I really love a bag I have seen. My colleague has also just got it but I feel so apprehensive about ted baker.

I've always deemed it to be chavy?

It's not even cheap why do I feel like this 😂

I don’t own anything from there apart from a spray but I don’t see it as chavvy at all!

RockinHippy · 15/11/2017 12:07

If you really like it, get it. Did whether anyone else might consider it “chavvy” or not. It’s your opinion on the bag & no one else’s that counts. Personally I’ve never heard of it as a chavtastic brand Confused

RockinHippy · 15/11/2017 12:07

Sod, not Did 🙄

MammaElf · 15/11/2017 12:14

I don’t think it’s chavvy. Code MSE30 gets you 30% off at the moment - have I swayed you? Grin

problembottom · 15/11/2017 12:35

If I’m honest I’ve always thought it to be a bit chavvy too. And DP refuses to wear it. Weird.

Swizzlesticks23 · 15/11/2017 13:13

😂😂 the discount code comment has helped a lot.

It's not about what other people think at all it's just my personal opinion. I am a cheapo I have bags from asda and primark.

I just feel put off by it. Weird I know Confused

A lot of their bags look cheap to me , all shiny and plastic . I’ve got a lovely black dress which is so nicely made .

ElspethFlashman · 15/11/2017 13:29

Ladies clothes = pretty and good thick material.

Kids clothes = an abomination unto mankind.

dinosaursandtea · 15/11/2017 13:32

Used to be nice but definitely chavvy now. If you buy something that’s good quality and not obviously branded though, go ahead!

LapinR0se · 15/11/2017 13:37

I think it is shiny and tacky and overpriced.

JesusTapdancingChrist · 15/11/2017 13:39

'shiny and tacky and overpriced'.

Agree with this. It all screams Ted Baker imo and is not very chic.

Swizzlesticks23 · 15/11/2017 13:50

Lol glad it's not just me thanks guys. Won't be buying the bag right now.

OP posts:
skyrlover · 15/11/2017 13:53

Not chavvy at all.. Love them!

MinesaPinot · 15/11/2017 13:53

I like it. I have got a beautiful leather jacket from there that my boss bought me for Christmas about 3 years ago, and which is always much admired.

However, I would say that if you go to an event, like Ascot, or Christmas parties there is an abundance of TB, so do you do run the risk of seeing someone in the same thing. They're a bit like Coast in that respect IMO, but everything I have had from there I've loved and has been well made in comparison to some other stores.

Swizzlesticks23 · 15/11/2017 13:53

For anyone interest was the bag

How do you feel about ted baker

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 15/11/2017 13:56

They used to be good quality but I've found in the last few years they are Karen Millen prices for Jane Norman quality and style.

That said, if you love something and it's well made where it comes from doesn't matter at all.

BlueberryIce · 15/11/2017 14:14

I don’t think they’re chavvy but certainly popular with 20’s and early 30’s office workers. I think it’s almost bought as a rite of passage / symbol as ”I’ve got my first decent salary”.

A bit like those Michael Kors bags, except they’re more expensive.

ELR · 15/11/2017 20:42

Thanks for the code! Am thinking of this. Opinions?

Since when could chavs afford Ted Baker?

Might be an improvement on your Asda / Primark stuff which the chavs can afford.

SierraFerrara · 15/11/2017 21:42

I think as MinesoPinot said, it can be a bit ubiquitous.
However, if you like it, what does it matter?

PNGirl · 15/11/2017 21:54

Love the men's clothes. My DH looks great in their trousers, jackets and shirts.

Not keen on the womens'. Too much pink, too much patent, too many flowers and big gold baubles on the accessories.

The chavvy thing probably comes from around the time I was at 6th form (2000) in the era of FCUK slogan tops. They used to sell these hoodies to well-off girls in stripy straightened hairdos, belly tops, flared jeans and pastel trainers. Thus, we dubbed them "Ted Baker girls".

SilentlyScreamingAgain · 15/11/2017 22:12

Since when could chavs afford Ted Baker?

Who is a chav is defined by where the person using the term is on the social scale. No one with any class would use the term but plenty of people with no class have money enough for mid range high street.

PlugInOut · 15/11/2017 22:20

Wow thanks for the code MammaElf.

I've had my eye on a particular wash bag for a while and was waiting for the Christmas sale. Is it likely to go down to 50% off?

BlueberryIce · 15/11/2017 22:21

OP that’s a lot of money for a piece I don’t think will be very durable. The synthetic fur will matte very very quickly with friction and it will look a mess. (Not that I’m advocating real fur, that’d be unethical.)

I’ve not seen much TB recently, but if you removed the label I wouldn’t be able to pick it out as TB.

PlugInOut · 15/11/2017 22:21

ELR I wouldn't buy that bag, it does look cheap. Have you looked at Kate Spade?
