Does anyone else buy the same thing but in different colours

For my Christmas money I bought:

  • the same bag I already have in a different colour. I'm not into bags and love the practicality of my current one.
  • a dress I already own in a different colour. I would have bought it in a third colour but they didn't have my size.
  • shoes which are very similar to a pair I already own for when my current ones wear out (I'm heavy on shoes).
  • last month I bought the same jumper in two different designs.
  • I have numerous cardies which are or are almost the same but in different colours.

It does make getting dressed easier! Haha!

Yes! I have e very bulky calf muscles, so the trend for skinny trousers is a nightmare for trouser shopping. I have 4 pairs of chinos the same in 2 different colours! And 2 pairs of jeans the same, now reliant on eBay for replacements.

I also have size 9 feet and tend to buy boots and shoes in multiples when I find nice ones.

Yes. I've currently got 3 pairs of the same jeans but in different colours. I've also got several jumpers in diffeent colours.

I once bought a really comfortable pair of smart work shoes in black from M&S. I went bsck a couple of weeks later and bought the same pair in navy . All well and good until I turned up at a meeting and only then did I realise I was wearing one black pair and one navy pair....

Grinemmaa colleague of mine did that once. Ever since then, I always check I have matching shoes on. At least navy and black wasn't too much of a difference... I do buy multiples too. My favourite shoes have just fallen apart and they don't make them anymore Sad.

Yes. Three pairs of DM biker boots. Two identical navy plain wool work dresses from Cos. Others I can't think of right now. Just saves time in the morning!

Yes

Superga and Birkenstock trainers/slides in a massive range if colours

From Boden this yera I have several dresses in different colour options and I love a jumper so much that when it was reduced I snapped up the 2 other colour ways.

If I could find the perfect swishy jersey skirt(Boden used to sell) I would buy it in a rainbow of colours in a heartbeat. And if I could find perfect black and navy shoes to fit my wide feet I would be buying several, pairs !

Yes and I often regret not buying more. (Monsoon May pleat back Merino jumper in grey, I had two and DH shrank one, I’m always looking on eBay for another)

Yes
I wear a lot of plain navy or black so I replicate.
One dress I adore I have bought in 3 colours and have had to rebuy it twice in black and navy as I wear them to death.

Earrings -I don't consciously buy a duplicate but tidying my earrings I realised that I have 4 pairs that I have bought twice. BlushBlushBlush

A tip I learned on Mumsnet - put glitter or a dark nail varnish on the inside of either the black or navy pair of shoes - you can do this for tights, on dress labels etc.

All the time - jeans, jumpers, basic tops and t-shirts. Would also do the same with a bag. My wardrobe is mostly black, white and grey though. If I like something I will buy it in all the basic colours they have. I don't feel complete unless I do!

DaisyRenton18 · 27/12/2017 18:49

Oh yes, regularly! Especially work clothes, where I want to just stumble out of bed and put on something comfortable, clean and well-fitting without having to choose from a wide selection or assemble an outfit from an odd assortment of whatever doesn't need washing (because obviously, the outfits that work well together would get worn Monday and Tuesday, Wednesday was not too bad and by Thursday I used to be staring hopelessly in to a huge sea of clothes with 'nothing to wear'). Finally found work trousers that fit - bought three pairs. Work dresses - have two of the blue one; two of the white and grey one.

Outside work, I have the same pair of jeans in grey, petrol blue, navy and burgundy... And a range of virtually identical v-neck jumpers, despite being from different shops over different time periods. It seems my 'style' hasn't changed for years Blush
