I like a very dark navy blue

BulletFox · 12/10/2017 06:21

It's your body, your talons (autocorrect tried to put that as Taliban Grin).

What you were asking initially was yay or nay and I wouldn't be personally into it but if you like it go for it.

MeganChips · 12/10/2017 06:21

Yay! I love black nails.

Timefortea99 · 12/10/2017 06:22

Dark purple that pulls black is more flattering. OPI Lincoln Park at Midnight is a classic.

SevenSheep · 12/10/2017 06:24

I love black nail varnish. I couldn't really care less if it's fashionable or not!

BinkyandBunty · 12/10/2017 06:26

Love it! Though I prefer really dark grey or blue.

midsummabreak · 12/10/2017 06:29

Love it

catiinbo0ts · 12/10/2017 06:39

I like matt black

Highlove · 12/10/2017 06:48

I think a really, really dark blue/purple/red that's leaning towards/almost black looks nicer. I'm afraid black itself makes me think dirty teenager. But if you like it, they're your nails.

Bluesheep8 · 12/10/2017 07:11

Thanks all, used to wear it when I was a teen on bitten nails (yuck, but that was 'a thing' then - think Courtney Love etc) and saw some the other day and thought it might look good now I'm older and wiser and dare I say it more chic! Plus I do now look after my nails. Going for it, the black is back

Love it and wear it a lot in winter

Highlove · 12/10/2017 07:22

OP, I think it's the Courtney Love bitten fingernails thing that make me think of dirty teenager. I'm sure you're not now!

WatchingFromTheWings · 12/10/2017 07:32

I wear black nail varnish from time to time (I’m 41). If I go out I may put a glitter layer ontop. My nails are kept very short (for Work).

Bluesheep8 · 12/10/2017 07:52

Yes highlove, Courtney was the exact image that came to mind when I read your post!...took me right back to my youth, bitten nails and ripped tights (on purpose, mind)..Smile

I love black nails.

BillywigSting · 12/10/2017 08:00

I love black nails. So much in fact that I got black acrylics! .
They always look polished (pardon the pun) and work with my entire autumn/winter wardrobe.

Lottapianos · 12/10/2017 08:00

Definitely yes to black nails if you love them . Licorice by Essie is the best black nail varnish I've found

Bluesheep8 · 12/10/2017 08:04

Lottapianos, thanks I will have a look for that, think I saw it in TKMaxx

Love it although haven’t worn it for a while. Tend to go for very dark purple/red/navy these days but I have a bottle of black and today I may use it!

Outedsochanged · 12/10/2017 08:20

I love black, (mid 40's). I will often put a gold glitter coat on top as well.
Other use is to fill in scuffs on the kids patent school shoes!

Oblomov17 · 12/10/2017 08:22

Love it. Regularly get it. Have it now.

DuckOffAutocorrectYouShiv · 12/10/2017 08:26

Very deep navy or rouge noir type colours are more flattering on my skin tone than pure black. Not that I wear nailpolish very often.

IMO, black can look very chic when neatly applied on short, well, shaped nails. Like most nail polishes, it starts to look tacky when nails are too long, it’s sloppily applied or nail art gets involved.

HaHaHmm · 12/10/2017 09:00

I can't pull off pure black but I wear a lot of 'nearly blacks' - OPI Lincoln Park After Dark as mentioned above, OPI Roadhouse Blues (lovely dark navy creme - lots of people like Russian Navy but I am not keen on the shimmer) or Chanel Rouge Noir (or more likely a dupe like Essie Wicked - the old Chanel formulation once chipped in six hours for me, but apparently the new longwear formulation wears much better).

TricksyLiesmith · 12/10/2017 12:24

Yes love it . I'm currently sporting a back acrylic that has a slight glitter . They go with everything

Dfg15 · 12/10/2017 12:30

Barry M Molten Metals black diamond is lovely. Black with a hint of sparkle
