Botox heavy brow

So I had Botox in my forehead 8 days ago to get rid of horizontal expression lines. The first two days it looked great, but as the botox has really settled in, the side effect is my brow has dropped and my eyelid crease has pretty much gone. Basically I have hardly any visible eye lid anymore and 'baggy' skin on the lid. I'm a youngish looking 44 and eyelids looked fine before this.

Having read around there's not much that can be done other than wait for the effects to wear off. I've got a follow up appointment next week (reputable provider, administered by a Dr) so I'll see what they say, but any tips for managing this for the next few months? I foresee the bulk buying of eyelid tape ... Confused

Can you post a photo? Maybe you’re just overly critical?

wittygritty · 23/02/2018 09:05

I'd rather not post a photo as it'd be outing, but I can assure you I've gone from normal eyelids to hardly any!

Not me, but as a rough approximation I've basically gone from the image on the right to the image in the left

I get this, although not as extreme as yours sounds. My lady puts a shot of Botox underneath my brows to give them a lift which helps. I only have a very small amount in my forehead horizontal lines now as it's a balancing act between a smooth forehead or hooded eyes, which I think looks worse than wrinkles! It will wear off in a few weeks but see if they can put some in your eyebrows to balance it out at your next appointment. Is it the first time you've had it? If so your practioner will get used to how much you need, maybe err on the side of caution next time and get it topped up if needs be.

The same thing happened to me. It's very disappointing. I looked angry for months. Curling my eyelashes softened the look a little. I abandoned all eye make up, apart from mascara, and wore a strong lipstick to make lips the focal point.

wittygritty · 23/02/2018 09:16

Thanks Chardonnay, yes first time. I'll ask if they can correct it like you suggest, although I'm a bit nervous of making things worse. I completely agree that the eyelid issue is more ageing than the wrinkles!

I doubt it will make it worse, just stop any further droop. I've had Botox for 5 years and it took 2/3 sessions to get the amount right for me. And it's probably far more obvious to you than anyone else! Lots of highlighter eyeshadow on your brow bone helps disguise it too.

martellandginger · 23/02/2018 09:26

Do you have a follow up consultation in 2 weeks? Speak to them then. How good is your forehead? if its totally line free then maybe you have too much and could ask for a less of a dosage next time.

wittygritty · 23/02/2018 09:26

Thanks Mulberry. I had a little filler in my lips too and they look good, so lips, lips, lips from here on in Smile

This happened to me (I had Botox for migraines) I couldn't apply eyeliner anymore on the top eyelid & when I attempted to apply mascara, it ended up smudged on my upper eyelid. I hated it, yes I bought eyelid tape, but I'm useless at faffing about with stuff like that.

Didn't help my migraines either! But I was persuaded to have a second round of injections! I spoke to the nurse who administered the injections & they have to follow site injections for migraines. So once again I was left looking like a femail Simon Cowell! Needless to say I didn't have a 3rd go, I hated the feeling of not being able to move my forehead & it really didn't help with my migraines. As a result, I now have one eyebrow that is permanently higher/more arched than the other. Sorry I haven't been much help!

DianaT1969 · 24/02/2018 20:07

I understand that putting a small amount in the deep muscle located between the eyebrows counteracts the fall caused by botox to forehead horizontal lines. Apparently that muscle sheet is thin, like serrano ham and relaxing the muscles causes droop. Opposing lift is required below to counteract. Go back and ask.

lovemylover · 24/02/2018 20:57

Dont have anymore put in it will make it worse, i have this on one side much worse than yours, i have one eye almost closed,I ended up also with 2 black eyes, i feel like a freak, she put a second lot in which made it worse, all you can do is wait,i am having to wear glasses until it wears off, its awful
I would send you a pic, but cant send them privately

lovemylover · 24/02/2018 21:02

Had mine in December and still not worn off, it could take months

lucy101101 · 24/02/2018 21:51

I remember thinking that was what had happened to Helen Hunt in The Sessions, hopefully it will wear off.

lovemylover · 24/02/2018 23:30

Who is Helen Hunt and the sessions ? not heard of her

ParkerT · 08/09/2019 18:40

Just wondering if all your side effects wore off? I have bad brow droop. One worse than the other and I have a black eye. It looks like a bag, and I never had that before. I’m over 7 weeks in and can move my eyebrows a bit now. I’m just so scared I’ll end up stuck with this bag 😩

Stephholder · 27/09/2019 03:29

I just has this treatment 2 weeks ago. I got it at the Spa on our cruise ship. Ok, so looking back that wasn't the smartest move. Once we were off the ship I had no one to call or ask about what was happening. I got my first injections and felt like a new woman !!!! Then 2 days later I went back for a check up and she refilled a few places and now I can't move my forehead or eyebrows at all and both eyes are drooping. I wish I hadn't went back for the checkup. I sent pics to my family after the first one and looked great and then showed up home looking like my eyes are about closed. I look like I'm about to fall asleep. So unhappy. So ready for it to wear off enough I can move my eyebrows again.

Seedling111 · 27/09/2019 08:49

Am I the only one who likes hooded eyes? I don't have them but I think they look soulful and sexy!

EnidButton · 27/09/2019 15:13

On behalf of everyone reading this who has naturally hooded or deep set eyes; Thank you Seedling Grin

flylikeaneagle · 28/10/2019 08:56

Hi there, I stumbled upon this page while searching. I wondered if this ever got better for you and if so, how long it took to wear off? X

BadBotox · 12/11/2019 17:08

Hi guys! Also wondering how long it took for everyones bad Botox to wear off? I’m two weeks in and it feels like eternity. @flylikeaneagle @wittygritty Thanks in advance xxx

ParkerT · 13/11/2019 20:40

I had mine done 17 weeks ago. My eyebrows have improved slightly but nothing major. I’ve got a feeling they’re not going to return to their normal position! I also got a bags still and cheeks dropped!

NightsOfCabiria · 14/11/2019 06:50

This happened to me a few years ago. It took about 3 months before i started to kook normal iirc.

Ask for baby Botox next time.

BadBotox · 14/11/2019 14:03

Thank you!!

NightsOfCabiria · 14/11/2019 14:46

@BadBotox definitely go back as they may be able to inject another muscle to lift things. Failing that, just get your face as mobile as possible (gurning!) so the muscles get used to being moved sooner.
