My DD wears a size xs or 4/6 and 00 jeans. Guess what size bra M&S suggested for her?

Katz, whilst non wired are recommended, if you can't find one to fit wires are fine for teens. Just make you keep an eye on them and replace the bras as soon as the wire is no longer comfortably resting on the rib cage.

The main difference with fitting teens is instead of looking for a bra that fits on the loosest hook (to allow for stretching) you should find one that fits on the tightest so that it can be let out and your DD will get more wear out of it.

Katz · 21/02/2018 17:31

Thanks Alanna - I think we gave up with non wired for DD1 but she grew fast and big quite quickly. DD2 is happy with her sports bras so that buys some time for now and we’ll have another shopping trip soon.

Oh and apparently I am a 40c. I’m actually a 36G Hmm

EnidButton · 21/02/2018 19:18

Bravissimo, Debenhams, figleaves and BraStop stock 28 backs.

I remember going into a La Senza years ago and asking for a 28FF. The woman looked puzzled and said I'd never get that odd size on the high steeet, only from a specialist place. 🙄😁 As if! It's a totally normal common size.

ChoudeBruxelles · 21/02/2018 19:23

Measured recently at M&S as a 40dd. Went to bravissimo and came out a 36ff. M&S are shite at fitting

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 21/02/2018 19:24

You need bralettes.

Great support for bigger boobs, but no wires.

Here's the bravissimo link. (I've just bought a Harper bralette and I love it)

Boux Avenue shops and VS online do 30 chest with bigger cup sizes. DS gets 30E from boux Avenue
I must say that this sounds different from my experience of them trying to give me 32 chest but I hate tight bras and much more comfortable in a 34 36 so I've given up asking for any advice

SorenLorensonsInvisibleFriend · 21/02/2018 19:27

I love bravissimo. That was a life changing experience when I first went there after years of badly fitting m&s-style specials!

They definitely do 28D, and are so good with sizing and advising on different styles and fits.

PaperdollCartoon · 21/02/2018 19:29

Why are people still doing the ‘add 4 inches’ bollocks? Where does this even come from? A time when brassieres didn’t have elastic? It’s mental.

Rigby and Peller a good choice for small back/not huge cups.

FreeNiki · 21/02/2018 19:29

Freya have 28s in many cup sizes.

MikeUniformMike · 21/02/2018 19:32

M&S are usually quite good for tiny but busty sizes. It's just the not tiny but a bit busty sizes they seem to lack. I.e. they'll have 30 DD and E, 32 E, F, G but not 32D.
When I was at school, everybody was a 32A, 34B and the more rounded girls 36C, and shops seemed to stock only 34A - 38D. Bet we were all wearing the wrong bras.
Try Primark, Tesco, and TK max for smaller sizes that don't cost the earth, and keep an eye on clearance sections in M&S.

Cmlcml · 21/02/2018 19:32

Google 'Boob or bust' and you can accurately measure yourself. I'd been wearing the wrong size all my life 😱

PaperdollCartoon · 21/02/2018 19:59

booborbust.com Voila! Use the calculator.

DianaT1969 · 21/02/2018 20:27

I wouldn't bother with Victoria's Secret for fuller bust. US savvy shoppers buy from here. Go straight to Freya, Panache, Pour Moi, Fantasie, Lepel... The UK has the best choice in fuller bust bras in the world. Poland make great ones too, but harder to get hold of.
Try Bra Stop or Belle Lingerie for discounted bras once you know your size.

Tiddlywinks63 · 21/02/2018 21:37

M&S told me I was 36G; 18 brasand an hour later the fitter admitted that none of the M&S bras actually fitted me properly.
Went to Bravissimo, 38F and very happy!

goose1964 · 21/02/2018 22:40

I just tried Google bus and came out at 40H, my 38D fits me perfectly and my 38DD are to big in the cup

AllPizzasGreatAndSmall · 21/02/2018 22:44

The UK has the best choice in fuller bust bras in the world.

The thing is a 28 or 30DD are not 'fuller busts'. I should wear 28E or 30DD, but buy a 32D because I don't want or need thick straps or back band. Why do manufacturers continue to make all bras for DD+ as if they are for people with massive boobs, when those of us with smaller back sizes actually have quite small boobs. If they can make a dainty bra for 36C then why do they think a 30DD needs more structure?

Butterymuffin · 21/02/2018 22:48

Someone needs to send a link to this thread to M&S management.

MipMipMip · 21/02/2018 23:02

Try brastop. Its a lifesaver for me!

KatharinaRosalie · 22/02/2018 06:58

OP, check Ebay, they currently have 900 bras in 28D. And not all of them are massive armoured boulder-holders. Many ebay sellers also offer returns.

Many people have sent similar threads and general complaints to M&S. Answer is inevitably 'go away silly woman, we are the experts. Any issues you had were an isolated incident'

PaperdollCartoon · 22/02/2018 08:21

@goose1964 have you tried the bra or bust calculator or been to Bravissimo? 38D and DD have totally different volumes, just because DD seems too big doesn’t mean 38D is right either.

McDougalMcPhee · 22/02/2018 08:49

i did booborbust, but it didnt work for me, i went to an independent shop to get measured, and that worked for me

now just have to order same size / brand / style and i'm sorted!

DownstairsMixUp · 22/02/2018 08:56

They are shit! Baring in mind I'm at my biggest I've ever been now, 5'5 and 11 stone I'm still not in a 34 band. they put me in a 34 band when I was 9 stone! It was literally sliding all over the place!

SheldonandPenny · 22/02/2018 08:59

Another yay for Bravissimo. Gave up years ago on M and S who just kept trying to up the back size ridiculously. I walked when a 38 was mentioned as they didn't offer a bigger cup size in a 36. Bravissimo said I was a 32GG!!!

TimeIhadaNameChange · 22/02/2018 09:03

Do M&S bras have their own sizing?

I measured myself the other day: 29.5 inches underneath, and 36 (I think) with my boobs dangling. I ordered a 30D and a 30DD to try on at home. There's about a 4 inch gap when I try to do them up! Will send them back but am wondering if I should try again with a 34 B or just give up and wait until I can get to a shop.
