Just that really. I'm looking into becoming an Avon representative but would like to know if people use it.

no they test on animals.

Nettletheelf · 17/10/2017 18:15

Some of the stuff is good (glimmersticks and posher skincare) but frankly, I'd always buy online rather than via an Avon rep. I see it as an outdated way of buying stuff.

Wilburissomepig · 17/10/2017 19:27

I used to use it and I used to be an Avon rep, but stopped as soon as they changed their policy on animal testing. I won't use it now.

TeaAddict235 · 17/10/2017 19:57

I used to buy their body lotions which were great, but you take a risk with the scents, you can't smell them first and decide and by the time it arrives it's too late.

I then progressed and eventually bought some hair masks which were really disappointing. They were called the Naturals range and they were full of silicones! Haven't gone back since unfortunately. No longer in the UK, but find Yves Rocher (their mainland EU competitor) a bit better.

I buy a few bits from my local rep. Hit and miss but some stuff is very good value and lovely.

bec3105 · 17/10/2017 22:36

I make money! Would do it otherwise Confused

bec3105 · 17/10/2017 22:36

*wouldn’t

sidesplittinglol · 17/10/2017 22:45

Bec if you don't mind me asking how much roughly do you make monthly? Doesn't have to be the exact figure... just an idea

You make 20% over £87 and 25% over £160 sales although some items are fixed commission (mainly brands like lipsy etc).
You have to buy the books/bags etc so take that off your commission.

Start up fee is £16 spread over first 2 campaigns and your sales leader/asm provides the books for 1st 2 campaigns. Try not to sign up directly to an asm as it is often better to find your sales leader first and make sure they are half decent!

Once you’ve built a good client base it’s fairly easy money but the first few campaigns do require a lot of work.

I was a rep for nearly 20 years, left to run my own (unrelated business) and because of the animal testing. Feel free to ask any questions

I regularly order from my neighbour, I like the hair products, bubble bath and body lotions. The dry oil body spray is great in the summer as an insect repellant, but still smells good. I always take a couple of bottles on holiday and spray the whole family before heading out in the evening Grin

applesareredandgreen · 17/10/2017 23:16

I normally order a few bits from my neighbour- shampoo, underwear mainly.

I had a bad reaction to some face creams few years ago and would no longer use this, nor any foundation etc

I used to be an Avon Rep myself a few years ago. At the time they used to do a lot of costume jewellery and cheap handbags which were to my taste at this time - and unfortunately all my commission used to go on extra products so I just ended up with cupboards full of handbags!

Timetobookaholiday · 17/10/2017 23:17

I was an Avon rep and I really enjoyed the challenge, i used to go round with my DS in his push chair, and I made president club in my first year.
This time of year is a great time of year to start, but don't expect the same sales all year round!
I still buy my favourites when I find a magazine, but not very often these days as it's not instant delivery as people expect these days.

PollyPelargonium52 · 18/10/2017 07:55

Nail polish and body scented lotions great as are their perfumes/eau de toilettes etc.

Bust body sculpting gel is absolutely excellent - I swear I have bigger cups since using it!

Lipsticks are good too.

bec3105 · 18/10/2017 11:12

I make around £60 every three weeks. I only spend a couple of hours a week doing it as also work full time.
My children help me deliver and collect books, sort orders and add up the money so easy to fit in around family life and helps them learn and earn too!
If you have any questions feel free to contact me

MadisonAvenue · 18/10/2017 11:25

I buy from them. I love the Glimmersticks and nail polishes and usually buy shower gels, shampoos etc. I probably spend £5-£10 each campaign.

Dowser · 18/10/2017 11:52

My friend has made an excellent career out of it.
Has so many downliners. I think that's where the real money is made.
She banks £1000 every three weeks but is out every day in all weathers.
I'm not a fan.
I like natural stuff

flirtygirl · 18/10/2017 15:45

I buy glimmersticks, argan oil, clearskin products, lipsticks, the cream to powder foundation is fantastic, skin so soft spray for mozzies, on duty 24, bubblebath and some body lotions.

Spend £10-20 per month but 50% of toiletries and all makeup come from avon for 3 in our family. Only buy on offer as offers are great but start prices are ridiculous.

madeyemoodysmum · 18/10/2017 15:47

Yes I have and do.

IdaDown · 18/10/2017 15:55

No, they test on animals.

Avon choose to sell their products in China knowing they will be tested.
