Daith piercing

After someone mentioned Maria Tash the other day, I've become slightly obsessed with her jewellery and styling, particularly this daith piercing (the pearled hoop in the middle).

Does anyone have their daith pierced? What's your experience of it if so? Is it a mid life crisis moment too far?!

Ive got a daith piercing in each ear. I love mine and have had no problems with them healing or anything like that. there was some pain when they were pierced, i wont lie but pain while they were healing was minimal and i had no trouble keeping them clean using cotton buds and salt water. I was told not to fiddle with mine and I also had curved bars put in to start with as they cope with swelling better than hoops as theres more space along the bars. Its easy enough for you to get them changed once they've had time to heal though. Im really happy with mine overall

I have my daith pierced and love it. It took quite a while to settle down. Initially I had a bcr in it but took a shine to a very nice Maria Tash clicker. Cost me £80ish but it’s lovely. Ordered it online from their website. I would recommend the daith piercing!

Oh I forgot to say, I had mine done at 51, so age is no barrier!

I'm thinking about having mine done because it has been suggested that they help with migraines. But I suspect I'll be too much of a wuss to go through with it!
So pretty though!!!

I have mine done. I have a heart shaped hoop in it. I love it and have had no migraines for nearly 2 years after having them monthly/6 weekly

Stunning jewellery, but does anyone have inspiration for a cheaper version? My budget is about a tenth of those prices!

Had my daith pierced in the hope of it helping my chronic migraines. Not a sausage, total waste for that. But I had it done because I love piercings anyway.

Took about 3 months to heal cleanly, but did have a big lump come up for several weeks. I seem to just get them with all my cartilage piercings, so with a bit of tlc - gentle washing, tea tree oil, soaking in salt water and a change of jewellery, that went away fairly quickly.

However changing the jewellery is a 2 person job and hurts like a bitch.

I’ve got a heart in my daith. I had it done for the migraines. I think it’s made a difference I’ve come off my meds’ now.

Getting it done hurt. Stung like mad for a day. Was a bit manky for a few weeks. Healed completely 2 months I reckon. I had it done 6 months ago and I’m 38.

Oooh I have my daith piercied, and am obsessed with Maria tash! Though when I'm feeling frugal Orelia have some lush Maria tash lookalikes on their website for a fraction of the price.

I have it and adore it - however mine hurt like a mother fucker (mildly speaking!!!!!). Not having it done, that was fine. My pain was after, couldn't sleep on it for about 2 months and it took a good year to heal properly.

Still love it though!!

I don't have a daith piercing but this year got scaffold, snug, and septum piercings on top of the several old piercings I still have. I'm 42. I haven't found cartilage piercings to be that bad, but I did take paracetamol and ibuprofen before my recent ones! Go for it ... I get jewellery from here: www.bodyjewelleryshop.com/ Reasonably priced and I've found the service good. But be sure to check you're buying the right size before sending the order...

Oh ... a tip about sleeping. Roll up a t shirt from the neck, so it's a ring shape, and sleep in that. I should know - on impulse I got scaffold and snug piercings in different ears without thinking through how I would manage to sleep!

I got a rook piercing, just above the daith, at the advanced age of 52. I loved it, so pretty.

Sadly I had to retire it after a few months because it wouldn't heal & kept getting infected. I miss it

Here's mine, I've had it for around 6 months. Originally I had it prided with a horseshoe barbel with a ball on each end. I saw the clickers and liked them. can get a bit sore still and uncomfortable to lay on but I think they look quite pretty.

Sorry to hijack OP but I have a rook piercing (originally wanted dairth for migraine but was advised against it by piercer) anyway it's been over a year now and it still hasn't healed! It's been suggested that I have an allergy to the steel so was thinking of trying a bioplast or silicone bar whatever it is! Has anyone got any recommendations?

A bit late - but @mintmagnummm try making sure your jewellery is implant grade titanium. Surgical steel can sometimes be cut with nickel which can be an allergen.

I got my daith a couple of days ago. Feels like a massive ball of wax in my ear, it's itchy and it hurt way more than I was prepared for. I do like it though. Am looking forward to a nice clicker in there

Thanks for your thoughts, all. I do love the way it looks - trying to decide if it’s worth the pain... I’m currently enjoying reusing some of the piercings (lobe and cartilage) I had done as a student 20 odd years ago. I hadn’t used most of them for years and assumed they’d closed up, but they haven’t!

Thanks for the tips re cheaper versions of Maria Tash jewlery too. Will explore!

If it helps, I was perfectly fine and ready for another piercing a few hours later. And now, 3 days later, aside from being itchy and unable to wear headphones, I can completely ignore it. Pretty sure I slept on it last night and it's fine today.

I'm still not convinced it's going to work for my migraines but it will be pretty once I can change the jewellery anyway!!

I’ve got my tragus, helix and rook done on one ear and I want my daith done on the other ear to balance them out, I’ve been saying this for 5 years though. Is it much more painful than your rook?
