Anti-perspirant deodorant that WORKS?

I’ve found Mitchum scent-free now smells like BO. I think they must have changed the ingredients.

I don’t like the industrial strength “dry for 37468383 hours” ones you wear at night because a) they itch and b) they don’t feel very good for you.

I prefer sprays because they are dryer than roll-ones.

I also don’t mind the white sticks because they feel quite dry too.

I prefer no smell or a light scent.

I want an antiperspirant.

Any ideas?

Loads of MNetters have sworn by switching from shower gel to soap to help with this...I haven’t tried it yet! I use Perspirex - strong stuff you apply at night and wash off in the morning. Then I also apply Sure 48 hour maximum protection (although I like cream antiperspirants). I probably don’t need both but I feel happiest using this combo.

I am 7 months pregnant and work in a very warm kitchen wearing thick fireproof chef whites and Vaseline active wear still has me smelling fresh at the end of a shift! That’s after trying about 6 different brands to see which could cope with my hormones! Worth a shot xx

Use men's deodorant!!!! I never use ladies. Doesn't work for me. I also find varying the type you use helps. I change about the brands and the types. Sometimes use the waxy stick, then the roll on and sometimes the spray [although am prone to a rash with the spray] but always men's deodorant! It seems to work better. I do find mitchum the best though.

I actually really get on with Aldi’s own roll on which is like 50p or something daft

I find after applying it wait until the last minute before dressing them dust a bit of talc on your pits seems to work for me

I second proper soap for under arm washing and then Mitchum scented roll on.

Proper soap for washing. Triple Dry anti perspirant.

wash with bar soap.
I prefer roll on. you need to let it dry before dressing, but they dry completely quickly.

I like nivea sensitive - no scent and no sting

Sure maximum strength applied at night for a week as well as morning. It doesn’t itch at all. I hate the itchy ones.

They do a sport and men’s ones which are good and don’t have a scent.

Make sure your pits are totally dry when applying.

Sure maximum strength or, surprisingly to me, the Dove equivalent. I still have BO with soap and Mitchum, but with either of those I am fit to be around.

If antiperspirant doesn’t work, it’s probably because you are washing with shower gel rather than soap.

I think it’s just that I don’t like the overpowering smell of some of the deodorants. Even the ones marketed as “powder fresh” smell like 99% strong floral chemicals. Like throwing zoflora over my pits.

Start washing with soap and then see if you still have the same issues.

Have you tried Sure non perfumed and non alcoholic roll on? It’s a white one in a clear bottle. I tend to get it from Superdrug. Not all supermarkets stock it. I find it effective and there is no scent. Worth a try.

I absolutely love soft & gentle no aluminium (you can buy it on amazon), it works brilliantly.

A few drops of fresh lemon juice is great as well but I'm a slob at heart and frequently forget to do this

Using proper soap has made a real difference for me, DH and 18 year old DS. I use a roll on after washing (Boots and Sainsbury's cheap ones work fine and don't smell strong) and then top up in the day with a spray if I feel it's necessary (I'm sometimes trapped in an overheated room all day sitting very closely with other people). I like the Dove Original spray for that, I think it just smells fresh and it seems to deal with any existing stink as well as stopping more sweat.

Don't be offended at the suggestion of washing with soap OP.
Many of us - including me- have been amazed at how much more effective our anti perspirant or deodorant is after using plain soap rather than shower gel or creme

I've recently switched to washing with a bar soap and flannel for my armpits (shower gel for rest of body) after reading about it on here. I shower in the evening then use nivea sensitive roll on and wait for it to dry before getting dressed. In the morning I have a couple of squirts of the spray version of the same deodorant. The difference is unbelievable. I feel fresh all day as oppose to before when I'd feel l needed to 'top up' my deodorant mid afternoon. So much nicer now. Somebody on an older thread had a scientific basis that shower gel leaves a thin film on your skin that stops your deodorant working as it should.

@Robots1Humans0 where are you getting Vaseline Activewear from please, I haven't been able to find it anywhere for months and it's the only thing that works for me
