Denim dresses

I am looking for a denim dress that is comfortable, i.e. soft, not rigid, kind of smart looking, so dark denim, and doesn't look like a sack of potatoes. What are my chances?Grin

Toast might be a good place to look.

ohbitchplease · 14/02/2018 14:51

I have a lovely one from H&M. It's not dark denim though.

hecallsmebunny · 14/02/2018 14:54

This! I love it. I wouldn't describe it as rigid but not sure how soft you are looking for as real denim is always going to have a bit of structure? Anyway, looks quite smart and have had lots of compliments. Also dress it up or down depending what you wear inside

IWillSurviveHeyHey · 14/02/2018 14:59

Thanks. Toast ones are too amish for me. Nothing suitable in h&m either...

Whistles sometimes do nice denim shirt dresses, also Warehouse had a nice one in the window when i passed last week.

MikeUniformMike · 14/02/2018 15:43

I haven't fancied much from Toast for a while but they do have denim dresses. They are one of those companies that send daily e-mails, which I find offputting.
Uniqlo might be worth a try.

MikeUniformMike · 14/02/2018 15:49

just had a look at uniqlo. ines de la fressange collection due tomorrow.
Didn't see any denim dresses.

twoplytwoply · 14/02/2018 16:02

Seasalt a nice one on the front of their catalogue

starsinyourpies · 14/02/2018 16:09

Sorry to go middle aged but Boden is quite good for this sort of thing:

Nope, not finding what I need. Well, when I say need...

How about this from Gap? Although it’s not dark.

CountFosco · 14/02/2018 17:46

Beyond dark denim what style are you wanting? A shirt dress or pinafore or sheath?
I'd assume you'd have a reasonable choice in GAP. Or what about ASOS. I now want a black denim pinafore mini.

inajam · 14/02/2018 17:49

Or this LaRedoute one?

IWillSurviveHeyHey · 14/02/2018 18:05

Definitely not a pinafore, no offence to anyone but I am 48 years old, I will not be wearing a pinafore ever again until the day I die.

I quite like this one www.shoptiques.com/products/soyaconcept-denim-blue-dress

but I am petite size 10 and I feel to make it fit round my bum/hips, it will end up too loose/gathered at the back.

Shame GAP don't do darker ones as they do petite sizes...

OP posts:
MikeUniformMike · 14/02/2018 18:08

At what age does a pinafore become unsuitable?

WellTidy · 14/02/2018 18:14

The daphne denim dress in phase eight is in the sale, and available online in a 10. I am petite too, and I can sometimes buy in the regular range in phase eight.

WellTidy · 14/02/2018 18:15

Or the phase eight Demi denim dress in a small? Down to £25.

IWillSurviveHeyHey · 14/02/2018 18:20

I don't know mike I guess they are timeless for the right person; I know that being a 5ft2" 48 year old woman, a pinafore would look utterly ridiculous on me.

That could be the one WellTidy!! It doesn't look very soft but still... Thanks!!

MikeUniformMike · 14/02/2018 18:29

I probably look ridiculous in most of my clothes. I like the toast one but it's £££ and would probably be too long for me. I would look at high-end high street shops.

HolyShet · 14/02/2018 18:35

This one? whistles

MikeUniformMike · 14/02/2018 18:38

I prefer the Phase Eight Daphne dress but think I'd look like a sack of spuds in it.

IWillSurviveHeyHey · 14/02/2018 18:45

It will potentially on me too Mike but I feel it's worth a go. I can get it from John Lewis, free delivery and free returns, so nothing to lose really.

OP posts:
IWillSurviveHeyHey · 14/02/2018 18:48

That's gorgeous Holy, really gorgeous. I don't think I'll be paying that though...

Have desperately been trying to get my hands on this in a size 10

Monsoon denim dress

But need a size 10. I 😍 it!

PNGirl · 14/02/2018 21:05

I quite like this, if you ignore the daft pose and beret.
