Who does good basic leggings that don't cost loads?

.. I used to get the m and s wide waistband ones at a tenner and if ever the phrase 'if it aint broke don't fix it' applied it is here.

They have replaced their basic ones with horrible short ones that aren't the same.

Who does decent black leggings these days? I'm a size 12-14, big tummy but ok legs, since having my kids I live in leggings and dresses or tunics so need to find a new supplier as they are the basis of half my wardrobe!

Don't really want to pay more than £10-£12 a pair.

I would check out the supermarkets - Tesco F&F or Sainsburys Tu

gingerbreadmam · 09/12/2017 17:09

I bought the Sainsbury's TU ones after reading lots of recommendations on here but thought they faded quickly and the inner seams ripped (quite common for me as my legs chaif). I wouldn't rush to buy them again.

AlannaOfTrebond · 09/12/2017 17:11

Mint Velvet ones (bought after recommendations on here) are great. Really wide comfy waist band. Slightly over your budget at £15, but House of Fraser often have store wide discount days which would get them into your budget.

Isthatwhatdemonsdo · 09/12/2017 17:11

Matalan do some nice denim look leggings.

Ofgreetingsandgoodbyes · 09/12/2017 18:08

The Luxury ones from Sainsbury's- £10 a pair. Really thick, true black and perfect just on ankle length.

Frouby · 09/12/2017 18:15

If you can get away with a 14 I bought some really lovely ones from Evans the other day. Think they were slightly over your budget but they are really nice. Both DP and my GP commented on them.

I got a dark grey but bet they do black as well.

Don't bother with Dorothy Perkins ones. Really poor. I usually have next ones and they are reasonable. Tescos are OK too.

For some reason I always find charcoal/dark grey are better quality than black.

rememberthetime · 09/12/2017 18:21

Tesco ones are brilliant - thick with a wide waistband and high waisted. Not from their basics range - but their active wear range. About £10 I think

SleepFreeZone · 09/12/2017 18:22

New look work well for me. Dorothy Perkins go bobbly on washing.

namechange2222 · 09/12/2017 18:30

Tu but only the super soft ones, around £10. Avoid the two pack ones

animaniac · 09/12/2017 18:32

The Sainsbury's Tu luxury ones, no others come close (and ive tried a lot)

MrsMotherHen · 09/12/2017 18:33

Primark....but not the cheap see through kind these are the "slimming ones" they are lovely and thick and soft inside. About £5 a pair. They are by all the shapewear.

museypants · 09/12/2017 18:36

I would say Next. About a tenner a pair and really thick. I hate when you can see soon through the fabric.

museypants · 09/12/2017 18:36

See skin!* damn autocorrect

joangray38 · 09/12/2017 18:37

River island do high waisted ones.

These. Slightly more than you wanted to pay. But I wouldn't look back. Also they are not as short as they look on the model. I am 6ft and they sit on my ankles.

FellOutOfBed2wice · 09/12/2017 18:42

These are great. I’ve got about ten pairs at this point. And they’re bang on your budget. The waist band is nice and high and thick and the quality is excellent www.fiftyplus.co.uk/shop/essential-high-waisted-stretch-jersey-leggings-long/mb987/product/details/show.action?pdBoUid=4700#colour:,size:

Candlelight234 · 09/12/2017 19:25

Tu 'luxury' £10, not the cheaper ones. I would never bother with anything else now.

HeadfirstForHalos · 09/12/2017 19:26

I got some lovely high and wide waistband leggings from Morrisons of all places, very comfy and wash and wear well.

Viviennemary · 09/12/2017 19:27

I got some nice ones from Mint Velvet after seeing them recommended on here. They were £15 and really seem good quality. Not got round to wearing them yet though.

laurzj82 · 09/12/2017 19:28

Debenhams collection ones are about a tenner I think. They wear and wash well and are not see through

Sagentcaper · 09/12/2017 20:14

I second River Island. Wide waistband and I think I choice of lengths.

lostpurplehoodie · 10/12/2017 08:15

Tu have done the same as M&S - the new ones are rubbish (I have pairs 5 years old and still going strong, the new ones last 5 minutes). Mint Velvet are the best I’ve found after recommendations on here.

SleepFreeZone · 10/12/2017 08:47

I also like Peacock ones but they are very tight on the waist so only good for hourglass/slim shapes. They are a good fit though and the last time I bought them the fabric was thick.

namechange2222 · 10/12/2017 09:51

Bugger that lostpurplehoodie I've bought two pairs in the recent 25% off I've yet to wear. I'll take them back and moan if they're not as good as my previous ones

SisterMoonshine · 10/12/2017 09:53

I got the tu ones - more expensive but doing their 2nd winter
