What size does 28 Waist correspond to?

Was looking to buy a pair of jeans. I'm normally a size 10. But on AndOtherStories they do the sizing by waist siZe. Would a 28 waist be a size 10?

Size 28 is usually a size 10. I have no idea about &otherstories though, sorry.

I would say a 10 but you might want to try a 27 as well.

Depends on your hips? My waist stays pretty consistently at 28 but hips can be anywhere from 35-39 which makes a huge difference in sizing. Try this site and see what it says.

I'd say 28" is a size 12. They might be a bit for you, OP.

I don't think 28" is a 12, more a 10. I wear 29" waist and I'm a 10.

Can you not measure your waist?

It sounds like a 10 to me, but I find waist size is only helpful if they actually end at your waist. Most jeans don't at the moment, so it's about as much use as fitting them by shoe size. Hope they're ok.

GummyGoddess that site reflects what the shops claim their sizes are rather than the truth. In my experience I am consistently down a size from what that website says. Probably because most clothes have bigger waists than the shops claim so if you buy based on waist size (which that site seems to prioritise) clothes will fall off. I buy by hip and bust size and find they still fit on the waist.

Yes clothes sizing is so weird, I agree. Hence I am so unsure as what waist size to buy 😂 I buy some clothes from jack wills, I'm a size 6 there sometimes, sometimes I'm an 8, and also a 10! How can there be that much range, and that's only for one shop!

Jeans in size 28” are a 10. Always have been afaik as I wore 26” jeans as a size 8 in the 80s.

I also remember when 24" was size 10. I wore 10-12 at the time. I'm now about a stone heavier but size 8-10. I'd probably be a 14 now in old money.

My waist (around natural waist line) is 32" and I'm a 14, so that sounds right to me.

I'm a 12 and wear 28 inch jeans (my waist is bang on 28 inches. I just measured!)

I'm size 8 and wear 27. I think 28 is a large size 8 and a small size 10. it's kind of inbetween

I would go as far to say in my day (ahem) a 10 was a 22" waist

I used to make a lot of my clothes and my waist was a 25. Chelsea girl used to do a size 13 in jeans which were just perfect size for me

When i was slim I wore 32s and they were equivalent to a 14.

I'll update you all tomorrow on whether they fit (fingers crossed they do!)

For the last 20 years or so, I am sure 26= 8, 28=10, 30=12 and so on.
