Just that really. I'm looking into becoming an Avon representative but would like to know if people use it.

Nope - I don't have sensitive skin at all but for some reason any Avon I've tried has causes a severe reaction (eg an eyeliner made my eyes painful and red, a cleanser brought me out in a rash & my skin was burning). Not just a bit or irritation, really nasty stuff.

For that reason I would never risk it again.

TheQueenOfWands · 17/10/2017 11:40

I've bought a few bits online but I think the whole catologues business is just unnecessary faff.

Had a lovely bra from there once. Wore it to death.

Rhynswynd · 17/10/2017 11:40

I use Avon. Some really great products and great prices.

MadisonMontgomery · 17/10/2017 12:18

Someone I work with does Avon - I often buy bubble bath and occasionally body lotion, hand cream etc. I have just bought their new anti aging cream that Caroline Hirons was raving about, but I wouldn’t buy makeup, perfume etc.

elodiesparkle · 17/10/2017 12:20

I would but they have left Ireland Sad

Waytroze · 17/10/2017 12:22

I would not. I'm allergic to an ingredient they put in most of their products.

MinorRSole · 17/10/2017 12:25

They sell in China where their products are tested on animals. They’ve lost their animal friendly logo over it. Avon stuff will nearly always sell but there is a backlash about the animal testing so you might want to consider that

burntoutmum · 17/10/2017 12:25

I have a couple of favourite items which I stock up on every couple of months

sidesplittinglol · 17/10/2017 12:29

Thanks for your replies! It's been helpful and will take them into consideration. X

I have just recently bought as I couldn't find an eyeliner than works as well as the Glimmerstick one.

I am really not impressed with any of the other stuff that I ordered. I am not in UK so products might differ. I ordered the Skin so Soft body oil spray, the one that deters the mozzies. Its been discontinued!! Why, for the love of Mary, one of the best selling products?? So she substituted it with another sss that they do have, Jojoba or the like. Gawd, this stuff stunk something terrible. Its not even pleasantish. I have no idea who thought, oh this reeks, lets bottle it and sell it as the perfect substitute. The nail varnish. Lilac we ordered. Well Lilac is in fact shocking pink in colour. I put in on the day before and the next day it was all chipped already. And I cannot even blame washing the dishes. And it wasn't cheap either. Essence I can buy at half the price and it stays put for at least a week.

And its has become quite expensive. I have ordered an eye cream now, if that is no good as well, I wont order again.

RosyPony · 17/10/2017 12:38

Someone I worked with a few years ago did it, I wasn't impressed with it to be honest.

butterfly198615 · 17/10/2017 12:38

The quality of Avon products have come along way since years ago when my aunt used to do it. I was allergic to most of the products but now they are brilliant. I have sensitive skin and find the senses shower gel is fantastic and the hair products are good.
I used to be a rep years ago so used to get alot at discount , I left and went online to order some stuff and realised it has become quite expensive if there are no offers on. But if money wasn't an issue I would buy.

The anew range is fantastic.

picklemepopcorn · 17/10/2017 12:50

I buy the eyeliners and lipsticks.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 17/10/2017 12:52

No one I have ever known has made any money doing Avon.

Some of their products are great thought.

bec3105 · 17/10/2017 12:54

Yes!
I’ve been a rep for just over a year and love the products Smile

bec3105 · 17/10/2017 12:56

Avon UK do NOT test in animals.

Avon in China DO test on animals as their guidelines insist on it.

HopefulHamster · 17/10/2017 12:57

It's very very hard to make anything more than dribs and drabs of money doing Avon or anything like it.

If a friend sold it, I'd look through the catalogue. I wouldn't buy otherwise.

GrimDamnFanjo · 17/10/2017 14:25

I'd think very carefully as there is not much money to be made. Post on the Money board as there will probably be a former rep there.
I wouldn't choose Avon products and only buy skin so soft for my summer holiday.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 17/10/2017 14:29

I buy a few bits from one of the mums at school, the Glimmersticks are great and I like the room sprays, hand creams and body lotion. I really tend to buy because it's convenient on the school run, I probably wouldn't seek it out.

Looserwoman · 17/10/2017 14:29

I don't know how any rep makes money from it. Some of the stuff is so cheap eg bubble bath, shampoo and conditioner for 99p.

wellhonestly · 17/10/2017 15:11

I regularly buy deodorant, hand wash, eyeliner, eyebrow pencil, foundation, primer. I occasionally buy jewellery, the odd handbag, and kitchenware.

sidesplittinglol · 17/10/2017 15:44

Thanks ladies. Smile

OP posts:
Maverick66 · 17/10/2017 15:51

The only thing I can use from Avon are their lipsticks.

Hairq · 17/10/2017 16:25

Some of their make up is great and very reasonable. I like their haircare, and the premium skincare is good but not cheap. However, I did an Avon round for a while and it was soul destroying. It was a lot of trudging around and people being rude to me for a very very small amount of money.

sidesplittinglol · 17/10/2017 17:30

So money wise probably not worth my while or effort then.
