Are we all ready? Stand by your beds for tomorrow! I just keep looking at mine in wonderment. It really cheered me up every day last December having something to open every morning Smile

I couldn't see another day by day thread - happy to delete mine if someone else has one.

I'm very happy with my usual skincare routine as my skin is the best that it has ever looked and so I haven't changed products for years; therefore I am unlikely to buy any of the skincare products other than masks, which tend to show instant results.

This is the first year in a while that I've had an advent calendar (I bought the Selfridges one 5 or so years ago pre children - it was the first year that an beauty advent calendar appeared, but that had a lot of perfumes). I've had a rough few years so fancied getting some surprise treats and something to motivate me to give myself some extra pampering - I'm not looking to find a new skincare routine.

CiderwithBuda · 07/12/2017 09:51

I'm happy with skin care stuff. It's things I wouldn't necessarily buy the full size of. Especially masks etc.

Happy with today's offering. I've used Korres before although not this product. I've still got the chemical peel from last year so I might hunt that out and use it tonight and then the Korres cream.

chloechloe · 07/12/2017 09:53

I'm pleased with this, looks good, although I do have another one received a while ago but never opened.

Re the difference between night creams and overnight masks, I would expect the latter to be better at hydrating and plumping up the skin.

mowglik · 07/12/2017 10:33

Very pleased with this, it smells gorgeous. I opened mine at midnight last night so I used it, skin looked quite fresh this morning despite ds2 waking for the day at an ungodly hour. It’s quite thick and rich, good for winter

All the face stuff so far has different functions - so the Korres cream isn’t a night cream it’s a sleep mask. Designed to keep moisture in with other whatever other skin care functions they package with it. Personally I’ve been layering it all on and my skin feels great. Grin

I’m sure the body stuff, nail stuff, perfume etc will come soon! I’m hoping for a lipstick or blusher or maybe even an eyeshadow Xmas Smile

Love this thread

It makes it so much more exciting to be able to discuss with the gang. I picture us all happily putting on our products every morning pondering each other's opinions Smile
Also last year I enjoyed opening the boxes but I'm terrible at saving things for best so a lot got put away.
This year I'm very much enjoying the indulgence of using everything right away so I can compare results. It feels so much more luxurious and a lot more fun.

Looking forward to trying the sleep mask, don't think I've had anything Korres before. Skin feeling good today with rodial/Gatineau combo on

YolandasFridge · 07/12/2017 11:06

Newsflash

Look what I got yesterday in my local TK maxx Shock
Thought it was the same as "our" one but it's a slightly different name so will need to google unless anyone knows the difference?

Look at the RRP do you think that's right? Again, must google

Keep your eyes peeled if you are in good old TK

Wow, what an amazing bargain! £125 is the price on the M&S website!

snowflakestar · 07/12/2017 11:36

Of the orange one that is.

TheBitterBoy · 07/12/2017 11:48

TK Maxx often have beauty bargains - they are usually because the brand had repackaged or tweaked the name / ingredients. I got a Balance Me cleansing balm there for £4, usually £20.

PhuntSox · 07/12/2017 12:44

Fairly happy so far but really hoping for some really good hand cream!

ChristmasTreeLight · 07/12/2017 12:53

I still have the Alpha Liquid Gold from last year too, mostly because I've been too scared to use it and not exactly sure how to! Can anyone advise?!

CointreauVersial · 07/12/2017 12:58

Chuffed with today's Korres night cream - I am running short on supplies. Just hope it's as good as last year's Formula Sleep Cream.

Disappointed with yesterday's lippy. I'm a huge fan of nude lipcolours, but this was just too pale and corpse-like. Also, I don't really like the long-stay formulae because I find they wear off the centre of your lips leaving an unattractive "ring" effect by lunchtime. Ah well, some you win, some you lose.

Incidentally, all the comments earlier about it being aimed at the more "mature" customer - I thought that was well-known? Certainly my DDs were never interested in having an M&S Calendar, because they tell me it's full of "old lady stuff". Gee, thanks, girls.

