Does anyone else buy the same thing but in different colours

For my Christmas money I bought:

  • the same bag I already have in a different colour. I'm not into bags and love the practicality of my current one.
  • a dress I already own in a different colour. I would have bought it in a third colour but they didn't have my size.
  • shoes which are very similar to a pair I already own for when my current ones wear out (I'm heavy on shoes).
  • last month I bought the same jumper in two different designs.
  • I have numerous cardies which are or are almost the same but in different colours.

It does make getting dressed easier! Haha!

About 10 years ago I found the perfect summer work skirt from Banana republic, I bought it the 3 colours they had and wore them constantly - to this day I miss that skirt. So yes I'll buy multiples of something if it's just right - tshirts that actually sit nicely around the stomach, jeans that fit.
I did recently buy two of the same top/same colour as it's just right and so one is waiting in the wardrobe until I wear the first one out

As I write this down I'm 😳

LizzieSiddal · 27/12/2017 11:49

Yes I do.

I bought a jumper in Sept that I’ve worn again and again, from Boden. Just bought it in anouther colour as I know I’ll wear it loads.

AnneLovesGilbert · 27/12/2017 11:51

Yes! Found some amazing jeans so bought a second pair then another another in a different colour. I have the same skirt in 3 different colours. And in the past I had the same shoes in 3 colours.

Just makes life easier!

TollgateDebs · 27/12/2017 11:57

I've done this for ever! Many years ago I had the perfect pair of black suede slingbacks and regretted their loss, so made the decision to have a wear and a spare for items I loved. Money permitting, I've done this ever since from shoes to dresses.

Wolfiefan · 27/12/2017 11:58

Yes. Jeans and shoes.

Jerseysilkvelour · 27/12/2017 12:11

Me too, if I find a style I like I buy it in different colours and sometimes I even buy duplicates of the same colour.

Ihavepatrick · 27/12/2017 12:17

Yes! Jeans, tees, jumpers, about 8 or 9 pairs of ballet flats

SantaClauseMightWork · 27/12/2017 12:22

I have three of the same dress, in two colours. I am also going to buy my workshoes again (on offer right now) because they turned out to be very comfy and elegant.

SantaClauseMightWork · 27/12/2017 12:23

If something looks good on your body shape and is comfortable for you, best to buy it and use it as part of a capsule wardrobe. Saves hassle and money in the long run.

WellTidy · 27/12/2017 12:26

I do this all the time and have done for years.

The largest example is footwear. I have small feet, but also have bunions and I am so limited in footwear. If anything fits and is comfortable, I get so excited that I buy multiple pairs, in different colours and even in the same colour. So I have 4 pairs of uss triple bailey buttons, 3 pairs of m and s gladiator summer sandals (I wish I had bought 4 pairs and am looking on eBay all the time for a pair) and 4 pairs or peacocks girls range lace up canvas pumps.

I have the same dresses from Boden in different colour ways, so many different Ines I couldn't count. I know I have 4 of the Boden blackberry summer dress, for example.

I have the same cardi from white stuff in three different colours as it is perfect for me. Not too long, so good with skirts, has pockets, machine washable despite high wool content, and has a nice big of stretch.

I also buy the same m and s bra in every colour they do. They do at least two of the style I buy every season.

bingohandjob · 27/12/2017 12:27

Yes - Uniqlo supima t-shirts and heattech stuff, shoes, Boden dresses - if I find something I love and suits me I get either a couple in same colour or different colours if they suit me. Do this more as I get older!

Fitbitironic · 27/12/2017 12:30

Oh yes, I love it when something fits well and buy it in as many colours as suit me Grin

Fozzleyplum · 27/12/2017 12:30

I found the perfect Brora cashmere jumper-ideal length and fit and a neck line that I love. Courtesy of ebay and Brora sales, I now have it in about 10 colours.

Notsoaccidentproneanymore · 27/12/2017 12:30

I always buy the same jeggings.

I also have a couple of almost identical tops from Next - one with sleeves, one without.

If you’ve found something you like and it works for you, then why not?

I always used to wear the same Wrangler jeans, just in different colors. I also had a number of identical jumpers from M&s in different colors - grey, cream, red and pink.

It just makes life so much easier Grin

In fact, pr3 children, I used to make my own skirts. I used the same pattern with different fabrics, sometimes changing the fastenings etc ie one buttoned up the back, one had a couple of pleats in the bottom etc.

yummyeclair · 27/12/2017 12:41

Me too, I do this for most basic clothing as find it so much easier to have outfits I feel great wearing . Also lets me buy more expensive long term items like boots and jackets and accessories such as belts as usually save money buying multiples.

GeekyBlinders · 27/12/2017 12:52

I do because I find it hard to find things I like and that fit well. So if I find basics that look good, I often get a couple of colours.

vitaminC · 27/12/2017 12:54

Not me, well not very often.

One of the big thrills for me is finding what I'm looking for in EXACTLY the right colour for my complexion and contrast.

It's pretty rare to find an outfit that fits just right and which comes in 2 or more colours I absolutely love!

Lentilbaby · 27/12/2017 12:55

Absolutely! If something suits you, looks good and makes you feel good then why not?

ilovesloths · 27/12/2017 12:58

If I really like something, I'll buy a duplicate of it in case something happens to the first one.

teta · 27/12/2017 14:25

Yes I do, as it’s so much easier to have a uniform. I have 4 v necked cashmere colour block long jumpers,3 pairs of cbla jean joggers, multiple scoop neck t shirts , multiple wrap scarves. Duo boots plus Fitflop trainers and 3 knitted coats.

DramaAlpaca · 27/12/2017 14:27

I do this all the time when I find a style & fit I love.

Doobigetta · 27/12/2017 14:53

Yeah I've got about eight Warehouse stripy tshirts in different colours. Well, tbh some are different colours and half of them are navy and white.

MagicFajita · 27/12/2017 14:57

Yes. It seems to be something people do post-thirty. Partly to do with fuss free shopping , partly knowing what suits you and sticking to it.

I do it all of the time and so does my partner.

ChishandFips33 · 27/12/2017 15:01

I absolutely do!

ButteredScone · 27/12/2017 15:03

Trainers in different colours.
Cords in different colours.

Both from Comptoir.
