Chin hair nightmare

8SaltandVinegar · 04/03/2018 08:47

What started out as two single hairs on each side of my chin at aged 19 has now turned into a mountain of growth on each side. It seemed to get worse after I had my DC.

I can't afford laser. Bleaching won't work as my foundation would cling to it. I've plucked, trimmed and tried home waxing (fail). If I got a professional wax I couldn't stand the growing it out period.

Should I start shaving? Hmm

It's not hair remover

It's a prescription cream

longtallwalker · 04/03/2018 15:34

My Philips Lumea has removed the hairs on my chinny chin, and my tache. I'm a dark haired hairy lady who has had a lifetime of bleaching.

Definitely get one of those twisty wire coil thingamajigs. Mine has changed my (bristly face haired) life and it was only pennies from eBay. Give it a go and watch a video on YouTube to get it right. Best of luck

soupmaker · 04/03/2018 15:41

I'm seriously considering a Lumea. Have to pluck every day and hate sunny weather. Got a lot worse since had kids and being closer to 50 than 40. I have hairless face envy.

I bought a Me My Elos several years ago following successful salon IPL, and it's paid for itself in no time. Drastic improvement in face, underarm and leg hair. I literally have about half a dozen underarm hairs on one side now, and I can go for months without shaving/epilating my once thick dark hairy legs. Such an improvement in my confidence and quality of life (used to have to shave legs every other day).

Electrolysis might be worth trying. I had it done every 4 weeks (same length of time that I had been waxing) and the hairs are nearly all gone and those that are there are much finer and lighter.

Now, I'll not lie, it took a few years but I would have been going to the beautician anyway for waxing (still do get upper lip waxed as it was too sore for electrolysis) and it's not prohibitively expensive, like laser and no shaving.

Worth the pain, I think.

The person who develops a really effective solution will be a millionaire.
It's especially hard if the hairs are coarse but not really dark- mine are red coloured so show but not dark enough for laser treatment.
I found that spring thing useless, even waxing doesn't work, nor hair remover cream, because they're too strong.
I might try electrolysis but last time I did I broke out in lots of little spots which put me off.
Good luck OP.

I use the Braun facial epilator and it has honestly changed my life. The pack comes with a little mirror with a light so you can really see all the little buggers and get every last one! It keeps me smooth for a couple of weeks.

Another vote for the springy wire thing. Got mine for a couple of pounds on ebay. Very quick and easy, especially for the jaw line. Love mine!

Branleuse · 04/03/2018 16:17

cant you just pluck it? I always pluck my beard.

PoshPenny · 04/03/2018 16:21

I get my chin hair threaded now, it's the best method ive found. Electrolysis was a very expensive waste of time.

DdJames · 04/03/2018 16:44

I can't get the springy thing to work! I've tried many many times and not one hair pulled! And it's a tweezerman one so shouldn't be duff- someone please give me the secret knack!?!

Oblomov18 · 04/03/2018 16:46

I've got electrolysis now booked for Wednesday!
I had electrolysis for years on my chin, then I just stopped needing it.
Now, clearly, I do again.

I'm not sure what to do about my upper lip. It's always been quite 'downy'. In fact I have a very 'downy' face generally.
Not sure what the best solution for that is??????

Fintress · 04/03/2018 16:53

@runningoutofjuice, I have one of those. Can be bloody painful but it works Tweezy

8SaltandVinegar · 04/03/2018 17:04

Brilliant. Thank you. Must look at the springy wire thing to start.

runningoutofjuice · 04/03/2018 17:19

Ah. I was hoping it wouldn't be! Anyway I should get mine delivered in a couple of weeks and we'll see...

mommybear1 · 05/03/2018 10:50

Hi Perf yes it is and yes it can be painful 😖 but the benefits of it versus plucking /shaving are worth it - particularly post baby as I seem to have turned into Cousin ITWink

woodhill · 05/03/2018 17:38

I've ordered the epi stick

8SaltandVinegar · 05/03/2018 23:27

I wasn't feeling 100% today so I dragged a razor over the two sides of the HC (hairy chin). Can't believe I've admitted I have this in 'public' Hmm

NameChangeOnTheRegular · 05/03/2018 23:35

Really try the springy things... mine is called 'tweezy' on amazon and it's bloody brilliant. I'm considering getting a back up.

Partypopper123 · 06/03/2018 22:23

I've just ordered the epistick.

woodhill · 07/03/2018 19:29

Mine has arrived

runningoutofjuice · 07/03/2018 19:40

Can we have some before and after picsGrin

woodhill · 07/03/2018 20:35

You are joking Smile

8SaltandVinegar · 07/03/2018 20:40

I'll order my Tweezy next week? Tell me how it works? How fast per acre of chin hair? Getting excited about this. Grin
