Has anyone had a Hollywood wax?

How humiliating was the experience?

Did you like it?

I'm getting my regular bikini wax tomorrow and my salon is offering a free HW for the price of of a regular wax. I'm terribly curious.

Go for it!
I’m a beauty therapist and we’ve seen it all before.

MuseumOfCurry · 17/01/2018 22:10

But... will I like it?

I suppose I have to take my underwear off entirely.... but I suppose you don't really care?

Not humiliating at all! No different to me than having a smear, they've seen it all before!

AtSea1979 · 17/01/2018 22:13

You can just pull your underwear to one side, then the other. You will have to get in awkward positions though!

MrsFoxPlus4 · 17/01/2018 22:14

Beauty therapist here! We’ve seen all different types of lady bits! Nothing to be embarrassed about go for it!

insertimaginativeusername · 17/01/2018 22:16

I've never had a Hollywood with underwear on. It's too awkward to get up your bum Blush

Lentilbaby · 17/01/2018 22:16

Not so much humiliating more bloody painful!

MuseumOfCurry · 17/01/2018 22:20

Oh god does the Hollywood involve the bum?

Can I skip that part?

I used to get regular Brazilians/Hollywoods. It's fine if the beauty therapist is good, and most are! It feels lovely and clean afterwards.

Then DC happened, and now I'm a hairy, scruffy mess.

ObiJuanKenobi · 17/01/2018 22:27

I've always been curious about this but never brave enough! Do they get the little annoying hairs on the inside that are super awkward to shave?

FrankiesKnuckle · 17/01/2018 22:32

They get everything...
In the days BC (before child) when I had the money and time I'd go for a HW every 4/6 weeks.
My lovely lady used to tell me to flip over and exclaim 'now for the glamorous bit'! Yes, she did Everywhere....

ObiJuanKenobi · 17/01/2018 22:36

Ooooooo I'm so tempted by this I've not given her much attention since having my dtwins almost 2 years ago Blush

insertimaginativeusername · 17/01/2018 22:45

Noooo museum embrace it! Grin

Yes they do, but it's fine honestly. Actually I find it's the least painful area.

Some beauticians will ask you to flip over, some will do it while you're still on your back with some leg positioning.

Mcakes · 17/01/2018 22:45

Go for it I reckon! If you don't like it, it will grow back within a couple of months so nothing to lose and at least you will have tried it once in your life. I used to think it was completely stupid and pointless but am a complete convert now. Feels great.

I have always found the therapists put you at your ease and it is only embarrassing if you chose to feel that way.

If they are good then yes they do remove every single hair.

Top tips: Exfoliate exfoliate exfoliate before and after (those scrubby gloves are good). I exfoliate every time I shower and never have itchiness or ingrown hairs.
Sudocreme is your friend if you have any redness a day or two after the wax.

Oh and it was nowhere near as painful as I feared the first time. You can take ibuprofen beforehand if you like.

Titsywoo · 17/01/2018 22:48

Why would you skip the bum?! That's the most important bit! But then I am quite hairy Blush. I don't find it embarrassing. They do it all the time. Much easier to not wear underwear to be honest.

Titsywoo · 17/01/2018 22:50

Oh and I don't find it particularly painful and I never get itching or ingrown hairs. I only get those when I shave.

Mcakes · 17/01/2018 22:52

Just reread my message and thought I'd better clarify.
Don't exfoliate immediately afterwards. Ouch!

Let everything calm down a bit first. I normally start gentle exfoliation after a day or two.

HandMsMonkey · 17/01/2018 22:52

I love the smooth feeling afterwards but the growing back is a killer particularly if you have curly hair. Lots of ingrowns :(

BuzzKillington · 17/01/2018 23:03

I have them regularly.

No underwear, but not remotely embarrassing.

Don't skip the bum, even if you think you have no hair there (as I did!).

I never have any issue with itchy regrowth or ingrowns, despite thick curly hair.

Itsthattimeagain · 17/01/2018 23:14

My beauty therapist asks if I want my bum doing, she doesn't just do it automatically, so I assume you can skip it OP, maybe if you go back again and fancy it you could try another time

HildaZelda · 17/01/2018 23:17

I've had it done a few times. It stings/smarts a bit but not too bad. I still find underarms the most painful area to get waxed.

AnnaT45 · 17/01/2018 23:29

They are amazing! I feel so clean after one. I used to go every four weeks. I know have two little kids and work FT. I only make time when I go away now.

Go for it. It's not embarrassing in slightest!

madmomma · 18/01/2018 00:57

They are fabulous but painful at first. Sexual sensitivity is increased when all the hair is gone - which is awesome - your reward for the pain! I keep meaning to start having mine done again.

CrashBangWollop · 18/01/2018 07:18

I get one every 3-4 weeks, me and the therapist crack about the weather, what she got for Xmas, where we're going on holiday etc all while I'm lying in a precarious position?!

They've seen it all before and talking will make you feel less awkward Smile

MuseumOfCurry · 18/01/2018 07:20

OK, well I'm doing it. Thanks to everyone for your guidance. I'll post pictures later. Wink
