What can I wear to get married in?

I'm getting married in May in New York. Just me and dp so very low key. Temperature 16 to 21 degrees.
I never wear dresses or skirts as a rule but like a shift type simple dress. I hate ruffles and fussy.
I'm six feet tall, size 14, very long legs and size 9 narrow feet. So a bit of a bugger to shop forGrin. Oh and late 50s.
I generally live in jeans and cigarette trousers.
No budget.
It might be a bit early to shop yet but if you have any ideas I'd be very grateful!
I can get to London if necessary.

I’d also say jumpsuit! An older colleague of mine wears them at events quite often and looks amazing, very chic.

No budget? No budget??

This is already my favourite thread of the year ...

My problem with jumpsuits is body/leg length. Inside leg 34 inches. I'd love to wear one! Or a trouser suit....not planning to wear white.
Love that one Tee Bee.
I'm looking at Long Tall Sally for jumpsuit options but nothing on the website yet.

Congratulations!! A wedding in NY how fabulous. With your love of trousers and amazing long legs how about a white suit like Bianca Jagger wore on her wedding day?

I don't know how to link urls but you can check it out.

Have a wonderful time Flowers Flowers Flowers

A cream suit would be totally glam!

Mulberrysilk · 28/01/2018 14:41

It's probably too early in the season to find a great selection but I think something like this would be fabulous.

I like the Torres trousers!!
Maybe wide trousers and A top...no mask though!
I'd be happy in Levis and superga but dp is planning to wear a casual suit

No colour restrictions, no colour restrictions... amazing!

Max Mara have some naive trousers. A large size should do you (they have some in xl which they say is 18)

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 28/01/2018 14:52

I don't understand the love of jumpsuits. They're incredibly hard to get a right fitting on the body and leg and even the best arses in the world look awful in them. Either flat or worse some sort of wedgie going on.

If you like simple shift dresses, why not go for that? You could blow the budget (if there is one?) on some great shoes, jewellery and hairdo.

How about this

Nice shape but a bit "bridally".
I don't really want to look as if I'm getting married Smile
There won't be flowers or anything going on with my hair.

You could go and see Hannah at House of Ollichon - I’ve worked with them in the past and they’re so lovely. Bridal separates and jumpsuits (and could be made to measure)

I like this style and length. Not necessarily lacey

I got married in NY in the Spring. It was amazing. You'll have so much fun. Good luck!

Jaimx86 · 28/01/2018 15:26

Where are you getting married? At the City Hall?

HRTpatch · 28/01/2018 15:28

No idea yet

Have a look at Alex Eagle's website. (Catherine Quin in particular, which might be easier to get hold of in NY.)

Jaimx86 · 28/01/2018 15:38

It's so straight forward - DH and I were in and out of there in 30minutes, and anything goes clothing wise.
Some women wore full bridal gowns, whilst other couples wore jeans and t-shirts. The atmosphere inside is amazing!
I went somewhere in the middle with a dress from Anthroplogie and bought a bouquet from the flower man outside City Hall.

I googled lots of images of NYC weddings, and there are some good ideas on Pintrest www.pinterest.co.uk/search/pins/?q=city-hall-wedding%20NYC
