I'm hardly wearing any make-up today

...and it's a revelation. Powder, black eyeliner (top only, very close to the lashes), mascara (top only) and plummy coloured lipstick. Normally I don't mind not wearing any make-up at all, but if I do wear some, it involves blending two or three fairly neutral shades of eyeshadow and faffing around with blusher. But I honestly don't think I look any less made up like this.

What's your hierarchy of make-up - what items are the most indispensable for you, which ones can you go without?

A high coverage concealer (I have rosacea that I’m very uncomfortable with), mascara, brow powder or pencil and a slightly shimmery blush. If I have that, I feel a lot better.

Mugshotzforlunch · 28/12/2017 22:04

Light coverage of powder.
Mascara
Sometimes an eyebrow pencil to add a touch of definition
Lip balm

Littlelambpeep · 28/12/2017 22:04

I like max factor creme puff powder for days I don't want to wear too much make up. I had my brows done in semi permanent so don't need to worry about them. Usually wear eyeliner though.

DownstairsMixUp · 28/12/2017 22:05

If I cba some lemon aid under my eyes and dabbed on any nasty spots, touch of bourjous blush on cheeks, quickly comb brows and some Vaseline on the lips

minipie · 28/12/2017 22:08

Everyday:

BB cream plus concealer (I have acne and major dark circles)
Mascara
Eyebrow pencil (I have weirdly short eyebrows)
Lip balm

If going out:

Blusher
Eyeliner
Lip colour

BusterGonad · 28/12/2017 22:08

I either wear it all or none at all, so make up is primer, foundation, touché éclat, eyeshadow (cream or trio) mascara, brow powder and gel, blush, maybe highlighter, touch of finishing powder, lipstick with or without a pencil. I don't understand the whole touch of powder? I can never get a nice look with just powder???

happygolulu · 28/12/2017 22:10

sounds just like my hardly any makeup look today too, apart from I have a neutral lip colour. I can't be without my eye liner and mascara as it makes me look awake. I have a go to foundation too that I've used for years which makes my skin look nice I think (I'm 49). I used to wear more but I work from home and it's quite nice to have this minimal look. I usually always wear minimal in case clients pop in and I feel better for a little something. When I go out out, it's full blusher, eyeshadow, a bit Audrey Hepburn really. Nice to read your light hearted post. I know been a difficult Xmas for some, cheered me to read.

FruitCider · 28/12/2017 22:11

Order of importance:
Under eye concealer
Mascara
Lipstick
Eyeshadow
Bronzer

But I can and do go to work without make up on frequently

BusterGonad · 28/12/2017 22:14

Even though I use a lot of products it only takes 10 to 15 minutes, but obviously if I'm going out drinking etc I'll take my time and really apply my make with a expert hand. I love applying make up but HATE removing it!

ThisIsNotARealAvo · 28/12/2017 22:14

For work or going out, primer, foundation, powder, bronzer, highlighter, blusher, eyeliner on waterline, mascara, eyebrow pencil, sometimes eyeshadow.

For days when I'm just going to the shops or something, foundation, powder and cheek colour will do.

userofthiswebsite · 28/12/2017 22:18

foundation purely because without it I look terrible.

After that, blush and highlight because as a person on the extreme end of pale, those two make me look more alive, otherwise I'm super washed out with just foundation and concealer.

calzone · 28/12/2017 22:18

Dh says I go from Zero to Hero quite quickly......😂

Honestly, I get up looking like shite but can recover quickly with

Foundation
Powder
Bronzer
Mascara
Eyeliner
Lip balm

rightknockered · 28/12/2017 22:18

I haven't worn any for two days. Just facial oils, my skin looks as though I've been to a spa. Not because of no make up, but because of the oil I think.
Usually mine would be:
concealer,
eyebrow pencil,
mascara,
blusher/highlighter
tinted lip balm

mullmepopcorn · 29/12/2017 12:46

Eye liner and lipstick- a lot of pearly eyeliner in green purple or blue, used like eyeshadow.

I no longer use mascara, as my lashes got very thin.

I use B.B. cream when I'm feeling particularly grim and need a bit of help.

I've recently been trying out a touch eclat equivalent instead of BB cream, used under the eyes along the cheek bones, around the nose, and under the mouth. It was on a barefaced beauty channel, and is quite effective.

BeerBaby · 29/12/2017 12:48

Not got any on today. Usually it's just light cc cream, blusher, mascara, a bit of eyeliner on lash waterline (top) and tinted lipgloss.

calyyypo · 29/12/2017 12:53

I've recently discovered I can make a really nice BB Cream just from mixing some moisturiser with my foundation - it's a complete game changer and so much quicker!! The pre-made ones are always too dark for my skin and I never like the consistency.

Now I just use that with some mascara, concealer, a bit of highlighter powder and tinted lip balm if I feel like it. Takes 10 mins max!

Whiterabbitears · 29/12/2017 13:47

When I do wear make up I need foundation, my skin is very pink and blotchy and make up can look terrible if I don't even it out. I also need a bright lipstick, it transforms me, I do not suit nude lips. I wear red, deep pink and bright pink. I don't do much with my eyes cos they're small and I wear glasses. I'm not sure how to use highlighters and such but I would like to learn.

GiveMeTheTeaAndNobodyGetsHurt · 29/12/2017 13:51

I often go without makeup, but if I want a little just to brighten up my face, I use concealer, (BB cream if I can be bothered or my skin is crap), neutral eyeshadow, brown mascara top & bottom, and powder.

BusterGonad · 29/12/2017 14:29

My minimal make up would be sheer foundation, eyeshadow stick blended in, mascara, brow powder, blush and chubby lipstick pencil.

ChocolatePHD · 29/12/2017 15:38

I use foundation, concealer, powder (all sheer) with pink blush and a touch of eyebrow pencil. Never any more than that.

Can't even wear mascara anymore because of blepharitis. But life is less of a faff without it! And lipstick is so high maintenance I don't even own one anymore.

mullmepopcorn · 29/12/2017 18:52

Oh, I have some powder balls in cover up shades, (pink green yellow?) that I can use instead of a base.

dirtyprettything · 29/12/2017 19:00

Lazy at home day today and I wore foundation, powder, mascara and lip gloss

cheeseandbiscuitsplease · 29/12/2017 19:02

When I'm having a no make up day I use my elemis beauty flash, blushed lipstick by revlon and a bit of pink blusher from borjois. Oh - and curl my lashes Smile

FellOutOfBed2wice · 29/12/2017 19:12

Concealer on any spots/under eyes
Blusher
Sheerish/natural coloured lip colour

Ollivander84 · 29/12/2017 20:14

Minimal for me is not really minimal Grin

2 eyeshadows and eye primer, smudgy pencil to line upper waterline, mascara
Brow gel
Concealer, BB cream, blusher
That's my "leaving the house" face

If I'm doing more I add another 3 or so eyeshadows, gel liner, highlighter, powder etc
