Im disgusted that i have to write this. And ill be posting a link to a petition to boycott primark for selling baby and children Jean shorts, that are sexually exploiting our little ones. I wouldn't even wear shorts that short. Its vulgar and just gives predators a chance to fulfil their disgusting desires. I want primark to remove these products and re-design their them.

Reading your OP, you also need to look up what "sexual exploitation" means. A pair of shorts cannot sexually exploit anyone

upsideup · 13/02/2018 16:25

Am i legit the only one that sees something wrong with these? Or do all of you also agree with small children wearing bikinis?

You are not the only one as the multiple artciles show but I really dont understand the upset. I think they are just shorts, I would put my dd's in them but then I have also put my dd's in bikini's.

OuchBollocks · 13/02/2018 16:28

I wouldn't put my DD in them, only because she would have no skin left on her knees by the end of the day. Summer is pedal pushers season for her. In fact I think she had something similar with some thick colourful tights for autumn wear at one point. It was quite cute.

Atticusss · 13/02/2018 16:30

Eh? Denim on really small babies isn't for me, but lots of people do put jeans on their newborns. Other than that I don't see the problem, hardly news worthy. Mine all wear short denim shorts over tights (boys and girls) in winter.

BroccoliOnTheFloor · 13/02/2018 16:30

There is a lot of clothes out there that I think is inappropriate for kids, especially girls. Thinking of Tshirts that say "sexy", "pretty little thing" etc. But these are shorts. When it's warm, people wear shorts. What on earth is wrong with this?

I'm also not sure I undestand the bikini comment. What do you wear on a beach?

ScreamingValenta · 13/02/2018 16:33

Metro must have been having a slow news day.

LondonHereICome · 13/02/2018 16:35

Op, in the gentlest possible way, you perhaps need to have a little word with yourself and how you view babies and clothing!

DotCottonDotCom · 13/02/2018 16:36

They are shorts. Teeny tiny shorts for 0-3 months.
They are no different to summer bodysuits?

OuchBollocks · 13/02/2018 16:38

I don't get denim shorts anyway. If its hot enough for shorts surely its too hot for denim?

LondonHereICome · 13/02/2018 16:40

I cant imagine it ever being hot enough to wear shorts ever ever again!!Grin

Dobbythesockelf · 13/02/2018 16:42

My dd used to wear those little short playsuit things when she was a baby which were just as short. Is it cause they are denim? I mean I don't like jeans etc on babies but it's nothing to do with sexualising more to do with faff and comfort. Also Primark has released a statement saying that this batch had been turned up twice instead of once during manufacture so they are not even normally that short. I don't get the bikini thing again my dd used to play outside in her paddling pool in just a nappy sometimes, and as a toddler she has taken her pants off and run round in her knickers many times, she's a child ffs.

OuchBollocks · 13/02/2018 16:44

LondonHereICome me either :(

bluecashmere · 13/02/2018 16:47

OP are they worse than a baby wearing a dress in summer, where legs and knickers are fully exposed?

Redwineistasty · 13/02/2018 16:49

Not my taste as I’m not a fan of exposing dc’s delicate thighs and shoulder to the sun. Or in general as the fall over lots so like them to have longer shorts and t shirts.
But I think they’re unsuitable for totally different reasons to you op and I think you’re deluded.

I found these in Mothercare.... they’ve been around for years and years and yet no one has ever sexualised them Confused

OP perhaps you need to shop at naice shops

Steeley113 · 13/02/2018 16:52

Are you professionally offended OP? Have you not seen little girls in little shorts and tights before? What about little summer dresses? Are they sexualised too?

AngelsWithSilverWings · 13/02/2018 16:53

Not a style I’d have ever chosen as I’m not overly keen on denim for babies as it’s not the softest fabric. But surely they would be worn over tights or leggings? Also not much different to the little short dungarees my DD wore when she was tiny. They would look fine over woollen tights and worn with a nice smock type top. Can’t really see the problem.

WitchesHatRim · 13/02/2018 16:57

So dont buy them OP.

They are shorts.

AutumnGlitterBall · 13/02/2018 16:59

I actually have these shorts - not in new baby size, granted - but the 6-9 month size. I rolled the hems down and I think they looked absolutely fine on my child.

EmmaJR1 · 13/02/2018 17:01

During the warm weather last summer my son was often just in a nappy... was I sexualising him then? 🙄

OuchBollocks · 13/02/2018 17:04

Yep, I might as well have found DD a strip club to work in Hmm

They are ADORABLE!! And look so cute on the two little ones posted here! Clothes aren't inherently sexual, except maybe agent provocoteur etc but AFAIK they don't do a kids line. I have many happy memories of running around completely starkers with my siblings and cousins as a kid, some teeny shorts has to be better than that, right?

Unihorn · 13/02/2018 17:11

My daughter wears shorts with tights all through winter, never thought about it.

MrsJayy · 13/02/2018 17:15

Bikinis are not sexual either it is a swimsuit granted babies don't need to cover up but that is more of a gender thing than a sexualised thing

demirose87 · 13/02/2018 17:17

They're shorts for gods sake. Get a grip OP. what about baby romper suits that don't show any leg, do you have a problem with them?
