Recommend me an indestructible cross body bag...

Any ideas on the most durable crossbody bag that I can buy and forget about? I'd like it to last me at least 10 years of daily use or more before looking wrecked.....Big enough to fit wallet, keys, phone, paperback and a few assorted bits and bobs.
Am hoping this isn't a pipe dream! Thanks

My yellow tote has no writing.

hugoagogo · 22/01/2018 21:19

Crumpler make camera bags, but you wouldn't know to look at most of them and they last seemingly forever.

travailtotravel · 22/01/2018 21:20

If nylon appeals the longchamp range is good. I've had years out of mine and it now needs replacing.

Harryet88 · 25/01/2018 08:33

@100Years is it more on the bright side, or more mustard?

100YearsOfVote · 25/01/2018 13:05

Leaning towards Coleman's. The pic on the website is a good indication of colour

Harryet88 · 26/01/2018 12:53

Perfect! Thank you! Halo

Alittleconcerned1980 · 26/01/2018 12:54

Go with the radley

Mine looks as good as new despite few years old

Alittleconcerned1980 · 26/01/2018 12:55

Love the pictures one but SO small!!

Mulberrysilk · 26/01/2018 13:17

You're asking too much of one bag.

bigtissue · 27/01/2018 09:42

You're asking too much of one bag.

Spot on Mulberry. Perhaps there's a scientific term for that like The Human-Handbag Insufficiency or The Late for Date Mass-try-on.

redmarkone · 27/01/2018 10:42

i was going to suggest the antony mulberry too. excellent size, quality/not screaming designer, timeless and versatile.

Harryet88 · 29/01/2018 09:25

Haha Grin One can never ask too much of anything Cake

Daisy03 · 29/01/2018 09:27

I’ve had the mulberry Anthony for about 12 years, just looks better with age, if I think about it on a cost per wear basis it’s one of the best things I’ve ever bought

Daisy03 · 29/01/2018 09:30

It can be worth a visit to one of the mulberry outlets or even giving the one in Bicester a call, if they have any in stock they’ll post them out to you which I’ve done in the past, they’re lovely. Purseforum oftrn has lists of what they have in store

MrsJayy · 29/01/2018 09:30

My kipling bag has lasted years i have 2, my crossbody bag is 9 years old not a break in it and you can bung it in the washing machine

Ironfloor · 29/01/2018 09:33

I bought a very durable, hardy, leather cross body bag from TK Maxx for £24. It’s a brand called Matt & Nat. Not heard of it before but love the bag. Will try to upload a photo if I can.

thepatchworkcat · 29/01/2018 09:36

Another one here loving those Elvis and Kresse bags, never heard of them either, think I’ll be getting one this year!

Harryet88 · 29/01/2018 09:57

I used to like Matt & Nat, but have gone off it as a company. Have to agree a lot with this article I read about them recently mygreencloset.com/2017/no-longer-buy-matt-nat/

If their transparency doesn't improve I don't see myself going back to it anytime soon.

timeforachangeithink · 29/01/2018 10:10

Coach scout hobo is lovely and a total bargain in the sale.

Harryet88 · 31/01/2018 19:04

What did you end up going for @Multicolouredfish ? :)

barefoofdoctor · 31/01/2018 20:28

My Radley Grosvenor is indestructible (comes in 3 sizes I have the large one). Beautiful leather and very hard wearing. Had the latest one on the go over a year of daily use and it's still immaculate which is a bit of a swine as I haven't needed to do any handbag shopping nor will I for the foreseeable. Worst bagever for quality was an Ospray messenger/saddlebags similar to the Grosvenor and the quality was abysmal. Strap disintegrated within months and the bag looked knackered and yuck way to soon.

Pandabear2018 · 31/01/2018 20:51

I went for an Elvis n Kresse post bag in the end with an additional cross body strap. (I name changed last week before lots more people posted on my thread). It was a close call though, as there were so many fab suggestions. Thanks guys!
HolgerDanske, thanks for pointing that out about the review. I can see how mumsnet exposure would be tempting to harness.
Anyway, bag looks great, but it's only had a week of use. I can report back in 10 years on if it's been as indestructible as I'm hoping it may be....

Harryet88 · 31/01/2018 21:37

@barefoofdoctor sorry to hear about the Ospray :( I've heard other stories similar, but I think i've heard enough now to not want to go near them no matter how tempting their current sales might be. Thanks for the input!

Harryet88 · 31/01/2018 21:41

@Pandabear2018 so happy you settled on something. I know I can definitely suffer from "too much choice syndrome". Haha, set a reminder in :D Which colour was it? Any pictures you can grace us with? I didn't know they did straps for the post bag as well.
