I always wear suede ankle boots with tights but went for something a bit more hardy this time and they are taking some getting used to.

Do they look ok?

No...I don't think they work with tights OP.

I hope you don't mind honesty...your ankles look a little "lost" in them and they're a TINY bit "witchy" as a result.

They're not terrible or anything but would look nicer with jeans or trousers.

BitOutOfPractice · 18/01/2018 13:43

Sorry OP I don't think they work either

Loyly · 18/01/2018 13:46

Sorry, I don't think they look right.

megansmandstop · 18/01/2018 13:50

You have the same problem as me, slim lower calves and ankles. Almost all ankle and knee high boots look like that on me, which i'm afraid I agree with PPs is not a good look. I've just spent a fortune on some boots from R&B because they finally fit close enough to my leg not to look stupid with skirts!

You could try a thicker sock up to the level of the boot or ever so slightly over to fill in the gap, although this does change the overall look to more casual. Also, it looks like you're wearing something quite pouffy and voluminous on your bottom half. A straight slim skirt and coat the same length as the skirt might also help. Too many lines for the eye going on if that makes sense?!

TeeBee · 18/01/2018 13:50

I think they look a bit clumpy with a skirt.

Kitsharrington · 18/01/2018 14:11

I think they look fine. If anything it's the slightly dowdy length of your skirt IMO that is throwing the look off. I think ankle boots look best with either middy length dresses or above the knee length.

crackerjacket · 18/01/2018 14:23

Nope.

battenbergbutterfly · 18/01/2018 14:36

They look too big around the ankle and your feet look a bit lost.

Bluntness100 · 18/01/2018 14:38

No sorry, side on they look bad.

JesusTapdancingChrist · 18/01/2018 14:41

From the side they do look a wee bit....

'Marthame tapped her broomstick and whoosh she was gone'.

Sorry OP 🙁.

EggsonHeads · 18/01/2018 14:42

Those aren't designed for tights.

MammaAgata · 18/01/2018 14:47

Sorry OP I don’t think they work either, you need something more elegant, they’re just too clumpy with tights, the toe is too round and the heel too thick with tights/skirt. I think you need flat biker style boots or same height suede elegant boots. Wear those boots with jeans/trousers.

Marthame · 18/01/2018 14:48

This is what I thought! Oh crap Confused

Megan have you got a photo of your boots please? I need help!!

GrooovyLass · 18/01/2018 14:53

Well I like them! But then I tend to wear biker boots or dms with leggings or tights so what do I know...

MammaAgata · 18/01/2018 19:04

I think phase 8 Jane or Jenny style (both black suede ankle boot) is what I have in mind, or M&S do a flat biker style ankle boot. Might not be to your taste at all, I’m only going by my style (but I’m an old bird!)

Kaykee · 18/01/2018 20:17

Not with a skirt no. Nice enough boots but better with jeans or trousers perhaps?.., you have lovely slim legs so I’m envious I’m sure they will wear in fine

Mayhemmumma · 18/01/2018 20:18

Be better with a slim fitting skirt

MrsNacho · 18/01/2018 20:23

I think they would be better with skinny jeans.

The tights would look better with something v shaped at the top/front.

FuckyDucky · 18/01/2018 20:42

It’s very ‘Mary Poppins’
They would look better with skinny jeans.

Marthame · 18/01/2018 20:51

I agree I need to go back to suede. I also need a little heel and not completely flat as I'm a shortie.

I'm going to try these with skinny's tomorrow in the hope I look less like Mary poppins Grin

MammaAgata · 18/01/2018 21:23

The phase 8 Jane has 6cm heel, but elegant.. there’s so many different styles out there and I’ve still seen loads in the sale.

goose1964 · 18/01/2018 21:27

I have a similar pair, but mine have a low heel and the ankle isn't as big ( or you have sparrow ankles) I wear them with tunics and leggings. Yours will be fab with trousers

LemonysSnicket · 18/01/2018 21:41

I think they look cool ...the bigness on your ankles makes your legs look thin. Which I like.

Keepingupwiththejonesys · 18/01/2018 21:44

I like the boots with the tights, the skirt doesn't look right with them though. I'd wear something a bit tighter fit, I almost always wear boots similar to them with tights/leggings and a bodycon style dress that's either just above the knee or a fair bit over
