Specifically this one:

I’ve been lusting after a jumpsuit for a while, and have trawled the internet looking for one I like, I have no chance to be able to get out to the shops without 3yo ds in tow, but I wanted something different to wear to a rate date night with dh next weekend.

So what do you think? Or can you point me in the direction of an alternative? And how would you accessorise?

Thank you!

Yes. It will elongate you. One block colour and the shape is good for curves. I would hesitate if you were very pear shaped.

HeyMacWey · 22/02/2018 09:13

I was about to say no unless you are tall, but that style looks very flattering.
Go for it and have a lovely night out!

0ccamsRazor · 22/02/2018 09:16

Would a 'fit and flare' style blazer work? One that is nipped in at the waist to give shape? Or maybe a silk chiffon shirt knotted at the front?

Nice strappy heels and a bag to match?

Lovely jumpsuit btw.

I tried one on in Phase Eight a couple of weeks ago in a slight fit of imminent black tie event panic. I’m 5’3”, size 16 with boobs and a tummy. It looked absolutely bloody fantastic! I was amazed, but in a good way! I am going to have to wear mega heels and remember to give myself plenty of notice to go for a pee, but otherwise, i’m thinking of rebuilding my entire wardrobe around the jumpsuit!

Eminybob · 22/02/2018 09:18

Im quite short (5’4)

I have practically no hips, I’m all boobs and tummy. I’m drawn to the plus size ranges as it’s easier to envisage myself in the clothes, but even then the models are all hourglass so I still can’t get a real idea of what I’ll look like.

I normally hate jumpsuits (in fairness I think they look equally awful whether you’re a size 6 or 16 so it’s not a size-ist loathing) but I actually really like that. Looks super flattering and I’m now off to search if they have a version in my size ahead my BNO (big night out) on Friday! You have converted me.

I’d wear with heels, a jazzy necklace and a cropped jacket. Leather for bonus edgy points.

Eminybob · 22/02/2018 09:19

Ooh rat that sounds promising - can you post a link?

I think it depends on if you have any lumps and bumps and where they are. I am 5ft 6in and a 14 and every time I have tried on a jumpsuit it really excentuates my tummy and bum and makes me look very round and bottom heavy. I think you need a fairly flat tummy tbh.

devilinme · 22/02/2018 09:23

I have a clothes shop and have sold that jumpsuit before. It's amazingly flattering even if you are curvy, just your tummy area needs to be smooth.

Sold loads of them

Oddbutnotodd · 22/02/2018 09:23

I think an apple would be fine in a jumpsuit. I agree that unless you are fairly slim pear or tall it accentuates your worst bits. It’s all about proportion. Just try on a few.

Eminybob · 22/02/2018 09:25

MrsFuzzy ASOS often do the same clothes in standard, plus, tall and petite ranges so you may well find it in your size.

Oh I definitely don’t have a smooth of flat tummy.
I have Spanx though....

I think jumpsuits are great and can be very flattering however you do need to make sure your underwear right to avoid lines and lumps!!

morningsex · 22/02/2018 09:29

My only concern is the tapered leg but as you are shorter you can probably pull in off

Eminybob · 22/02/2018 09:44

What do you think of this jacket to go with it?

Here you go, whole page of ‘em. Mine is the Loulou

Paintbox · 22/02/2018 10:32

MY friend who is an apple shape always says she can’t wear a jumpsuit but becayse of having no waist. I don’t know if that’s true or not

Belindabelle · 22/02/2018 11:29

As a size 16/18 apple I was going to say no way but that looks really good and I may just order it myself. I would love it in navy or khaki.

SheffEeled · 22/02/2018 12:33

Sorry to disagree, but as a size 8, I think jumpsuits look crap on me - put at least two stone on!

Maybe that one would work for you if the waist is in EXACTLY the right place, but if not, it is likely to just emphasize your rounded bits, sorry.

sourpatchkid · 22/02/2018 15:25

I agree - phase 8 jumpsuits are lovely but really expensive. I look great in mine (size 20)

I'm not sure about the ASOS one, I think it'll emphasis the tummy

beansbananas · 22/02/2018 15:40

My experience of jump suits no matter what your size, is that they are very unflattering on the bum. Also whilst us women love them, all the men I know, think they are really unsexy! That being said, the one you've shown does look like a good shape.

KateDuRhone · 22/02/2018 15:47

Absolutely. The V at the neck will make this super flattering.

devilinme · 22/02/2018 17:07

Spanx will do it

CrockedPot · 22/02/2018 20:42

Hell yeah! Would look great - very flattering shape.
