Hot date next month and I want to knock him dead. Help me, please?!

Hello lovely MNetters

I have an important date next month and want to look my best. The plan is to meet for a drink or two in central London, then go to a restaurant for a romantic dinner, and then, all being well, go back to my hotel Blush

I'm naturally scruffy, but want to look polished. I'm not very good at doing formal as I feel uncomfortable, that it's 'not me', so struggle with what's appropriate.I think I look ok in a dress though I often feel over dressed.

I'm a size 10, not a great waist and 32E boobs, and lack confidence.

Can anyone suggest me an outift to wear, please?

Is there anything else I can do in the next month to make myself look tip top? I'm a bit tired and washed out with kids so a big priority will be to limit alcohol and sleep more. Is there anything else effective I could do? What about eyelash extensions? Drinking loads of water a day??

Sorry this is so long and thanks in advance!

Not below the knee. I find bang on the knee or a few inches above the most flattering (anything in between can make my legs look chunky).

I don't want to wear anything super short.

  1. Blow out! Every one looks polished with a salon blow dry even if they are wearing a potato sac. You may also want to consider professional make up/manicure. In terms of clothing buy a dress as bellow. Plenty of fabric over breasts and full skirt will balance out figure and make your waist look smaller. Don't wear Spanx if you are expecting to take him home. You will regret it. Pair with small heels.

It's not very 'me', unfortunately

I've got this and always feel nice in it.

And it's reduced now, too.

Brokenbutbreathing · 14/11/2017 16:39

I second that one from Whistles that Toss says - lovely, will give you shape, and both demure and sexy at the same time.

Bloomed · 14/11/2017 16:47

That whistles one is nice

Swizzlesticks23 · 14/11/2017 16:50

Agree no sPray tan use the dove normal to dark and apply with a tanning mit it's nice and natural if u build it up over 3-4 days

Remember to wash hands after then I put a small bit on back of my hand keep fingers closed and rub them together (back of hands against other back of hand ) just so it tans where the sun would catch not wotist fingers.

Good luck 🙂🙂🙂 x

Swizzlesticks23 · 14/11/2017 16:51

How about a blazer dress ?

I have a nude one from zara it looks super expensive but it isn't.

MrsDesperado · 14/11/2017 17:16

Although lovely, I'm not sure about the button up collar on the whistles one, maybe not feminine enough?

I do suit that kind of style bloomed but yes I'm after something more classy.

I like the Reiss dress the best thus far (not usually a fan of Reiss) but I think it's too smart for a date, it's more cocktail/wedding type thing.

It's a bit Essex/Liverpool to massively overdress for a night out.

The Whistles one is dowdy imo.

NinonDeLenclos · 14/11/2017 17:26

(And def no spray tan or gel nails!)

NinonDeLenclos · 14/11/2017 17:28

(Was referring to the first Whistles dress with the strange ruffle not the lacey one TossDaily linked)

Pick a dress, then make an appointment for a fitting with R&P and take the dress.

Auldspinster · 14/11/2017 17:33

Reading with interest as have a work do on Friday and a sexy colleague that I'd like to impress.

Ryebreadandwine · 14/11/2017 17:34

Op your dress is by far the best. Sounds like you already got a good idea about what suits you. You will look amazing in that dress. Mani and pedi and nicely done hair. Your figure sound naturally fabulous. What’s not to love about great boobs and a size ten dress size. Invest in some sexy undies. You should be walking with confidence with those stats and great dress sense. Can’t wait to hear how you get on.

crimsonlake · 14/11/2017 17:35

I have to ask, is this a first date?

oldlaundbooth · 14/11/2017 17:36

What colours do you suit?

I reckon you'd be better in more of a classic cut?

Bloomed · 14/11/2017 17:39

I've seen the reiss dress you linked in real life OP. It's very nice.

WildRosesGrow · 14/11/2017 17:44

This is a lovely navy dress:

Oh, and arrive in a taxi, even if only from round the corner, fashionably late.

SelmaAndJubjub · 14/11/2017 17:47

If you’re near Paddington, Katy’s Nails on Spring St does a very reasonable mani/pedi

I’d also really recommend getting your eyebrows threaded- makes everyone look more groomed. Loads of places do it (including Katy’s Nails, in fact) but I think it’s worth paying a bit more and going to a branch of Shavata. There are quite a few in London - in House of Fraser on Oxford St for example.

NinonDeLenclos · 14/11/2017 17:58

I've had a scoot around and I can't find anything at all. What style do you normally wear?

What about something like this with a soft biker & heels. Shows off your figure without being too dressy.
