Dare I wear a jumpsuit?

I’m going to a winter wedding: late afternoon/ evening; all indoors. I’m considering buying a jumpsuit after a friend suggested it but feel quite nervous of it, having never worn one. I’m 50, 5 feet 7, size 12-14. I don’t even know where to start looking!

My aunt (slightly older than you, similar size and height) wore a jumpsuit to a winter wedding last year. Of all the guests I thought she looked the best. I’d go for it.

BabyNameInspiration · 25/10/2017 22:13

You'll look fab but they are a faff when you go to the loo. Stripping off, dragging on grimy floors or heaven forbid getting dipped in the loo Grin

wowfudge · 25/10/2017 22:26

Don't get a cold shoulder one and you'll be fine.

Kochicoo · 25/10/2017 23:26

John Lewis seem to have lots OP

SuccessStory · 26/10/2017 00:49

Try Monsoon . I got a gorgeous one from ther last yr, black with sequins.

onlyconnect · 26/10/2017 08:27

babynameinspiration that’s my biggest worry, going to the loo. Off to a big town today so will look in John Lewis and Monsoon, thank you

Sorry to gate crash. Can anyone recommend a good petite jumpsuit. I'd love to get one this winter but at 5ft2 it feels like mission impossible to find one that would actually fit.

SuccessStory · 26/10/2017 14:35

Retainer - Like I said, I got mine from Monsoon and I’m 5ft 1 Wink

stoplickingthetelly · 26/10/2017 16:50

I think a jumpsuit sounds like a lovely idea

onlyconnect · 26/10/2017 19:29

Update: couldn’t find a suitable jumpsuit. They’re nearly all black, which I don’t want for a wedding. The two I found that weren’t black and could have been suitable both looked awful.

The trouble with jumpsuits is that they have the maximum number of ways in which they can not fit right.

coffeecow · 26/10/2017 20:06

@onlyconnect What sort of wedding is it? Dressy? Casual? Church?

onlyconnect · 26/10/2017 20:33

We haven’t been given a dress code but it’s not in a church. It’ll probably be a party wedding.

Loads on ASOS - some fancy wedding appropriate ones.

They are such a faff when you need the loo though!

TheEmpressWears · 26/10/2017 20:36

I'm 47 and I'm going to wear one to the christmas party.

Pansiesandredrosesandmarigolds · 26/10/2017 20:38

How about this? m.zara.com/uk/en/printed-bodysuit-with-lapel-collar-p08467171.html?v1=5161032&v2=663016

Or this?
m.zara.com/uk/en/printed-kimono-jumpsuit-p07987123.html?v1=4879113&v2=663016

Suspect it’d look a lot better on someone with a bosom.

TheEmpressWears · 26/10/2017 20:39

I'm 5'1.

I got this one.

I hope it fits and flatters Ordered it a couple of days ago.

TheEmpressWears · 26/10/2017 20:40

I need a big gold pendant and great shoes to go with it.

Anlaf · 26/10/2017 20:44

I now have two jumpsuits thanks to a recent thread on here. I LOVE them even with a bit of loo-based awkwardness. Here are my learnings:

I thot this blogger wears jumpsuits well: www.tigerlillyquinn.com/search?q=jumpsuit

ASOS have nice ones. including glorious swoony blue www.asos.com/free-people/free-people-v-neck-wide-leg-jumpsuit-with-flared-sleeve/prd/8688945

Warehouse do decent ones.
www.warehouse.co.uk/gb/clothing/jumpsuits-and-playsuits

people tree do naice ones, as do baujken.
www.peopletree.co.uk/women/jumpsuits

Make sure it's got room in the crotch and you can get in and out relatively easily.

dumps jumpsuit knowledge, closes tempting browser windows vv quickly

CaseStudyResearch · 26/10/2017 22:33

Warehouse and Phase Eight hands down do the best jumpsuits.

onlyconnect · 27/10/2017 07:51

Wow! Thank you for all that help. I want sleeves, not black and full length legs. Some of these fit the bill and I’m thinking of ordering. Yesterday when I was actually in the shops there were very few around that fitted my criteria. I love the People Tree patterned one but think a 16 might be too big ( smaller ones sold out) but might give it a try

OP posts:
Anlaf · 27/10/2017 08:46

NP!

If it's the one I think they have it in more sizes at john lewis

www.johnlewis.com/people-tree-v-a-tulip-print-jumpsuit-multi/p3273881

I liked that one too.

TheEmpressWears · 29/10/2017 10:18

I've just seen 'my' jumpsuit on an rte presenter (not known in the UK) but she's talking about being 6 months pregnant. Confused
It's lovely though. Can't wait for it to arrive. Must go on a diet. Ordered the ten and now I'm thinking what is whistles sizing like. Never owned a Whistles item of clothing before. Better avoid the hallowe'en sweets and go straight to pre-x-mas diet!

Did you get a jumpsuit OP?

Dare I wear a jumpsuit?
onlyconnect · 30/10/2017 07:35

No, the empresseears, I haven’t bought a jumpsuit yet. I haven’t given up completely but so far none of them really fits my bill.
