Ok - opinion please! One friend who is v honest says black lace. I like gold one. Mum likes blue.

DH doesn't like any. I'm nearly 54 so don't want to be too 'mutton, but also want to make the most of my figure.

Help please?!

The blue one is lovely but with different shoes

dementedma · 19/11/2017 17:58

Blue

flissfloss65 · 19/11/2017 18:01

Blue one looks lovely on you. Nice to wear a long dress on a special occasion.

dannydyerismydad · 19/11/2017 18:01

The blue is absolutely stunning. Flattering and elegant.

The gold is nice, but better with a bit of a tan.

The black looks dated to me.

Guiltypleasures001 · 19/11/2017 18:15

There's blue is gorgeous on you
The black too short and tight I think
The hold is nice but font like the shoes

The blue is very classy 😉

LoveProsecco · 19/11/2017 18:25

The blue is my favourite. However you look lovely in all three

scrabbler3 · 19/11/2017 18:31

Black or blue. Both are fab.

You have the figure for the gold one, but not the skin tone. I like gold on dark women.

SinglePringle · 19/11/2017 18:32

I don’t like the black lace one at all. Too safe, dull and ‘Kate Middleton’ for my taste.

I like the gold on you. Classy, different (without being unusual), elegant and confident.

DidgeDoolittle · 19/11/2017 18:37

I like the blue one on you. The gold one isn't quite right. The black is ok, but a bit safe and ordinary. I think the long sleeves make it look too daytime for an evening do.

CountFosco · 19/11/2017 18:39

You've got a fab figure and don't need to worry about looking inappropriate. I like the blue dress best on you, it's the most modern shape and shows off your gorgeous shoulders.

PollytheDolly · 19/11/2017 18:45

Blue. Gorgeous!

LizzieMacQueen · 19/11/2017 18:48

Another vote for the blue one. The black is too ordinary.

JoieDeFuckingVivre · 19/11/2017 18:51

Black one is bit boring.
Gold doesn't suit your skin colour.
Navy looks lovely.

RaeSkywalker · 19/11/2017 18:53

Another vote for blue here.

EmmaC78 · 19/11/2017 18:55

Blue definitely.

MostIneptThatEverStepped · 19/11/2017 18:58

I like the blue one best!

Austentatious · 19/11/2017 19:00

If the dress code is "cocktail " then it has to be the black lace. Floor length evening dress is ott for cocktail . And you look great in the blavk

winterinmadeira · 19/11/2017 19:00

Another vote for the blue. Flatters your figure and your skin tone

Supercalafraga · 19/11/2017 19:02

Blue one! Looks gorgeous!

DaisyDaisydoo · 19/11/2017 19:05

I vote for Blue!

Gruach · 19/11/2017 19:06

Ok. You asked. Don't hate me. You look lovely in each of them - but (and I'm older than you) they are all rather (I'm sorry!) typically 'middle aged'.

Often on MN a hundred posters will advise someone to 'go to Debenhams' where a personal shopper will find you something suitable. I don't know where your dresses are from but they are the sort of thing I would expect to be shown by a personal shopper if they knew my age. They're just a bit safe. And predictable.

You would look nice in any. If you want more than nice - you could look again.

falange · 19/11/2017 19:07

Blue. (Are they all cocktail dresses? I always thought they were shorter dresses. You live and learn)

Lucked · 19/11/2017 19:17

The black one says cocktails to me, but not with those shoes.

Gruach · 19/11/2017 19:23

Money no object? This is a bit too ladylike for me - but I don't think it's entirely dissimilar to the style of your dresses, just more individual. I'm only suggesting a shape/texture - not suggesting you rush out and make this designer richer!

missmoz · 19/11/2017 19:23

If it's cocktail I think the blue is too formal, it's more black tie.

The black one would work best, but I'd get a pair of great shoes, pink, red or purple, and some great accessories.
