KERATOSIS PILARIS Redness

Nearlythere35 · 20/10/2017 15:09

Hi

I have this really badly on the tops of my arms. I can get rid of the bumps using Korea Italy towels but really struggle with the redness. Can anyone recommend anything else?

Thanks

I have on my face and would love be to know!

Doobigetta · 20/10/2017 22:11

Fake tan makes them less obvious, but I'd like a proper solution as well.

DD uses Ameliorate and/or Akerat by Avene after every bath/shower. She also has the towels. I think you need a concerted constant approach. She's been treating hers for about a year, after every shower and it's much much better and less red. I think the towels initially increase the redness and they slough away the build up iyswim?

Hi, that's really helpful thanks.

Would this be appropriate for the face?

deary · 22/10/2017 17:25

I found cracked feet cream with urea works brilliantly!

Dalesgirl16 · 22/10/2017 20:19

deary . Did you use it for face or body ?

deary · 22/10/2017 21:59

On the tops of my arms- works a treat! It just feels like thick moisturiser.

keepingbees · 22/10/2017 22:04

Exfoliation will help and I have also read that moisturisers containing urea can help. Apparently it can sometimes be a sign of an intolerance such as gluten

salukish · 23/10/2017 02:21

@Dalesgirl16 I believe you can get chemical exfoliant creams that are face-specific too. www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddicts/ has a lot of useful info!

I've found urea creams and manual exfoliation really helpful for mine, but what really seems to help the most is sun exposure on the areas that get affected. Not sure if it's more because wearing clothing over it makes it worse and maybe not helpful depending on your local weather, but thought I'd throw that out there!

PerfumeIsAMessage · 23/10/2017 07:24

I asked dd and she says Ameliorate is better than Akerat. She tried the urea cream but unfortunately for my purse it didn't work as well as the others.

Scabbersley · 23/10/2017 07:26

I use cicalfate by avene.

Auldspinster · 23/10/2017 08:31

Eucerin with 10% urea works a treat on KP.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 23/10/2017 09:28

I use the Nip and Fab pads on the tops of my arms after I used them on my face and they seem to work better than the creams or even the Italy towels.

chrissieone · 23/10/2017 09:34

Nip and fab Glycolic Fix Body cream. After one use, the redness was soo much better and after about a week, the rough spotty skin had gone as well. Seriously impressed and I have tried everything.

Nearlythere35 · 23/10/2017 09:36

Hi thanks so much. There's loads of things to try here. I will feed back and try and take some before and after pictures.

I came on to say nip and fab too. I tried this and it helps https://www.superdrug.com/Nip-Fab/NipFab-Upper-Arm-Fix/p/685751?gclid=Cj0KCQjwprbPBRCHARIsAF7gDbTjJpWQLjdPfJpnguYQ0duQi82XsAF0ZXPQEUxuOoWnRLc--TDiCIaAoj5EALwwcB&gclsrc=aw.ds&dclid=CKCP9YKshtcCFc4g0wod-FEC1ww

But going to try the one recommended about now as that sounds even better.

Dalesgirl16 · 23/10/2017 19:17

chardonnay do you have it on your face too? Im on verge of seeing a dermatologist about it!

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 23/10/2017 20:28

No, not on my face, just on my arms. I use the nip and fab on my face for regular exfoliation.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 23/10/2017 20:30

The pads are meant for use on the face and are safe, so you could try them?

They are usually on some sort of offer in Boots.

InMemoryOfSleep · 23/10/2017 20:35

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Anti-Aging is fab - recommended by Sali Hughes, it smells a bit sickly but literally clears it up after a couple of days. And it's about three quid Grin

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 23/10/2017 20:42

Palmer's stinks to high heaven.

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 23/10/2017 20:46

Best thing I ever tried was Dermadoctor KP Duty - they have a scrub and a cream, but it's pricey and not easy to get. Otherwise I like Nip and Fab Gycolic Fix Body Cream and Palmers Cocoa Butter Anti Aging.

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 23/10/2017 20:50

Dalesgirl I get it on my face too. Regular exfoliating is a must, Nip and Fab's glycolic products are great, Body Shop Vitamin C Microdermabrasion scrub also works well for me.