Branleuse · 07/12/2017 13:02

i thought yesterdays lipstick was interesting. Wasnt that keen on the colour as it looks a bit 60s/twiggy for me, but i liked the way it felt and am interested in looking at other stila ones now.
All the face creams are a bit annoying even though theyre nice, but theyre not as nice as my normal face cream (m&s sleep cream)

YolandasFridge · 07/12/2017 15:06

Alpha H liquid gold is fantastic, sweep it on at night like you would a toner. Don't think you're meant to put cream on afterwards but double check this. It's like an exfoliating liquid. I saw a real difference to my skin, pores seemed more refined. Probably avoid if you have very sensitive skin as it's pretty "active"

YolandasFridge · 07/12/2017 15:11

And agree target market for M&S advent is probably 30 plus and interested in testing their higher end branded products , so a tick in the box for me.
Not aimed at young uns who are more makeup focused however DD12 opens mine for me and is very excited on my behalf ( and probably hoping for cast offs of which there have been none yet!)

SymphonyofShadows · 07/12/2017 15:17

I'm pleased with today's. The lipstick made me look like Yootha Joyce.

sluj · 07/12/2017 16:10

And if you know who Yootha Joyce is, you are definitely the target demographic like me 😂😁

snowflakestar · 07/12/2017 16:14

I'm late 30s so not young but I have no need for products that are supposed to reduce the appearance of lines, so those particular ones feel a bit wasted on me. I'm still using them though.

MrsPestilence · 07/12/2017 16:36

The lipstick made me look like Yootha Joyce Xmas Grin Brilliant, I wondered who my reflection reminded me of! Was so disappointed with the colour that I went out and bought a Revlon Balm Stain (in romantic, a soft red / much better).

M&S have aimed the calendar fairly and squarely at middle aged women, fine with me. Loving the Korres, already have the eye cream and used to use the day cream. I could well be looking at a full tub of this.

Also needing a mascara (by Saturday).

happypoobum · 07/12/2017 17:44

I will use the sleep mask but am still hoping for some more make up rather than skin stuff.

Still loving the lip gloss colour Xmas Grin

I am also still using the dragons blood and am amazed how effective it is. I might try to use the mask tonight.

Nettletheelf · 07/12/2017 17:48

Loved the Yootha Joyce reference! Surprisingly accurate. All I need now is a strawberry blonde wig, a 40 a day habit, plastic flower earrings and long term sexual frustration, to go with the lippy.

I loved that Josh Wood hair oil from last year’s calendar. So much so, that I now buy it regularly. I hope they give us some nice hair stuff this year.

Invisimamma · 07/12/2017 17:48

I was delighted to be given one of these this year, but I do feel all I’ve had so far is wrinkle cream and a wrong shade lipstick 💄

I’m 28, maybe not the target market. Looking forward to doing the face mask over the weekend though.

PeppersTheCat · 07/12/2017 17:50

Christ! I just spent £100 at TX Max online because of this thread Blush

Aaaaaaanyway, the calendar... Excited to use the sleep mask/cream/gubbins tonight! Love the idea of stuff that works while you sleep.

Haven't used the shower oil and don't think I will. I have psoriasis so have to be careful with putting products on my body. Anyone want to swap with one of the other products?

Lippy was okay, a tad dark for my liking (blonde, blue eye, fair skin, cool toned). But loved how it's heavy duty, long lasting, and loved the formula - not too drying on me.

What is the dragon's blood supposed to do again?? I applied some today around my eyes and forehead wrinkles. Unfortunately a lot came out when I squeezed it. FML.

WindyWednesday · 07/12/2017 18:05

On the basis of the contents so far, I don’t think I’ll buy this calendar again. I enjoyed it last year, but this year it’s too focused on anti aging stuff. I’m refusing to believe I’m anything other than 25 so would have liked some frivolous things.
