Opaque or sheer black tights?

I wear both but have read there is alot of hatred for black sheer tights. I wear nude tights in the summer, but in winter and autumn I tend to switch between black sheer tights and black opaque tights for work depending on what I am wearing.

Am I in the minority?

Yeah opaques scream 80s to me and not in a good way. Make me think of court shoes, tight perm, chunky gold necklace over a jumper!! Sounds like the young people are restyling them. But it’s opaques for me.

I prefer sheer, my look is quite grungy (clunky boots, short skirts, big cardigans) so I look like I never left the 90s.

But I have very, very skinny legs and I need the definition that the sheerness gives. Opaques just make my legs look like sticks.

I think sheer tights can look good, if you don't wear them with court shoes. I also prefer them to opaques, which make my legs look too thin

I've just bought a 5 pack of Superdrug small/medium 15 den black and a pack of 15 den natural tights.

The black ones fit like a glove, and give a very good consistent colour cover of the legs, but the natural ones were not a very natural colour, and the panty was too big even though they were supposed to be the same size as the black ones.

I'm not a fan of sheer black tights. I do find them dated-looking on most people. I think very natural, fine, matt-ish tights usually look best.

I sometimes wear 40 Den opaque tights in very cold weather, but I find sheer tights look more elegant.

Sheer black tights look really cool, in that 90's way that's everywhere at the moment. I'm bored of opaques, so they've been warmly welcomed back into my wardrobe.

Doobigetta · 31/01/2018 21:17

I can't stand sheer black tights, sorry. Cilla Black is the perfect example of why they're wrong. I can't even cope with 40 denier, it has to be 80+ for me.

Urgh, tarty and unflattering. I wince every time I see them 👎
