping rates. She thinks Next must be trying to capture online market. But I could be ejected from S & B for mentioning Next.

TheNavigator · 07/03/2018 08:25

It is just a matter of taste. I wouldn't wear legging and I think leggings with a dress looks dreadful, so I don;t wear them. I would wear that dress with opaque tights and ankle boots. Leggings would break the line up, to my mind, and look scruffy.

moofolk · 07/03/2018 08:28

frickingnora Black Milk do the best leggings in the world imo. Ship from Australia. Not cheap and some of their stuff is dreadful but some is wonderful. All excellent quality though

FlippingFoal · 07/03/2018 10:06

If you were wearing leggings with ankle boots you wouldn't even be able to tell they aren't opaque tights as the boots would come above the bottom. Except they are a damn site comfier...

TheNavigator · 07/03/2018 11:12

I think if you wear legging in such a way as you can't tell they are leggings then that is fine. The leggings under a dress with a gap before a shoe is grim, in my opinion. Unless you are pregnant, when it is practical. So if you want to be comfortable, maybe OK - but stylish? Never.

Hunter007 · 07/03/2018 11:40

That's what I've been wearing since October!

Jon66 · 07/03/2018 11:43

Skinny jeans are an alternative.

Elledorado · 07/03/2018 11:45

Honestly op, I associate leggings with the gym and pregnancy (& outer suburban centres)

FlippingFoal · 07/03/2018 12:43

Jon66 a lot of employers have a policy of no jeans in the workplace. Mine are happy for you to wear leggings with a dress though. I can't wear tights sadly due to allergies :( I like pretty dresses but the nhs trust I work for has a no bare legs dress code.

TheNavigator · 07/03/2018 13:32

Fair enough FlippingFoal but that reinforces my practicality over style point. It is not a deliberate style choice. If you can choose - don't choose leggings. First rule of the style club Grin

ElspethFlashman · 07/03/2018 13:35

Wait a sec, what about leggings and trainers if a skin gap is objectionable?

I only wear cropped leggings so does that make it more or less acceptable?

Sofabitch · 07/03/2018 13:35

I only ever wear leggings under dresses...Good job I don't give a fuck what any one thinks of me.

I don't understand why people have enough time in their lives to give a fuck about what they wear.

TheNavigator · 07/03/2018 13:43

Erm, you do know you are on the 'Style and Beauty' section? Giving a fuck about what you wear is kind of its point Grin

HuskyMcClusky · 07/03/2018 14:17

Welllll, the model in the picture is wearing the sweater dress with trainers. But...it’s a long-sleeved sweater dress. For winter. My legs will fucking freeze. And you can’t exactly wear opaques with trainers.

So my logic was...dress, leggings, trainers. Or not. Grin

HuskyMcClusky · 07/03/2018 14:18

Oh, and it’ll be short on me anyway (5’11” and all leg), so would prob look mildly obscene without something underneath.

OP posts:
Pinkkahori · 07/03/2018 18:06

I'd avoid the Next ones I linked to then OP unless they do a tall version! They are dress length on me but I am barely 5'2.

mimibunz · 07/03/2018 18:14

But is that really a dress? It looks like a tunic. Anyway, I only wear leggings at home.

HuskyMcClusky · 07/03/2018 18:51

Pink, thank you for the info though! I had no idea that Next did a tall line, I’ll check it out. Smile

mimi, website says ‘sweater dress’, so I guess so.

OP posts:
Elledorado · 08/03/2018 06:15

I love seed but I dont know how you'd style that in winter op. If you're really leggy then it will prob just look like a long grey jumper ...
