Do you think this military style jacket is just 'too much'?

Honest opinions please. I love military style jackets and blazers but usually they're not as obvious as this jacket. Do you think it looks ridiculous?

I would just buy a real one 2nd hand it does look a bit try hard imo

AnnaBay · 15/11/2017 19:07

For me personally, yes, it's a bit much for everyday wear. I love the cut and style of it though so I can see why you're tempted.
It's a shame the decorations aren't more muted.

JesusTapdancingChrist · 15/11/2017 19:08

Far too much of a statement for me. Not versatile at all. Would go with very little and everyone would know you as 'that sergeant pepper woman'.

Sorry OP.

furlinedsheepskinjacket · 15/11/2017 19:09

i love it :)

furlinedsheepskinjacket · 15/11/2017 19:10

That's just it Tapdancing, I think it's just too much of a statement but it just looks so nice.

lovely

thank you

RidingWindhorses · 15/11/2017 19:14

I think some military jackets are fine that one is very Sergeant Pepper meets Adam Ant. It's a bit OTT.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/11/2017 19:20

I think it's gorgeous and I really regret not having such a wonderful jacket when I was young and skinny. I wish I could wear one now, but I don't think I could get away with it.

Floisme · 15/11/2017 19:26

I agree it's a bit much, OTT and wouldn't go with very much.

I also think it's absolutely bloody great.

Have you tried it on? I think it will need to fit perfectly and the colours will need to suit you, otherwise it's going to 'wear you'. But if it's right, I'd get it. You've got the rest of your life to wear versatile jackets.

ATrumpIsAFartCalledDonald · 15/11/2017 19:26

So what's the consensus? Should I buy it so I can look at it every now and then? Grin

It's a bit Sgt. Pepper but if you love it, buy it and wear it! With some skinny jeans and a plain sweater it would look awesome.
I like some random bits and I always swither whether or not to buy some of them but if they fit/suit and make you happy do it! Life is too short.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/11/2017 19:32

I actually think it would go with quite a lot.

Would be brilliant with:
skinnies in blue, grey or black and ankle boots of various kinds
black bodycon dress and opaques
little tea dresses in ditsy prints, if the colours are muted enough
cigarette trousers
tube skirts
would be great with jeans and a plain white t-shirt
denim dress - one of those that are just t-shirt style rather than button down
Probably other stuff too.

furlinedsheepskinjacket · 15/11/2017 19:34

go for it

please can you link though as i can't find it :)

RidingWindhorses · 15/11/2017 19:51

I think more pared down works fine I just think this one's a bit comedy.

^The Zara one is a bit comedy I meant.

caprifun · 15/11/2017 20:00

RidingWind, where is the middle one you posted from (the shorter one with buckles on cuffs). That one is nice. OP im not a fan of the Zara one I'm afraid.

bitofabelly · 15/11/2017 20:03

I LOVE the Zara one OP. It’s fab...totally my style...go for it!!!!

RidingWindhorses · 15/11/2017 20:13

It was Tory Burch but not this season.

caprifun · 15/11/2017 20:25

Ah nevermind, thanks anyway

HolgerDanske · 15/11/2017 20:29

I like it. But I like a statement piece.

I’d wear it.
