Hot date next month and I want to knock him dead. Help me, please?!

Hello lovely MNetters

I have an important date next month and want to look my best. The plan is to meet for a drink or two in central London, then go to a restaurant for a romantic dinner, and then, all being well, go back to my hotel Blush

I'm naturally scruffy, but want to look polished. I'm not very good at doing formal as I feel uncomfortable, that it's 'not me', so struggle with what's appropriate.I think I look ok in a dress though I often feel over dressed.

I'm a size 10, not a great waist and 32E boobs, and lack confidence.

Can anyone suggest me an outift to wear, please?

Is there anything else I can do in the next month to make myself look tip top? I'm a bit tired and washed out with kids so a big priority will be to limit alcohol and sleep more. Is there anything else effective I could do? What about eyelash extensions? Drinking loads of water a day??

Sorry this is so long and thanks in advance!

Whistles is generously sized, OP, so you might be in luck!

Sorry I don’t know if anyone mentioned this. But debenhama do free personal shopping appointments. I did that it was good. You can tell them you want a date outfit and they bring you loads to try on

Someone put this on another thread - maybe too glittery/fancy bit I think it’s lovely! And it has sleeves!

Bloomed · 15/11/2017 23:36

You've ordered some nice things OP. Let us know how you get on.

MrsDesperado · 18/11/2017 22:56

Just a quick update! The whistles lace dress fits me (Toss was accurate!) but unfortunately does nothing for me - so that will be sent back. Ditto the two Stories dresses... they were either far too low cut, or just not particularly flattering.

I also think I need sleeveless.

I have ordered the Reiss dress I first linked to, which will arrive on Wednesday. For plan B, the hunt continues!

I think the reiss is gorgeous. Hope it works for you!

TatianaLarina · 18/11/2017 23:22

Have you tried Kooples?

MrsDesperado · 19/11/2017 02:05

Thanks Bloomed

Not tried that Tatiana will take a look

I think the reiss one you first linked to is great.

I agree with others who say it’s dressy and yes in London you can be more casual if you want. However, if your date is with someone you’ve known for years and it’s a special occasion I think it’s fine and you’re not going to look over dressed. I think you need a bit of a heel with that dress though. My one top tip would be to make sure your shoes are comfortable and that you can walk easily in them.

Still waiting on the Reiss one to arrive... had to rearrange delivery for Friday.

Yes you're right about heels Earl - especially comfy ones. Can anyone suggest where I might get some comfy ones from, preferably that are either a generous fit or comes in wide fit for my flippers?

Came back to say the Reiss dress arrived and it's perfect! Looks great on. And even better I already have black heels so I don't need to go and get any shoes either!
Possibly be dressed a bit smarter that necessary but I will at least feel good. Thanks for your help and I'll update after the event Smile
