Does anyone super hourglass feel really self conscious ?

I’m a bit Jesica rabbit , small rib cage and waist , big boobs and a curvy bum and thighs . Whatever I wear I sort of look like I’m trying too hard and it makes me self conscious . I’m a size 8-10 but I tend to wear looser tops so it doesn’t show it off as much . Am I alone ? Or crazy ? 😳😳

@Realhumanbeing - in answer to your question, no. I have lost 2 stone and the comments/stares have started again. I am 52. I wasn't interested much when I was younger, now not interested at all. I wanted to get fitter and the side effect has been unwanted male attention, which has been a shock. I am intrested in clothes but not for male attention but that attention, and the fact that my shape is still hourglass, makes me think that I will never be that soigné, elegant woman. I am forever barmaid, not my aesthetic at all. (No offence to barmaids - purely symbolic reference.)

Oh and dresses.. FFS, can be such a headache. If they fit my boobs/shoulders they probably don't compliment my waist. I have broad shoulders rather than actually being bust heavy/Jessica Rabbit.

Thanks for sharing. I hope you enjoy the clothes and more enjoyable aspects of getting fitter.

For those looking for a decent work dress, may I suggest the Baukjen Darton dress? I have a few in different colours and wear at least two a week under a blazer.

My measurements are 35/6 (depends on bra!)-25-37 and 5ft7 (with a short waist, long legs) and they fit me perfectly as are stretchy (do size down) but they are demure, double-thickness jersey and look expensive. Often on sale too.

ha! For me a £50-£120 dress IS expensive. Those dresses do look nice. I'd need a top over to be warm enough (& leggings underneath). Probably spoils the intended look, lol.

I'm 5'9 and short waisted so I can kinda cheat my way to an athletic looking shape providing I cover up my midsection - half tucked shirts and tops are my friends. It gives the illusion that I'm all legs and shoulders, feels much more me.

Gah81 thanks for that. I have a similar style Hobbs dress that’s really flattering so I’m going to order one.

As an aside, Hobbs is one of the best stores I’ve found for my shape. I usually have to tailor the waist on structured dresses, but they are a bit more generous top and bottom unlike, say, Reiss.

Yes. I'm a size 12 with wide hips and wide shoulders and a 32E. I love drapy boyfriend cardigans but they just roll to the sides of my boobs and I love stripes but end up looking like Scarlett here. I want to look cool and casual rather than cutesy but I'm short too!
