Dare I wear a jumpsuit?

I’m going to a winter wedding: late afternoon/ evening; all indoors. I’m considering buying a jumpsuit after a friend suggested it but feel quite nervous of it, having never worn one. I’m 50, 5 feet 7, size 12-14. I don’t even know where to start looking!

I think Hush are good for jumpsuits, and there are a couple of non-black ones in the sale.
this is the same as one I have....in black. I'm 5'3 and it's just the right length.
They style them very casually in the photos online, but they are very easy to dress up with strappy sandals and nice jewellery.

The first questions before ever considering a jumpsuit are: what is my bladder capacity, how is my pelvic floor, will there be enough loos and will the cubicles be a decent size?

Jasminedes · 30/10/2017 08:06

House of Fraser advertise them constantly to me on here (although most are black, and I don't think you will get one with sleeves). I have two. I think I will wear one with my poncho soon, which is quite eveningy, although that will kind of ruin the point of it. I did feel glam and comfortable in it at a wedding.

You don't sound sold on it though, any other things you have seen that you like?

BadCarrot · 30/10/2017 08:24

Nooooo, awful things. Aside from the loo issue they ride up when sitting and standing. Also I remember them from the 70s and follow the advice that if you remember the first time something was in fashion you probably shouldn’t wear it again!

Mine arrived! I really like it. It is a bit looser than I"d like, being only 5'1 not so loose that the smaller size would have been better. With heels I will feel very comfortable in it. Big gold coloured necklace. Maybe maybe leopard print shoes (that I already have). Happy with it. It's a real classic. I would wear it even if jumpsuits aren't in.

I ordered 2 last night in the la redoute sale. One of them I love the look of so I'm really hoping it fits! Will report back with pictures when it arrives.

Depends how close you are to a size 14 and your shape. If you’re pear shaped then give it a miss. If you’re usually a 14 but sometimes a 12 then give it a miss

TheEmpressWears · 30/10/2017 09:11

That's nice, good buy! I bet it was 1/4 what I paid for mine, sigh, (although mine is heavy and it was half price so I actually don't feel fleeced :-)

The legs are just a little bit too flarey on the redoute one for me though.

retainertrainer · 30/10/2017 09:19

They were both 40% off so I paid £28 for the one on the left and £17 for the one on the right. I'm on a budget so I was chuffed with that.

oh no! Euphemia that's not good. The zip on mine is a little tricky and I can do it at home but I'm wondering would I be able for it in a cubicle at a work do after a few glasses of wine.

Notevilstepmother · 04/11/2017 10:50

Jumpsuits and alcohol are not a good combination when trying to go to the loo in a tiny cubicle.

NC4now · 04/11/2017 15:59

I’m 5ft 7in, a curvy size 14 and love my jumpsuits. It’s all in the fit. I’m 40 if age makes a difference.

I’m now working my way through the links for my next buy.....

NC4now · 04/11/2017 16:03

This one’s very flattering (and reduced!)

You can jazz navy up for a wedding easily enough.
