Is shaving your arms a thing now?

In the last week I've noticed two women I know with perfectly hair free arms. Do people shave their arms now? I've never noticed this before and although I'm now trying to look at everybody's arms to see if this is common place I'm thwarted by the fact that everybody else has been wearing long sleeves. How long has this been going on? Am I committing a huge social faux pas with my hairy arms?
Where else do people shave now? I just whiz the razor over my lower legs (perhaps a full leg if I'm going on holiday), arm pits and a tidy up of the bikini line (tried the all off thing and it was itchy as hell!!!). I'll also do my big toes if they sprout a couple of hairs.
I have my tash waxed occasionally, when I'm getting my brows done but should I be getting the rest of my face done too?
I'm now really paranoid that I look like a yeti.

I have no need to shave my arms. They are soft and silky without, no rough patches and I don't bother fake tanning them either Wink

I have plenty hairs on my chin to deal with. Hairy arms look cute. Chins not so.

Curiousgeorgey · 10/11/2017 10:55

My arms are very hairy but ive never been tempted to shave them. In fact I did when I was maybe 15 as my best friend did at the time.

I honestly could not be bothered with the upkeep of shaving my arms everyday. My showers need to be extremely quick so I simply dont have time and they don't bother me really.

Sometimes ill catch a glimpse of them when I cold and the hairs are sticking up and think "god im so hairy!" But nothing more than that.

I have really dark hair and pale skin and am
almost 40, have shaved my arms for around 20 years now. They feel lovely, especially in the summer. Takes me seconds.

I don't think it's a "thing" though

InglouriousBasterd · 10/11/2017 11:00

I have for years! Dark dark hair on pale skin, I started after usual teenage comments and now it's just my norm. I am ridiculously hairy though.

Ahardmanisgoodtofind · 10/11/2017 11:01

I shave everywhere bar my eyebrows (pluck) and head (but my hair is very short and half shaved as well but by my hairdresser). Something I've always done, I don't know anyone else who does it but I also don't know anyone with hair as dark and thick as mine.

SpoonfulOfJam · 10/11/2017 11:01

We had this thread a few months ago.

Some if us have thick black hair all over our bodies and yes, we shave our arms. Takes about 10 seconds per arm. Every few days. Doesn't get as stubbly as legs.

JRT2017 · 10/11/2017 11:17

I only need to shave my arms once a week/ every 10 day’s or so. For some reason, my arm hair grows really slow.

ChickenVindaloo2 · 10/11/2017 13:28

Oh yes, please do deal with your arm hair if it's long and dark. Depilatory cream is probably best.

My aunt got married in a lovely white dress...effect ruined by gorilla gloves.

I once sat next to a woman at a Christmas work lunch and couldn't eat mine because her arm hair was tickling my arms and making me feel sick (we were packed in like sardines).

Thanks.

I’ve shaved my arms since having them tattooed. It doesn’t grow back early and prickly like leg hair though which is odd

Kenworthington · 10/11/2017 13:31

Early=dark

AtlanticWaves · 10/11/2017 13:31

Never even dreamt of doing this.

DancingHouse · 10/11/2017 13:32

I did it once when I was a teenager. I shaved absolutely everything apart from my head. I shaved arms, legs, foof, toes, tashe everything and it took me so long and was such a faff I never did it again.

BexleyRae · 10/11/2017 13:36

I have quite long, dark hair on my forearms, but never attempted to shave/ wax it. Im pretty lax at shaving other bits I couldn't be bothered to add to it

Ttbb · 10/11/2017 13:38

I knew someone who used to do this but her arms would get properly hairy if she didn't, man level of hairy.

WankbadgeringTurdblossom · 10/11/2017 13:38

ChickenVindaloo

Please do deal with your unpleasant personality. Taking your head out of your arse and dropping your absurd expectations of women is probably best.

Thanks.

JessicaEccles · 10/11/2017 13:45

I do this as well! Very pale skin, very dark hair- not a pleasant combination. And I have hair on my fingers and toes- I'm an actual Hobbit Blush

Babyiwantabump · 10/11/2017 13:48

Have shaved my arms for nearly the past 20 odd years - since i started shaving my legs in school. I don’t like hair - I like to be smooth all over - so it all goes . Apart from my head obviously.

IHaveBrilloHair · 10/11/2017 13:51

I epilate mine once every three months or so.
I don't mind the hair when it's growing back and its short, but not really long.

sinceyouask · 10/11/2017 13:55

Sometimes I shave mine. The regrowth is surprisingly non stubbly. I go months between shaves.

Nancy91 · 10/11/2017 13:59

I shave mine, I like them to look smooth and shiny.

KadabrasSpoon · 10/11/2017 14:05

Have done this since school as I have very dark hair. My arms are on show more than my legs so makes sense to me.
I don't think it's a thing though just personal preference

venellopevonschweetz · 10/11/2017 14:50

I’ve just inspected my arms, realised they are WAY hairier than I ever would have thought before reading this thread and now I’m paranoid as hell.....

IsadoraQuagmire · 10/11/2017 15:06

I probably LOOK as though I shave my arms, but actually I've never heard of such a thing. The hair on my arms and legs is so fine and blonde it's invisible, and my arms feel completely smooth.

ASqueakingInTheShrubbery · 10/11/2017 15:23

I am like a gorilla. I shaved my arms for a while as a teenager, then decided long sleeves were less hassle. I'd have to bathe in immac for there not to be a hairline somewhere. These days, balls to it. I shave legs, pits and bikini line, wax my moustache, and if you don't like the rest, don't look at me.

Arealhumanbeing · 10/11/2017 15:52

I shave and laser (Philips Lumea) every 2 to 3 weeks.
