Pippin8 · 08/11/2017 19:22

John Lewis have some nice ones, all different brands.

BarchesterFlowers · 08/11/2017 19:31

I have got a couple of Harley of Scotland fairisle jumpers.

Like this one. Not cheap but one of mine must be ten years old!

Tkmaxx,
Woolovers,

Ambleside48 · 08/11/2017 20:46

Oh my goodness there are some lovely ones here! Thanks so much. Will need to invest in a good quality one I think, I’m a knitter so totally willing to pay for quality with woolly jumpers! Thanks all!

If you can knit Kate Davies - Inspired by Islay and other books have got some really lovely and modern patterns, some not too hard. I think it was recommended on here. I have bought the book and some wool but haven’t started yet!!

Seasalt has a nice one but hand wash only.

Personally, having small kids, I therefore went for the Sainsbury's cheaper more washable version Grin

Knit your own? Lovely wool here, and very affordable. I bought some last year (and am still knitting it. Good value for money hobby Grin )

SpeakerOfTheHouse · 08/11/2017 21:09

Any of these mistral ones??

Ambleside48 · 08/11/2017 21:19

Ha notme and barcester! That was amazing!

Ah there are loads of lovely ones, I can’t choose now! I too have the small kids but I reckon if I get a dark sturdy one it should stand up to the battering!

I’d love to knit one but I’m still halfway through a toddler cardigan (which is fairisle, ironically!) that I’ve been working on for 6 months so I don’t think I’d ever stand a chance of finishing an adult sized jumper! I’m conked out by 8.30 most nights so doesn’t leave much time for knitting (woe is me).

Thanks so much for all the suggestions, think I will go for a mid range £70-£80 one as a compromise! Love some of these websites, had never heard of woolovers!

Eribe are also at the luxury end, but gorgeous. I want everything....

BarchesterFlowers · 09/11/2017 06:48

That is a lovely site (that is now on my list Sparkle).

Harley are wonderful but I struggle to find their current range anywhere (I really like the current pink cardigan).

I see, from searching for a link for this thread, that J Crew are now stocking Harley knitwear. I am sure that is good for Harley but will probably make the fact that they are difficult to get hold of worse!

I must get my book out and choose one to knit.

GemmaB78 · 09/11/2017 06:50

I was going to suggest knitting one. Kate Davies is really good. Otherwise Tin Can Knits have a tool to help you design your own.

QuilliamCakespeare · 09/11/2017 07:08

I love you for starting this thread. I had a lovely fairisle Christmas jumper when I was heavily pregnant which sadly went to the charity shop afterwards because it was enormous. I’ve been after a replacement for ages. The penguin one is fantastic!

Fashionjunkie · 09/11/2017 07:47

I'm getting the Penguin one in Mistral - so cute!

fairgame84 · 09/11/2017 08:02

I like this one from HOF

www.houseoffraser.co.uk/women/east-fairisle-knit-jumper/d852395.pd#280615049,q=fairisle

picklemepopcorn · 09/11/2017 08:08

I’ve never seen mistral before. I love it. Sadly, I’m not an 18. One day, when my current stresses are handled, I’ll go low carb again and get there... then Joe Browns and Mistral will get rich from me.

Ambleside48 · 09/11/2017 10:06

Ah I love them all!! If only there was an endless pot of money just for fairisle jumpers!

I’ve decided to knit one. Probably won’t be finished til next winter but I think it will be most fun/value for money, plus I love the idea of designing my own pattern!

So off I go to amazon to find a Kate Davies book! Thanks so much all! (There should be a knitting emoji on here...)

Does anyone have this book?

Fair Isle Style: 20 Fresh Designs for a Classic Technique https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1596688998/ref=cmswwrcppapi_wKcbAbC58YHM7

And if so is it good? So frustrating that you can’t see the patterns...
