Please clothe me. Not literally, I'm not asking people to send me stuff, but can anyone make some suggestions of classy and professional plus sized outfits?

What dress size?

What size are you? Next goes up to size 22, as does Sainsbury's (usually good workwear there).

Do you like skirts/trousers/dresses? Or preference for one?

Hmm, I have a massive belly.

Have usually worn trousers and a jacket in the past. When I was size 12. Sob.

Also - budget?

Hobbs goes up to an 18 and their sizing is imho very generous. (And I'm a bit of a chub - I'm not some size 8 saying that!)

Stretch shift dress with jacket over?

Blimey I thought you were going to say something much larger than that. I'm a size 24 and I have bought some lovely skater style dresses from "Yours" which I've worn with leggings/opaque tights and smart boots. (I know that's not going to be dressy enough for all contexts though.)

Are you a tricky shape? I'd have thought you could have found something nice and smart from Next or the High Street. Are you thinking trouser suit or skirt and jacket, or dress?

Sounds nice. I'll explore Hobbs. If I get this job I will be rich and skinny and beautiful.

What i want is just ordinary trousers or dress and jacket - black or dark grey - but in soft and expensive sort of material - Oh, you all know what I mean! I'm thinking pearl earrings? Muted subtle makeup?

I would suggest a fairly plain dress, with tights and a jacket (not double breasted) that fits well. Or fitted trousers, smart shirt/blouse and jacket.

My stomach is big and I can't tolerate anything tight around it, so have gone for m&s wide leg elasticated waist trousers () in navy for work. If I had an interview I'd look for a jacket in the same shade of navy (so probably also from m&s) and a cool shirt/blouse/top.

You need to feel comfortable and your clothes need to fit well.

M & S is a good suggestion. I so so so want this job. Please, God, let me get this job and I will lose weight and not eat chips in front of Corrie ever again!

18 isn't that big op. Lots of places do nice dresses in that size.
M&S do very smart workwear
A plain Black shift dress, good quality tights (I really notice scruffy tights) , nice unscuffed shoes
Very nice scarf, silk, bright colours
Black jacket/cardigan, perhaps with nice detailing
Make sure hair is looking tip top.
I think the small details are important

I'm trying to tell myself that, High! I suppose the problem is most of my success stories (job wise) have been when I was younger and slimmer, but I think that was a confidence issue! Which is why I am aiming for the 'ok, so I'm fat, but I am classy!"

18 isn't too bad but I am very short so in all honesty I am pretty big. It resulted from a nasty injury though so I'm trying not to beat myself up about it.

If you're worried about your tummy I would avoid trousers, they tend to make me feel very conscious.
Look at dawn french, she's a lot bigger, but always looks very smart with a cool twist, has a very good haircut
Good haircuts can take Ilbs off your face!

I would go simple and spend more money on good accessories/hair

And don't worry about what happened when you were younger/thinner

We all were once!! And I tell you I am much wiser, better to employ, more competent now I'm older and larger!!

Try Cos. It's a bit hit and miss but I wore a jumper dress from there today to work, which I haven't worn since last year. I got lots of compliments on it. Their clothes are classy, simple and come up on the loose side. They have some ridiculous things but a lot of nice stuff.

I'm larger than you, OP, but currently losing at a good rate. I've had a round of job interviews recently. My tips are :- keep your hair looking fabulous (really good cut and colour), make sure your make up/manicure if you wear it is looking great and invest in some top notch bag and shoes - they will lift your outfit and are not size dependent. I got my interview jacket and trousers from Next - they have a reasonable workwear section that goes up to 24, including a variety of dresses, jackets etc. And lastly don't underestimate good underwear - it can make a huge difference if you wear a really good bra and good support knickers - massively improves the look of your clothes. Hi OP, I'm a bit bigger than you and have just started a new professional job - if I can you def can!

I go for black trousers, smart black shoes, jacket and smartish top (my favourite top is red, may be cliche but I'm middle aged and feel confident in it - and I feel like I look confident in it which is prob more important). I'm a size too big for Hobbs but would start there if I could. I go for Next, M&S, John Lewis stuff (ok I'm old but have found a couple of Betty Barclay tops that cover my belly quite well!).

In the past I have been Size 22/24 and wore trouser suits from M &S, next & The Collection at Debenhams.
At size 18 there are lots of options for you, I like longer line suit jackets in dark grey or navy with a bright top.

I would go for black trousers, a coloured/patterned shirt/blouse and a black cardigan.
I would probably just go to M&S to be honest for interview clothes as I like their sizing.

Spanx and a corset for the interview and after that I just let it all hang out, works every time.
Keep it simple, trouser suit, blouse, jacket in a loose but skimming fit.Or trousers, nice long sleeved blouse and long waiscoat/jacket. there are plenty around to suit any shape.
