Recommend me an indestructible cross body bag...

Any ideas on the most durable crossbody bag that I can buy and forget about? I'd like it to last me at least 10 years of daily use or more before looking wrecked.....Big enough to fit wallet, keys, phone, paperback and a few assorted bits and bobs.
Am hoping this isn't a pipe dream! Thanks

Mmmm review person had a post about the bag deleted on the same day

Anyone else had a feel/use of these?

ChishandFips33 · 18/01/2018 05:19

Sorry for hijacking OP

I have Fossil bags - not as ethical as the E&K story but I've found them very hard wearing.

I abuse the ones I use for work and most of them were secondhand to begin with.

HolgerDanske · 18/01/2018 07:29

That person spammed a million threads supposedly sharing their love for those bags and that company. Obviously drumming up business.

Doesn’t mean the bags aren’t any good but just be aware that the review is likely not a genuine customer’s review.

So the firehouse material is like a thick solid but flexible leather I guess. It's rubber but not rubbery. It feels very nice. No one ever guesses what it is made from.

I'm pretty hard work on bags and after 5 months of abuse it pretty much looks like the day I opened the box.

I went for the yellow which I adore. I can see this bag being with me for years.

I also have a belt.

I would also like a Reporter bag at some point.

100YearsOfVote · 18/01/2018 09:25

It came in a recycled parachute "dust" bag which I use as my day to day bag for shopping (keeps easily in bag).

I can't believe someone else here knows Elvis & Kresse!!
I'm pretty sure I found out about them on MN a while back. I hankered for one for a couple of years before treating myself for my birthday.

Harryet88 · 18/01/2018 17:28

They finally got the reporter bag back in! Just saw a post on their facebook page :) www.elvisandkresse.com/products/reporter-bag

100YearsOfVote · 18/01/2018 17:32

I notice they say "repaired for life" which I hadn't clocked when I got my tote.

Kittykatmacbill · 18/01/2018 18:05

The Elvis and Kreese reporter bags are back in stock. I just ordered one, thanks to you lot!! I need a bag that will put up with a lot of grief (I work in construction, travelling between/around sites).
So excited!

Dontletthebastardsgrindyoudown · 19/01/2018 11:06

I've had a Guess cross body bag for about 6 years, use it all the time and it looks perfect.

Harryet88 · 19/01/2018 11:10

@Outedsochanged let us know what it is like when you get it? I can't afford another bag at the moment, but maybe I can ask for a little something for Valentines :D

Outedsochanged · 19/01/2018 11:26

Of course. I'm optimistic. Their customer service was good on ordering. They measured the drop on the strap for me and offered to send a photo of 6'2" person wearing it, so I could see where it 'fell'. (I'm rather tall and been caught out before!) It will take a few days to get here, but I'll be back!

I ordered it Friday morning and it's arrived Monday lunchtime. It's beautiful and looks really robust. As a 6 foot tall, broad woman, the length of the strap means the top of the bag is low on my hip at the longest length, but it is adjustable.

I really love it Outed!

Would it fit an A4 folder in it? I'm thinking perhaps not?

I didn't get any "writing" on my yellow tote

100YearsOfVote · 22/01/2018 16:27

now you can play "guess what my bag is made from" with people - I've had many conversations with all sorts re my bag :)

No one guesses correctly.

Outedsochanged · 22/01/2018 16:43

I've been playing guess what it's made of with the kids, feeling safe in promising them chocolate of they guessed, then one of them find it on the back of the zipper pull!! (I declared the game null and void).
It won't fit an A4 file. I've taken a couple more pictures with a ruler in, but bear in mind the zip is a couple of cm inside the bag.

...can you request no writing, do you think?
I fancy the yellow tote too but think I'd prefer no writing (as it would be a work bag)

ChishandFips33 · 22/01/2018 16:50

Gorgeous bag Outed
Thanks for posting pics

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 22/01/2018 16:57

Ragsto.com are fabulous, recycled materials including old leather, made by Neil Wragg. Pricey but if you’re looking for a bag to last a lifetime, that’s the place!

Outedsochanged · 22/01/2018 17:27

Chish, their website has an on line chat that I asked questions through, no harm in asking!

Harryet88 · 22/01/2018 18:47

@Outedsochanged thank you for sharing the pictures. Looks really great!

Harryet88 · 22/01/2018 18:51

@ChishandFips33 I'm sure you can. When I ordered my clutch I asked for a longer strap as I like to wear mine as a crossbody and they made one for me for free. Just asked for how long I wanted it and they added it to my order, along with the usual strap it comes with. Like Out said, you can always ask :)
