Are these nice or horrible?

I can't decide? Looking for black (they need to be black) ankle boots, and I came across these and can't decide whether they're cool or whether they'll make me look ridiculous: www.marksandspencer.com/block-heel-side-zip-lace-up-ankle-boots/p/p60120577

Thoughts?! Alternative suggestions? I probably don't want to spend more than £60, but would go up to £80 for something I really loved.

Hate the lace ups. Primark have same style without laces and they are £16. I have a pair and many have complemented me on them.

LisaSimpsonsbff · 01/11/2017 10:36

Oh I like the lace-ups! Without them surely they'd be completely standard plain black ankle boots? Which is fine, but there are a million places I could get them!

Oh I love those!
Puts on Birthday wish list

TowerRose · 01/11/2017 10:38

I absolutely love them!

iseenodust · 01/11/2017 10:38

I like them but would not pay that price as they are textile not suede.

Bluntness100 · 01/11/2017 10:38

I think they are lovely actually. If I needed new boots I’d buy them. Really nice and feminine without being overly so.

PuppyMonkey · 01/11/2017 10:39

The laces are awful imho. Will date them very quickly.

pret · 01/11/2017 10:39

They look like something Bellatrix LeStrange wears.

Oh, I should have mentioned this, too - I don't buy leather!

I see that they are indeed divisive, which at least makes me feel justified in my indecision - I'm glad that not everyone has instantly hated them and questioned my sanity, as I feared!

You will never get consensus on mn about boots. If you like them get them

Neolara · 01/11/2017 10:45

I had a pair exactly like that in 1993.. Happy days. (Misses point of thread entirely.......). I like them.

Yes, they are quite 90s, aren't they? I'm 30, so I'm unsure about the 90s revival, as I think it's the first time that I might be subject to the 'if you wore it the first time round...' rule!

BitOutOfPractice · 01/11/2017 11:22

I was about to say that I think they look a bit dated

mintich · 01/11/2017 11:37

I like them!

LisaSimpsonsbff · 01/11/2017 12:08

Well, I've bought them! Will update when they arrive on Saturday and let you know what I think in person!

OP posts:
PNGirl · 01/11/2017 12:19

They're a take on the Chloe Harper lace-ups, so not a random 90s throwback. I like them!

Didiusfalco · 01/11/2017 12:48

I love them! I don’t think I would wear them as they’re not my style but if they were I would buy. Especially as you don’t want leather.

Queenofthedrivensnow · 01/11/2017 12:49

I like them they are cool

titsbumfannythelot · 01/11/2017 13:02

They’re a bit too Mary Poppins for me.

Hoppinggreen · 01/11/2017 13:04

Bit Victorian prostitute but I quite like them

nothingwittyhere · 01/11/2017 13:06

They're cool and surely you can swap out the laces for something different if you like?

RubbishMantra · 01/11/2017 13:30

I like them! V. Laurence Dacade!

BadTasteFlump · 01/11/2017 14:08

Hmm bit too fancy dress for me, like a Goth Mary Poppins.
