Alternative to White Stuff? It's gone so downhill!

Having lost some weight, I'm looking for new clothes. I used to love White Stuff but I think their recent collections are so boring! Please, any suggestions of other brands where I can try things on. I don't have to be too poshed up for work, so WS has been good for me up until now. Snowy wastes of Edinburgh.

Following but no suggestions. All their stuff is so dowdy, shapeless and hideous necklines. 5 years ago everything was beautiful!

I go to Boden for dresses now.

coffeemugged · 01/03/2018 16:24

No suggestions but watching with interest.

WS is awful lately. I was pleased that they have finally started kids clothes too - until I saw them 😟

I remember the days when WS only had a few shops and we used to go in when visiting Spitalfields Market as a proper treat. Happy days!

Fat face instead? Or joules is along the same lines I think?

KochabRising · 01/03/2018 17:05

Following - used to live in their stuff but the quality and style has nosedived recently - the fabrics are much cheaper and the prints and shapes are awful.

JessyJames · 01/03/2018 17:06

Seasalt?

KochabRising · 01/03/2018 17:09

Fat face is dowdy these days too. Sea salt great quality but v shapeless at the moment

Never been impressed with joules - I want natural fibres...

Cattenberg · 01/03/2018 17:11

Mistral?

Flower752 · 01/03/2018 17:14

I agree that White stuff not so good now, much better selection at Fat Face.

Kochicoo · 01/03/2018 17:31

Mantaray at Debenhams look similar maybe?

Kochicoo · 01/03/2018 17:32

the dresses anyway - not sure about other stuff

BillieN0mates · 01/03/2018 17:35

I don't like whitestuff at all!

I am not championing any ONE of these sites but I tend to look at loads of sites before buying anything. Tommy Hilfiger, Jigsaw, Ted Baker, Oasis, Hobbs, Mint Velvet for jeans, massimo dutti for tops and jumpers, very very occasionally Whistles.. Very occasionally Jaeger. Sometimes Kos, London Finery.
Shops I never bother with any more are h&m and zara and top shop and river island. I am too old I guess!
Looked on joe browns and swedish 'godrun' (?) site and that look not for me at all.

I love discovering a new shop/site.

PuppyMonkey · 01/03/2018 17:38

Definitely Fat Face.

LunaTheCat · 01/03/2018 18:35

I loved whitestuff 6 or 7 yrs ago too. Agreee done down the plug hole. I think my taste has changed too though - more simple aesthetic a la Scandinavia ie cos.

Time40 · 01/03/2018 18:41

Sandwich. I love it. (I get all mine pre-loved from Ebay, as it's a touch expensive).

kaykay72 · 01/03/2018 18:42

Mistral have some nice things, similar styling to how ws used to be and the cut and fabric quality is nicer than the current ws. I can’t understand white stuff these days - if the dresses look shapeless and unflattering on the models, they’re not going to look great on a normal woman

SukiTheDog · 01/03/2018 18:45

I used to love white stuff. Their quality has gone down hill rapidly since they opened a shop on every high street. I never look at it now.

Sorry, no suggestions but well done, on the weight loss!

haventkilledtheorchidyet · 01/03/2018 19:54

thanks everyone. I'd never heard of Mistral before but it looks lovely. Thoughts on Hush?

Nicola Quilter reminds me of some of the good old days of WS.

neveradullmoment99 · 01/03/2018 19:57

Hush is my favourite. Join us on the Hush thread or read through for advice on some nice buys.

KochabRising · 01/03/2018 19:58

I’ve not been too impressed with mistral. Bought two dresses from there, they washed out of colour and shrank on the first 30 degree wash and customer services were all ‘fuck you.’ so i never bought from there again.

Wouldn’t mind trying cos - although their styling on the models is horrendous. ‘Ok, no do t wash you hair for a week... ok slump, slouch... yes that’s it... look really miserable and greasy... camera loves you darling!’

BikeRunSki · 01/03/2018 20:03

IME, Mistral stuff is daily poor quality.

Zippyboo2 · 01/03/2018 20:06

I discovered Brakeburn recently

KnockMeDown · 01/03/2018 20:07

I have bought a couple of lovely items in White Stuff recently, and found the quality and fit leagues ahead of both Mistral and Mantaray. I bought a skirt and a dress and fabric weight of both was lovely.

endehors · 01/03/2018 20:08

I was thinking the same about White Stuff. They sent me a 20% off voucher a week or so ago and I couldn't find a thing I wanted to buy.

Joules has gone downhill too but not recently. Too much jersey, cheap fabrics etc
