Ok - opinion please! One friend who is v honest says black lace. I like gold one. Mum likes blue.

DH doesn't like any. I'm nearly 54 so don't want to be too 'mutton, but also want to make the most of my figure.

Help please?!

Black lace is lovely Smile

TarquinGyrfalcon · 19/11/2017 19:26

Blue - looks lovely

Gruach · 19/11/2017 19:28

Again, too ladylike but great for showing off a figure.

Gruach · 19/11/2017 19:55

I admit I really dislike 'evening wear' - but might be persuaded into something like this with more interesting, not black trousers.

Really sorry. I seem to have killed your thread!

Gruach · 19/11/2017 20:06

But might as well add this while I'm here. This thread (which I seem regrettably to have hijacked) has helped me find my own perfect cocktail party outfit.

I think you look best in the blue, but mainly the top half. Otherwise its just hiding your fabulous figure. The gold does not suit your colouring and I don't like it anyway. Can't really see the black properly but from what I can see, it's a no.

Honestly, I think you can do a lot better. They all look a bit dated, frumpy, too old for you. It's Christmas, be brave!

littlebillie · 19/11/2017 20:13

Blue or black definitely not the gold

EvilRinguBitch · 19/11/2017 20:13

Black lace with killer shoes. Is it the Monsoon dress?

LockedOutOfMN · 19/11/2017 20:15

The gold one but not with the shoes in the photo.

Gruach · 19/11/2017 20:16

The Ted Baker is rather lovely!

EvilRinguBitch · 19/11/2017 20:16

But I agree that given your enviably good arms, the Ted Baker dress is worth a look. Also maybe this from Coast
Look at My Lovely Arms dress which I want someone to have because I can’t.

Itsonkyme · 19/11/2017 21:09

The Ted Baker dress is stunning. Something more like this would be perfect.

Itsonkyme · 19/11/2017 21:11

Also velvet is in fashion this Winter

moonamanda · 19/11/2017 21:12

The black or the blue, both gorgeous. Are you sure about long though?

GiveMeTheTeaAndNobodyGetsHurt · 19/11/2017 21:14

The blue one looks amazing, the gold doesn't work so well with your skin tone, and the black is pretty but not a patch on the blue. Smile

inthekitchensink · 19/11/2017 21:15

Gosh you are gorgeous! I like all three, but the blue I think is the nicest.

SleepingStandingUp · 19/11/2017 21:15

Blue
Black
Gold

TaggieRR · 19/11/2017 21:17

I like the blue- and that ted baker dress!

TheMasterNotMargarita · 19/11/2017 21:22

You have a great figure.
Blue is the best of those.
Gold makes you look hippy because of the pattern placement and the colour is too pale for you.
I think the black is too harsh and looks a bit cheap. It's also an odd shape.
If you want more cocktail I'd try for a navy sheath type dress, you would rock something like that.

Catra · 19/11/2017 21:26

I love the blue one the most - very elegant and flattering.
You have a fantastic figure so you can carry off the black one but I don't think it's as memorable or show-stopping.
I'm not really a fan of the gold one – it looks heavy, like it's weighing you down and shade doesn't work the best with your skin tone.

Ohyesiam · 19/11/2017 21:28

You are very glamourous
I love the gold and the black. The black does how slim you are. Navy one is dull.

Mulberrysilk · 19/11/2017 22:11

The lace one is the only one that looks to me to fit the bill as a cocktail dress. The other two are black tie.

BlueberryMarshmallow · 19/11/2017 22:19

I like the gold one the shape is really nice.

Featherstep · 19/11/2017 23:26

I like the black lace best, you have the figure for it. It's chic and also more cocktail than the others which are evening dresses.
Sorry I think the navy is perfectly nice yes, but it's a bit forgettable and says 'middle aged' to me. I guess it's conservative and swamps your shape.
The gold makes you look larger than you are. Love a gold dress too but this isn't the one.
