Do you wear socks with heels? Come this way

Pls tell me about your sock wearing with heels/high heels.

I happened to try on one of my many abandoned heels yesterday whilst still wearing a sock...it was amazing! Suddenly I could walk in them, they were soooo comfy if a bit quirky looking. I e since goggled sock and heel wearing and it’s like a new world. But I’m worrried it might just be for the really alternative out there type?

Would you find it weird if you friend turned up in smart skirt suit socks and heels shoes for instance?

Would greatly appreciate photos too if you have any.

Only certain cool hippy chicks, of 21 can pull this off. Please don’t.

AllPizzasGreatAndSmall · 28/10/2017 15:15

Obviously anyone can wear what they want whatever their size/shape, and if they are happy then the opinions of others of whether it is a good look are irrelevant.

EggysMom · 28/10/2017 15:16

I only do the socks & heels thing when wearing trousers. But then, I wear trousers every day of the week!

Farontothemaddingcrowd · 28/10/2017 15:18

I don't think it's an easy look to wear tbh

CottonSock · 28/10/2017 15:21

Looks good on the models. I would look stupid I'm certain

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 28/10/2017 15:30

Most things look good on models. It's unusual, that's for sure. I suspect if you work in the City or in a very conservative profession it wouldn't go down well.

I am not a fashionista. I can't wear heels comfortably, so I don't even try. Doctors, chiropodists and physiotherapists agree that wearing high heels is not good for the human frame. If you had to run or even walk fast, it wouldn't be easy to do it in heels. I wonder why so many women put themselves through this agony.

Algebraic · 28/10/2017 15:44

I think it looks really nice. In a cute sort of way. I prefer it with those socks that you fold down and have a ruffle on.

I think it looks cool! My friend who is 33 did this recently and she looked great. Think it depends on the rest of the outfit though - could end up looking a bit Su Pollard-ish, especially if you're of a...well, certain age. Blush

I'm going to be brave and try it. Will probably look like a twat but hey ho. Grin

Paintbox · 28/10/2017 17:03

Fearne cotton looks good with this look. I think that’s because her look is a bit different and she could get away with anything because of how good looking, slim and edgy she is. I would look silly

CountFosco · 28/10/2017 17:22

I think it looks cool. I never wear heels so haven't tried it myself but would think you were a bit of a fashionista and be secretly impressed.

Kittykatmacbill · 28/10/2017 17:53

Back in the days of bootleg suit trousers and kitten heel courts (I am that old), I used to do it with super plain black socks as an alternate to pop socks.... the early 2000s were a beautiful time.

AccidentalyRunToWindsor · 28/10/2017 18:32

Oh dear @AllPizzasGreatAndSmall I am 34, short and a sturdy kind of size 12....clearly a fashion disaster 😂

SuccessStory · 28/10/2017 18:54

Aah! Some positives Grin. I’m known for being a little quirky in my look although I don’t tick any of the sock and heels wearing boxes mentioned upthread, not tall, slim and definitely not 22!

Heels and frilly socks sound like something a paedo would get off on.

shudders

ChanandlerBongsNeighbour · 28/10/2017 19:09

Go for it SuccessStory!!

ChanandlerBongsNeighbour · 28/10/2017 19:09

And post of photo of said outfit!

Squashit · 28/10/2017 19:12

Life is too short to try.

Step away from the grimness that is heels and socks and buy some heeled sock boots and wear socks underneath those.

buttwingsham · 28/10/2017 22:00

Could you wear little sockletts (is that a word?!) invisible under pointy court shoes?
Then they would be more comfy without being on show.

Floisme · 29/10/2017 09:55

One if my aunts used to say only Jean Shrimpton and Twiggy could get away with mini skirts... If you compared yourself to models all the time, you'd never leave the house.

I do think it's a tricky look but we need people like you, op pave the way. A year ago I thought ankle length jeans with socks looked weird - now I'm wearing them. I have every confidence in you - I would just decide where the best point of your ankle is and make sure the socks end there.

SuccessStory · 29/10/2017 13:25

I did it today. Hee!hee!

SuccessStory · 29/10/2017 14:11

Nah! I’m happy with the look. Not letting the naysayers come on and spoil it. Grin

Floisme · 29/10/2017 14:22

Good for you Smile Can you tell us how you did it, even if you don't want to post a photo?

SuccessStory · 29/10/2017 15:02

Black Velvety joggers with pull strings, teamed with long loose shirt on top. Black chunky high heels with black socks (gap between socks and joggers). Looked fab and was extremely comfortable.
