Where to buy 28D bras

TheChineseChicken · 05/01/2018 19:31

So apparently I am a 28D... this doesn't appear to exist in any shop! I have bought a few bras online but it's so hit and miss and a massive pain. Does anyone know of anywhere to get this size bra, not too expensive? Thanks

Try on some in Bravissimo or Debenhams etc, write down the brand and style and come home and look them up on eBay. There are lots of ex catalogue stock in rarer sizes on eBay brand new (and often can be returned if they don’t fit). You can get some very good bargains.

TheChineseChicken · 05/01/2018 19:36

Ah interesting, thanks

Brastop are great for this sort of thing

TuckMyWin · 05/01/2018 19:43

Boux Avenue.

LondonSouth28 · 05/01/2018 19:47

Since having kids I have same shape. A brand that I find really good is Freya. They sell them in a lot of places (John Lewis etc) and they often come out cheap on Brand Alley. They also do good and supportive swimwear.

christinarossetti · 05/01/2018 19:48

That's my usual size. I second ebay; I know Freya bras are generally a good fit, so buy those.

GreyMorning · 05/01/2018 19:51

John Lewis do, I think Bravissimo do too, I'm a 28DD so very similar.

umberellaonesie · 05/01/2018 19:53

I am a 28 H and bravissimo is about the only place

Liz38 · 05/01/2018 19:58

Bravissimo! I'm a 30 FF and the only other place I can get a bra that fits and is comfy is Right and Peller. Post child and reduced income I can no longer afford R & P. Tbf Boux Avenue also fitted but the styling doesn't take larger boobs into account so although it fitted it was very uncomfortable.

Jedbartletforpresident · 05/01/2018 20:01

I second/third/whatever Bravissimo. I am a 28FF and that is the only physical store I can buy from. I do however often buy online - figleaves or Amazon mostly as returns are easy. I stick with the brands and styles I know generally work for me (Freya Deco and Cleo Panache) and take it from there.

rubybleu · 05/01/2018 20:04

Cleo bras are good in a 28 back. I’m a 28E.

TheChineseChicken · 05/01/2018 20:43

Thanks all! Sadly Bravissimo 28 back starts in a DD cup so I had no luck in there. And I've never seen that size in JL. I'll try the other suggestions.
It makes me laugh that I am a D cup but my boobs are like two sad fried eggs Grin

They quite often come up in TK Maxx I find!

Xennialish · 05/01/2018 20:51

There are loads in the Next sale I noticed, worth a try?

TooMinty · 05/01/2018 21:36

Boux Avenue - not too expensive

NotMeNoNo · 06/01/2018 08:13

Belle Lingerie are good gor discounted bras. The advantage of buying a brand like Freya is you can find a named style and then buy more of it anywhere/online. For example Freya Fancies, Fearne Muse, panache Tango. All come in 28d and different colours.

bananafish81 · 06/01/2018 10:05

I feel your frustration OP, as a 28D and member of the itty bitty titty committee

I'm quite picky, because not only do I have small boobs (28D is the same volume boobs as a 30C as a 32B as a 34A - whereas a 28D sounds like big boobs, the 34A sounds like small boobs - but they're the same amount of boobage, just with different back sizes!), but I have no volume at the top. So I find most Freya bras are a terrible fit because they tend to be half cup / balconette / full cup and often lacy - whereas I need a plunge with a moulded cup, because the fabric just flaps around at the top with nothing to fill it out

I just wanted some plain t shirt bras so in exasperation I got some 30 back because there were more styles available. I did manage to find a 28D plain plunge in Debenhams which I've worn to death and which I need to see about replacing

I also went for the seamless unwired bras at uniqlo, which are undoubtedly a terrible fit because they're not sized by back or cup, but by XS / S / M etc - however if you don't need much support but just want a smooth line under clothes, they are terrific

ihatethecold · 06/01/2018 10:13

What are your measurements if you are a 28d?
My teenage dd measured herself and said she is 28 underneath and 33 across her chest bending over.
She won’t let me measure her but I need to get her some bras that fit properly.

She is 14 and body conscience so I can’t check they fit properly if we order some.
She is still growing so I don’t really want to spend £40 on one bra that won’t fit for long.

KittyandTeal · 06/01/2018 10:16

I’m this size. I wear Calvin Klein in a 30dd or an Elle McPherson in a 30dd. I found a 28d once but it wasn’t comfortable at all. Both these makes tend to come up small apparently.

Didntcomeheretofuckspiders · 06/01/2018 10:21

Ihatethecold get her to have a go with the abrathatfits calculator:
www.abrathatfits.org/brasizecalculator.php

From what you’ve said, she’s probably around the 28DD mark if measuring correctly. She might even find a 30C/D more comfortable if she’s younger as she’s unlikely to have any ‘squish’ around her ribs and may not want the band so tight. I think all sizes mentioned are available in the M&S Angel range which are very reasonably priced and suitable for teens.

ihatethecold · 06/01/2018 11:14

Thanks.

AtiaoftheJulii · 06/01/2018 11:45

You can shop by size on Brastop and it looks like there are quite a few.

(Second time in a few days I've recommended Brastop - I'm not getting paid for this! Smile )

TooMinty · 06/01/2018 12:24

Princesse Tam Tam do a nice bra in 30C with a little padding and minimal lace trim. More pricey than Boux Avenue but the fabric is much nicer.

TheChineseChicken · 06/01/2018 15:32

Yes Banana I need padded plunge bras too! That's the only style that works on me. Anything too soft or balcony shape is hopeless.
I'll investigate all these but it's still annoying that it's mostly online because it's such a faff ordering things only to send them back. I'm sure more people are this size than realise as I always used to wear a 32B.

OP posts:
rubybleu · 06/01/2018 16:43

Lepel Fiore padded plunge is really nice but only comes in a 30 back. I’m a 28 but this works in a 30 for me.

I’ve found that padded or push up bras in a 28 band are like hens teeth. Basically they seem to assume that a 28E is the same as a 34E and thus won’t want padding. I actually need all the help I can get Smile
