I've got a couple of smart London restaurant events.
5'10 size 14 with a thick middle aged tyre, 50.

Not looking to be cutting edged but not Country Bumpkin which I am

Phase 8 is lovely and the warehouse is fun. Original dress has the potential for frump and unless you're able to add a bright heel and/or lip, IMO it's a bit officey

I think the fabric is likely to be pretty nasty on the Warehouse one and I'm not a fan of those sleeves.

I got this last week. Stripe dress

It’s of a similar ilk but a flattering shape. I’m a 14 with thick middle too (a couple of inches shorter than you) and the tie waist hides lumps and bumps.
It’s quite thin material so I wear it with a slip under.

As you are lovely and tall, I’d suggest smart tailored black trousers and a fabulous blouse/shirt and nice belt. And heels - I’m tall and love towering on heels!

I think it would droopy, unflattering, would show any tyre that anybody had. Plus it's really dull. Sorry!

Lace dress is lovely.

Kissmycousinkate · 25/02/2018 17:07

What about the bravissimo dress with a blazer if you want to hide your middle and the you could change accessories for the different occasions, something a bit dressy for out with friends and understated for works dinner.

The lace dress is lovely, but very dressy and a bit Christmas party in the evening-ish. The Next dress is nice, but very casual.
