Chin hair nightmare

What started out as two single hairs on each side of my chin at aged 19 has now turned into a mountain of growth on each side. It seemed to get worse after I had my DC.

I can't afford laser. Bleaching won't work as my foundation would cling to it. I've plucked, trimmed and tried home waxing (fail). If I got a professional wax I couldn't stand the growing it out period.

Should I start shaving? Hmm

I'd try Vaniqua cream if the hairs are course ones. It weakens them.

I have two small chin patches and get them waxed every 3 weeks and use the cream daily.

Sometimes I pluck odd one in between

MarthasGinYard · 04/03/2018 08:50

I personally wouldn't shave them

bastardkitty · 04/03/2018 08:52

I had electrolysis. It hurts a bit but it made a massive difference.

cheezy · 04/03/2018 08:53

I have quite a bit of coarse chin hair and spend quite a bit of time plucking - in the car is best. I actually really enjoy the satisfaction of getting a little bugger. But it is getting worse over time. No advice I'm afraid, I'm going to check out this vaniqua cream

I saw a new jml product asvertised on tv last night called flawless. It was £20 for removing facial har seemed pretty compact and is meant to be good for even the fine hair. Am going to go to boots and eye it up as my chin is no smooth area either!xxx

Babymamamama · 04/03/2018 08:53

The lumea might work for you. It's a considered investment but very effective depending on your skin type. And very quick to use.

Betsy86 · 04/03/2018 08:54

Im also going to look for that cream!

runningoutofjuice · 04/03/2018 08:57

Have you tried one of these? It was recommended to me the other day but I haven't tried it myself. It's a coil of wire that traps the hair and takes seconds to do a whole moustache apparently

I wouldn't bother with the JML Flawless thing, it looks just like a lipstick shaped version of the NoNo hair removal device which is utter useless unless you happen to have a thing for the smell of singed hair and like having rough burnt stubble in your face.

I pluck most days and shave my face using a facial razor with my usual face wash every couple of weeks. Not perfect but keeps it all at bay.

Ploppymoodypants · 04/03/2018 09:02

Runningoutofjuice. I have one of those wire twirly things and use it silly. Quick go over of chin and all hair gone. I use it for fine hair on upper lip as well. But it’s great for chin bristles. Best £1.99 I ever spent. Takes 2 ticks

StickyPopcorn · 04/03/2018 09:03

Mine is awful too. Waxing makes me break out. Plucking is hit and miss. Go out in sunlight and I look like a yeti.

I’ve taken to shaving twice a week in the shower

runningoutofjuice · 04/03/2018 09:05

I think I might buy one then ploppy. My friend was looking at one for £20 which seemed really expensive but I don't mind spending a couple of pounds

SnackSnackEatAndCrave · 04/03/2018 09:06

I'm practically the bearded lady since having a baby. Whyyyy?!
I've tried waxing which does get the worst off, and then tweezers for the rest. It's annoying and takes far too much time but I can't afford any longer term treatments.
I'm interested in a twirly wire thing though, must be worth a try!

AllTheUserNamesAreTaken · 04/03/2018 09:07

ploppy where did you get it from for £2? Wouldn't mind trying it but it's showing as over £30 on Amazon!

MayhapsIAm · 04/03/2018 09:08

I use one of those bendy things and tweezers - I would look like a male hipster if I didn't (that'd be cool actually though DP might not concur). Bendy springy thing is the best invention EVER!

Killybashangel · 04/03/2018 09:11

I use a braun silk epil epilator

runningoutofjuice · 04/03/2018 09:13

Just bought a springy thing from Amazon for £1.39! Unfortunately didn't see it was coming from Florida so will have to wait a couple of weeks to see if it works.

enpointeredshoes · 04/03/2018 09:14

Is it downy hair or coarse hair?

Mrsjellybum · 04/03/2018 09:22

I have dark thick hairs on chin and lip (PCOS)
I find the only way is plucking. With the occasional wax when it gets too much.

Tip: exfoliate regularly to prevent ingrowing hairs and spots

FairfaxAikman · 04/03/2018 10:05

I did have mine lasers a few years ago but it's been a waste of money as pregnancy hormones have given me a Viking beard.
I was getting weekly threading (£5 a pop) but after being unable to get there recently I went sod it and used my epilator- pleased with the results

woodhill · 04/03/2018 10:09

I'm nervous about making facial hair worse. I have had threading on top lip which is effective but hurts like hell and waxing in chin which isn't too bad.

My hair is mainly fair and downy but get the odd tough dark one on chin

EyeDrops · 04/03/2018 10:11

Ive just ordered a springy thing from amazon, £6.45... worth a try! I spent years shaving upper lip & plucking chin but I've just turned 30 and it's getting worse... let's hope it works!

DumbledoresArmy · 04/03/2018 10:18

What's the coil thingy called? I might get one

thenewaveragebear1983 · 04/03/2018 10:22

Vaniqa cream- £80 a tube from Lloyd’s pharmacy! That will be a no from me then!!

I have terrible chin hair, I have pcos and it got significantly worse with each pregnancy. I have a Lumea which I have been advised could take a year of regular use to make any difference, so I currently use it weekly and shave in between. It’s horrible but it’s the only way to get rid of it. I use a very thick foundation also to cover the little black dots which is the hairs underneath.

SenoritaViva · 04/03/2018 10:26

Is the coil thing painful. I found threading unbearable (I home wax so I am not unused to a bit of pain!)
