Is Monsoon sizing on the small side??

Because I ordered this dress in my usual size 10, and I couldn't even button up the skirt! I don't even think a size 12 would have been much better.
If any stick insect would like to purchase this dress, do so online as it's full price in the shop.

I haven't bought anything for a while but they always used to be on the very generous cut side.

ASDismynormality · 04/03/2018 15:38

I find Monsoon really inconsistent, same size can fit, cling or hang off!

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 04/03/2018 15:38

I hate to say but I think their sizing is generous?

Maybe it is that particular dress which has been cut small (which may be why it's in the sale?)

MagnifyingGlassSearch · 04/03/2018 15:39

Well RJnomore that's not what I wanted to hear, not at all. For context, I have recently bought Phase Eight's Lia trousers, and they're big on me. I am a standard M&S size 10, also in Jigsaw.

I find it generous. My favourite ever dress is Monsoon and a size 6. I'm an 8. I always size down.

Sounds like they're actually inconsistent.

MaverickSnoopy · 04/03/2018 15:42

I find them generous too. I'm an 18 and fit their 16 which never happens elsewhere. Doesn't mean you're wrong though.

Alison100199 · 04/03/2018 15:43

Generous I'm afraid.

Auntpetunia2015 · 04/03/2018 15:43

Glad you think they size small. I bought a lovely dress in my usual 12 it won’t go near me. I’ve had to get a 14 instead I was gutted. But then tried on a pair of jigsaw trousers and they are my usual 12 ! Madness

WindyWednesday · 04/03/2018 15:44

The children’s clothes are very very small. My 5 year old had to buy a 9-10 skirt for it to fit her. She is normal sized. The sales assistant told me they come up small. But I don’t know about adults.

DullAndOld · 04/03/2018 15:46

I had some denim Bermuda shorts from there that seemed really generous tbh.

pimlicolife · 04/03/2018 15:46

It s usually on the generous side, but definitely not always the case. I've had one or two rogue small items!

LockedOutOfMN · 04/03/2018 15:46

The adult clothes come up very large, in my experience. I've got an overcoat and several formal dresses that are UK size 6 and not at all tight (I like my clothes loose). I'm an 8 or 10 everywhere else.

Anythingforacatslife · 04/03/2018 15:47

I think their sizes are generous, I still fit in a 16 there, but sadly nowhere else.

MagnifyingGlassSearch · 04/03/2018 15:54

This is not sounding good for me is it?

greenlanes · 04/03/2018 15:55

I find Monsoon very skimpily cut and tight. I am an M&S 10 and often cant get into a monsoon 12. if i can the shoulders are too big and bust to small. Their sizing is beyond weird and for the price just disgusting.

katplva · 04/03/2018 16:02

I'd agrees with pps that the sizing is generally quite generous, but I have always found that their clothes are cut for smaller hips and bust sizes. So it might just be the cut of the dress rather than the actual size IYSWIM?

Slightlyperturbedowlagain · 04/03/2018 16:06

I used to find it was always generous but in the last year it has been totally inconsistent and quite off-putting since I nearly got stuck in a size 12 velvet and sequin party dress in November. Weirdly I had to go down to a size 10 in the dress I did buy as the 12 was enormous Confused

redmarkone · 04/03/2018 16:15

i bought two ruffle yoke cotton blouses recently and they were on the large side in my opinion.

redmarkone · 04/03/2018 16:20

one was denim style and the other a lighter weight white cotton, so not exactly the same.

MagnifyingGlassSearch · 04/03/2018 17:05

Well, if anyone buys this dress, I'd love to know hoe they get on with it.
Still looking for a flattering denim dress for a short pear.

ScreamingValenta · 04/03/2018 17:09

If you fit a size 10 in everything else it sounds as though this particular dress is either cut very small or has been wrongly sized. I don't think you should be concerned unless your usual size 10 clothes feel tight.

CatherineMaitland · 04/03/2018 17:16

Perhaps it's the shape, I have a big bust and hips and a short-ish waist and find Monsoon clothes just don't fit me nicely.

verite · 04/03/2018 19:17

Monsoon usually huge. I am one or two dress sizes smaller in there.

Kitsharrington · 04/03/2018 21:29

Really big sizing, sorry.

SnowiestMountain · 04/03/2018 21:31

I don't find them generous OP!! Blush
