Small things that make a person look younger (sadly looking at celebs wondering how the hell they do it)?

I'm in my late 30's & have been shamelessly looking at celebs in their early 40's like Louise Redknapp who still have a youthful vibe & energy... Little things I notice about other fab stylish women older that me is that usually
they have long swishy, bouncy layered hair or a nice stylish bob
no noticeably grey hair
in very good shape
well fitting clothes, knows what suits them
subtle make up
Would love some more tips & I need to stop envying Louise Redknapp. I feel I look every one of my 38 years at present & look older than alot of women who are 10 years older than me! So please list what you think makes one look youthful & stylish. Thanks

Sorry, just noticed your post ProjectG. Facial yoga exercises are on YouTube if you search. Facerobics is good, there are lots of short videos for different areas of the face and neck. The woman in those videos is her own project and you see her changing from the older videos, when she first started using the techniques.
I try to remember to do a few in the morning, to keep my eye brows from sagging over my eyes (like animal from muppet show) Shock

Paxillin do you think anyone is mug enough to believe you? Although maybe if they are the type who say 'guess my age' maybe they are. Don't think I've ever asked anyone to guess my age, I've just had surprise when it's come up in conversation (and not so much these days unless the person saying it is so young they think 50 is almost on your deathbed).

I think that when people tell me I look younger than my age it's for one of two reasons:

  1. Because they think it's the polite thing to say or
  2. Because they have a fixed idea of what women my age should look like.

Either way I always smile and tell them 'thank you' because I realise it is kindly meant and because I'm not a total bellend. It doesn't stop me thinking they're talking horse shit.

Totally agree. I am 47 and get gasps when I tell people my age. I've been told I look late 20s/early 30s .
It's because I dress a certain way and I wear my hair a certain way; nothing way out, I dress as if I'm in my late 20s and that's why people think I am.
There is also genetics on my side; my mother and grandmothers look/ed) young for their ages. I have very few grey hairs (the ones I do have I can colour with a Nice and Easy colour enhancer that is close to my mid brown shade), I have okay eyebrows (I did overpluck them int he 1990s but stopped in time), I keep my hair trimmed so it looks thick and healthy. It is still quite long but not long enough to need extensions to stop it looking wispy. I do also exercise - but I do stuff like yoga and weight training, spinning, nothing too high impact.
Celebrities fake a lot of stuff - botox/extensions/liposuction. Mind you maybe I would if I had my photo taken all the time...

I know a celebrity on her 40s. As an illustration of how parrallel their universe is: she never washes her own hair. That is the regularity with which she goes to the hair salon.

Looking good is her full-time job: procedures done, excellent wardrobe, gym every day, very careful with what she eats, teeth whitening, everything you think of - done very tastefully.

DryHeave she must wash her hair after the gym every day though?
