Is this dress really unflattering?

I saw it on their website and immediately thought it looked quite nice, but having looked at it a bit longer, I'm wondering whether it is really unflattering and a horrible dress?

I normally love pinafores etc, so it is a slightly different shape to my usual style.

Sorry but I think it’s unflattering, I think it’s the length, it’s too short in comparison to the straps.

PaperdollCartoon · 01/03/2018 09:04

As with many things I think it entirely depends on your body shape. The lighter denim will be less flattering for many, but I do like it. I don’t think it would look right on my chubby hourglass shape though.

VictoriaLo · 01/03/2018 09:05

Yes, I was also unsure about the lighter denim...I wish they did it in a darker shade and maybe that would look better. I'm just unsure about the neckline...and I also don't really like the strappy cross over back - many of my pinafores have much neater backs (that sounds bonkers!)

You would need very small boobs and very good legs. And to be slim. And preferably under 18.

(In which case everything is flattering anyway Grin)

Undercoverbanana · 01/03/2018 09:09

I really like it. I think it would be a nightmare on someone booby, though. I love the top too.

VictoriaLo · 01/03/2018 09:10

I am a 30F...sometimes my boobs look quite big, and sometimes they look very small, so I'm not sure if I qualify as too big-boobed for the dress!

ijustwannadance · 01/03/2018 09:11

I like it but definately depends on body shape. I'm pear shaped and would find the waist bit too baggy.
Top bit is ok unless you have big boobs.

VictoriaLo · 01/03/2018 09:13

Also, because the model is tall, and I am short, I am hoping the length looks longer in real life

Size 6 DD has it (she’s 13) and it’s not even incredibly flattering on her to be honest as although she’s slim she does have boobs and a bum.
I think to look really good in it you need quite a straight up and down figure.

WowserBowser · 01/03/2018 09:13

I was a 30F and don't think you are too booby!

VictoriaLo · 01/03/2018 09:19

Hmm I might give it a go and see...don't know unless I try it on!

OP posts:
Undercoverbanana · 01/03/2018 09:24

Go for it OP. (I’m tempted although it’s way off my price range.). I think it’s a good length on the model. Any longer and I’d be sweaty and itchy. I’m size 8, 32E and 50 years knackered, but I have good legs and no fucks to give if people think I should shop at Next!

VictoriaLo · 01/03/2018 09:26

@Undercoverbanana Just a heads up, if you are going to buy it or try it, the sizing is very off this season (it is coming up really big for some reason!) I bought a pair of their dungarees and a different pinafore dress in a size 6, and I am not a size 6!
It sounds like the dress will look great on you btw, I'm jealous of your good legs!

VictoriaLo · 01/03/2018 09:27

Also, they do a lot of promotions and discounts (I never buy anything full price from there)...so if you're going to buy it, I'd wait until they do another 25% off promo :)

VictoriaLo - thanks for the tips! Lots of running is good for the legs!

DontCallMeCharlotte · 01/03/2018 09:35

I really like the shape and colour but the neckline looks like it's on back to front? (even though it obviously isn't).

VictoriaLo · 01/03/2018 09:56

Yes my first thought was the back and neckline look strange...I wish they'd put better straps on the back

OP posts:
ScreamingLevitation · 01/03/2018 10:03

Honestly... To look good in that you'd need to be age 5.

VictoriaLo · 01/03/2018 10:18

People say that about pinafore bib dresses as well, but I think they look lovely on people of all ages

NearlyChristmasNow · 01/03/2018 10:31

I love it. Wish I was 2 stone lighter Smile

VictoriaLo · 01/03/2018 14:37

There aRe some real mixed reactions here! I do wonder, if I bought it, what I would wear it with. If only it was a darker denim and you could wear it during the winter months as well

Sounds like there's a few things you're not sure about. Have a look on ASOS they have loads of denim pinafores and you might find one you like more.

HonkyWonkWoman · 01/03/2018 18:47

I've seen much better style pinafore dresses.
It seems out of balance some how.
The scoop is too low, I think that's what it is but you couldn't shorten the straps as the back would be too high.
It's not right!

I think its really nice :) I think it should be longer on you. I like the straps. The only thing that would bug me is that its pale. I like a darker denim.
