Can anyone help me find a wedding dress like this?

I've been trying to contact a dress maker who makes this type of dress on and off for the last year and have had not much luck so as my wedding is now his year I am giving up and trying to find an alternative but haven't had much luck yet.

Can anyone help me find a dress like this?

I don't mind preowned or samples as I don't have a huge budget.

Il a size 12/14

Oxfam have an online wedding dress shop for pre owned dresses

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 02/03/2018 10:25

What's your budget?

springmachine · 02/03/2018 10:28

I had a look at online oxfam but it was a little while ago now. Il try again.

Ideally I want to spend £300 on the dress to allow for alterations and shoes, but I could go to a maximum of £500

That's a brilliant find by the PP,

Are you anywhere near Manchester? I walk past this dressmaker's shop sometimes and she has lots of 50s style dresses in her photos in the window. There's more variety in her online gallery but if you scroll down there are lots similar.

Some bargains here

Look at dig for victory and also chichi. They make that style.

Etsy is also great. Lots of dressmakers there.

Rockchick1984 · 02/03/2018 10:45

Loads of similar styles here

MagicFajita · 02/03/2018 10:47

If you have a high budget I'd have suggested house of mooshki. You might get a second hand one on ebay though.

I had this style of dress for my wedding so did a lot of research!

Happies · 02/03/2018 10:47

Candy anthony do 50s styles wedding dresses... not sure on prices though.

MagicFajita · 02/03/2018 10:50

@Happies, they are about £500+. Beautiful though.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 02/03/2018 11:01

Have you looked at Light in the Box?

Happies · 02/03/2018 11:17

Ohh what about Vivienne of Holloway?

Also a dress maker near me in Essex does similar styles, I let me find the details x

Don't know if they are anywhere near you...

PlainPiglet · 02/03/2018 11:25

Looks like a Lizzie Jayne:
www.etsy.com/shop/lizziejayne

but as she seems to have stopped trading, perhaps you could try this place:

Legend Bridal - www.legendbridaldesigns.co.uk/

This lady did my adjustments on a dress as a referral from my dress shop, if I’d have met them beforehand I would have bought my dress here instead. Fab shop and would definitely be able/ have that sort of style.

springmachine · 02/03/2018 11:31

Yes it was a Lizzie Jayne. I had been following her since 2012, but when the time came for me to be getting married she has stopped making them.
She has some samples left but I haven't been able to reach her .

Thank you all for so many suggestions

I saw the house of mooski before and loved them but too much money for me.

I've heard terrible things about light in the box so don't want to risk it there.

Etsy is a good shout and thanks for the other companies Grin

Ps - I'm based in Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire so if anyone knows any around there...

@OhHolyFuck that chichi one looks lovely and is so cheap! Should I be worried it's only £40?

I'm very tempted!!!

SilverHairedCat · 02/03/2018 11:36

Ebay.

SilverHairedCat · 02/03/2018 11:36

Sorry, I mean second hand not Chinese knock offs!

OhHolyFuck · 02/03/2018 11:38

I'd order it for a try @springmachine, what have you got to lose? And if it's as nice as it looks, then more to spend on shoes! Grin

springmachine · 02/03/2018 11:38

@SilverHairedCat
eBay was my first port of call the other day and I searched and searched but it was so difficult sifting through the Chinese ones.

I even changed my search to uk only and the Chinese makers seem to get around this Angry

@OhHolyFuck totally right there.
I've got my eye on a pair of Vivienne Westwood lady dragon shoes.
Would love to have some money in the budget for some fab posh underwear too

My cousin got a similar one from chichiclothing. Think hers was about £70 but quality was absolutely fine and she looked lovely. You could always buy it and return if you don't like it when it arrives for that price.
