Dubarry type boots

I'm due my first baby in February and am looking for a pair of warm, waterproof, pref leather smartish boots for long, cold, probably wet pram walks but could go for a coffee, supermarket etc in them too. The price of Dubarrys seems to have rocketed so budget (£250 ish) won't stretch. Any recommendations of something similar in my price bracket, have been looking at Aigles, Ariat and maybe waterproof Uggs?

Have you looked at Sherwood Forest, or Orca Bay for Dubarry style boots? Or Toggi Berkeley boots? A Google search of “leather country boots” when I wanted a pair had lots on offer, good luck!

Thank you, will have a look at those. Don't mind spending £250 though to make sure I get a good pair that will last!

Can’t help as I have Dubarrys but they are amazing. I’ve had mine 3 years and wear them every day in autumn and winter. They still look like new despite walking through rivers, mud etc in them.

Have a look at Dublin river boots, mine are still going strong after 3 years and are just like Dubarrys.

V low unless you know an independent retailer that is closing.

Dublin are good & there is a brand starting with M that are very similar. Ariat have a fashionable boot each winter that is cheaper than their regular styles.

I have the Ariat Windermere and they are so comfortable and warm I've not had to break them in at all. I tried Dubarry but didn't find them as comfortable.

I have the Galway tweed boots (they're £199 at the minute) and they are just invincible and still look smart enough for going out and about despite two years of dog walks and school runs.

I've got Dublin River Pinnacle . Toasty, smart and have lasted well. I got a bargain once I searched.

I have Ariat boots and they are so comfortable - I also have some Dublin ones and they are uncomfortable and you can tell they’re cheaper than dubarry’s!

I found Dublin boots to be crap quality, mine lasted less than 6 months the soles wore down hideously and they leaked Andy. Dubarry are too wide for my legs but I've had huge sucesss with Ariats, I've just replaced my (now discontinued) Glaciers with some Windermere's. I managed to get them on offer at a local tack shops Ariat event so they were around the £260 mark.

Although whilst heavily pregnant I've been wearing a crappy pair of Hunters as they're easy to get on and off with a boot jack!

My dh bought me some orca bays for sailing (an example of when you give a gift for the dw you want not the dw you have Hmm) and they are warm, comfy, v waterproof. Ugly as shit though. Clunky, toe too round. I think they were less than 200 though. Nice quality if you the style of em.

I've also got a pair of Ariat enduro boots. They are ankle boots with a zip. Had them a year and they still look as good as new, no stretching and extremely waterproof but go back to the Dublins for long walk comfort.

I have Mountain Horse Snowy River boots. Warm and comfy. But they do retail at £299. I got mine on sale for £200ish and am chuffed. I use them for day to day and riding.

If your heart is set on Dubarrys you may well be able to get a pair for £250 on eBay?

I have ariat grasmere boots - and I'm HARD on boots Grin I wear them around horses so get them wet and muddy and am bad at remembering to clean them
They're now maybe 7-8 years old and still look smart when cleaned up and don't leak

Dubarry boots are fab! I've had mine for 7 years and they still look great. They get worn a lot, including for marching across fields with my dogs. I do look after them though. Well worth the money imo, and they were only £10 less than you've seen when I got them, so price hasn't rocketed at all

Ariats are long-lasting and incredibly comfortable in my experience. My oldest pair turned 8 this year and still clean up quite nicely.

I absolutely wrecked a pair of Dublins in 3 months - but that was riding and walking in all weathers including across muddy fields. But they are less expensive than most equine/country brands and might be suitable for lighter use.

How do the Ariats come up, size wise? Are the wide calf really wide or just wide in terms of tucking jeans in? Anyone know?
